Well good for you, you absolute hero.
Meanwhile, I’ll be warm, thanks. Being able to tolerate the cold doesn’t make you morally superior, just FYI.

Shes not being superior just added a comment.
I have my windows open all year round.

padso · 21/09/2025 20:51

I open my windows daily but don't leave the open overnight when it's cold.

KimTheresPeopleThatAreDying · 21/09/2025 20:51

Thanks to perimenopause I’ve been pouring sweat today 😂

It’s not cold, though. I’ve been in sandals and a summer dress all day, out and about. Got three loads of washing dried on the line outside.

Rather depends where you live!

I'm SE & it's been a 'nice' day but fairly chilly. I only got one load if washing dried and that was just new sheets & pillow cases & I thought 'Autumn has definitely arrived when it takes ALL day to dry a load like that!!'

@TheOpalFox

I haven't felt the need to put it on yet, so haven't been 'holding off'. Like a PP said too, I pay the same amount every month so I build up credit in warmer months (I know that not everyone can afford to do that, but it's good if you can next year!).

I'm sorry you feel you can't have the heating on when you want to x

are you looking for suggestions or just venting??

No capes here, just sweaty red faced grumpy fed up perimenopausal woman sick of being held hostage by the shittiness of being female, and thanking the Gods for summer (aka 11th circle of hell) finally fucking the fuck off to the far end of fuck.
K?

Indeed. They're such a boon.

I dislike them. If I don’t honed the heating for people I don’t put it on. Clothes still dry. When it’s really cold and the heating is on they dry a bit quicker. Less creased up, too. And it costs me no more than just normal house heating.

I cant sleep if my window is closed.
Open all year round day and night.

Nah, it was a failed attempt at superiority.

Well, it depends what your threshold is, doesn't it? We're all different. My windows only stay open when it's mild. I don't like getting cold, I feel miserable.

And I don’t. It is a judgement on a thread about whether it’s cold enough for heating. It’s saying you don’t need it. You are better/less weak than people who do.

ChipsAndSaladCream · 21/09/2025 20:53

Heating on in the evenings and all night. Dreading the bills.

padso · 21/09/2025 20:53

South East London here, it's cooler today, but nowhere near bad enough for heating on.

We all just feel the cold differently though surely? Equally I don't crack open my summer wardrobe in the low 20s.

Modern tumble dryers are very eco friendly and economical. I also don't like damp clothing hanging around the house. I like it washed, dried and put away.

There is a weird competitive element to how cold people can get! 😆

AllrightNowBaby · 21/09/2025 20:55

It’s been a warm day but temp dropped about 8pm so my heating is on at 20.
I refuse to be cold in my own house 😊

rainbowunicorn · 21/09/2025 20:55

padso · 21/09/2025 20:42

How do people know how hot the inside of their house is?

What do you mean? A thermostat that will kick in if temp drops below a set point. A thermometer to tell the temperature. Surely you have heard of these things?

padso · 21/09/2025 20:55

They can take a long time though & I don't put certain things in there as it damages the clothes imo.

Just horribly suffering from perimenopause, but apparently being finally comfortable and to sleep makes me morally superior.

Im just thankful I’m not on the floor frok exhaustion, finally.

I guess some people just prefer to be offended by everything.

IndigoBluey · 21/09/2025 20:56

To be fair for the people asking where OP is, Edinburgh is currently 8 degrees which isn’t hot

mumofoneAloneandwell · 21/09/2025 20:56

In london

The electric blanket is sufficient so far x

Medicate it.

Namewitheldagain · 21/09/2025 20:56

I’m typically a cold person but so far lucky enough to not have needed it. I’m in nw England and whilst we’ve had a lot of rain recently, it’s not been too cold. I live with a man who is chronically hot so it becomes a battle in the cold! However at the moment the summer duvet is still on. Think I’ll change that next time I change the sheets. I have changed to long sleeves and full length pjs this week though.

WonderfulSmith · 21/09/2025 20:56

Not yet. Where I am has been lovely today. We had lunch sat in the garden in T-shirts but once the sun went down the temperature has really dropped. Still 21 inside though.

Signalbox · 21/09/2025 20:56

It won't go on in our house until well into November.

padso · 21/09/2025 20:57

@rainbowunicorn I have a thermostat but can't remember what it's set to & it's in my hall so I don't know the temperature in other rooms. Is it really that baffling to you?
