Which country will you move to if Reform win next election?

Faced with the prospect of NHS being sold off, ICE-style immigration raids and deportations, emboldened bigots, changes to the school curriculum, public services dessimated, leaving EHCR, I honestly think I'll have no choice but to leave. I don't want to but I couldn't bring DC up in fascist state.

Luckily my DH, DC and I are all dual nationals of an EU country so we have an escape route if needed and this country goes to the dogs.

Where would you go?

I'd sit it out here on the basis that if Reform are as bad as Farage was as an MEP they'll be voted out again in four years time.

Yep. When people realise Farage can't stop immigration either and has sold off the NHS.

People always talk of moving somewhere else, somewhere better, but the reality is that there isn’t anywhere without problems. So you’re just moving from one set of problems to another.

And the reality is that the far right is gaining ground across a lot of the world, so moving away from the UK isn’t going to necessarily be any different, added to which you will be an immigrant, and the world at large doesn’t like those, it’s not just the UK.

bang on.

Screamingabdabz · 15/09/2025 20:57

Oh get a bloody grip. The uk is fine and will be fine. There are worse things than Farage - the planet’s fucked for goodness sake. Just keep calm and carry on!

kinkytoes · 15/09/2025 20:57

Loveduppenguin · 15/09/2025 20:34

Can everyone please stop coming to Ireland we barely have enough houses for ourselves to be honest!

ANTI IMMIGRATION BIGOT KLAXON

Just joking @Loveduppenguin 😊

The damage will be done though.

We're already diminished after Brexit. Now they're coming for public services and letting greedy corporations in

Good point

What a stupid post

Hoardasauruskaren · 15/09/2025 20:58

My DH is disabled & can’t work so although I have a sought after profession we would be very unlikely to be accepted anywhere else. So just need to hope it doesn’t get too bad.

We have Irish passports so that's one option. If I had the money I quite fancy Switzerland.

You might have a shock. It's a hard country to integrate into. Look at how many expats leave.

This thread is just catastrophising imo

Yeah. People said that about the National Socialist Party in Germany I expect.

Ooh where are you off to because the EU as a whole is becoming more right wing so you’re likely to have the same type of government there.

What a stupid post

Actually this post represents the views of a lot of people. Sadly I have nowhere to move to.

kinkytoes · 15/09/2025 21:01

I think it's also a disappointment in me when I see how many British people fall hook line and sinker for Farage and co

Well you lot fell hook line and sinker for Starmer and Co so I think that puts you in a worse light tbh.

We don't yet know what Reform might do.

Labour already proven liars.

sleepwouldbenice · 15/09/2025 21:01

Kneenightmare · 15/09/2025 20:55

Yep 100%

A non labour supporter here but 100% preferable to reform

Maybe it’s your outlook that’s actually causing you the issue. People tend to create their own jail

Thortour · 15/09/2025 21:02

Ireland.

I'm going to seek political asylum

Holluschickie · 15/09/2025 21:02

I feel a bit nervous about DS, a tall brown muscular man given to wearing black hoodies and often on his own.

Maybe I should get a grip. My parents weathered the worst of Enoch Powell and his like. Hope it's not our turn.

Yes that's true. My DH says everything happens in cycles and right now we're in a very right wing fascist one across the world.

I'm just not used to all this hate and intolerance everywhere.

Maybe I just need to move to a lost corner of Wales with no internet

Dual citizenship with an EU country. We are planning to leave.

Crikeyalmighty · 15/09/2025 21:02

Netherlands - have visa application in already using our self employed current business status . Tough criteria but we fit it . We lived in Copenhagen 2020 to 2022 and came back due to elderly relative reasons so have done it before - we would have gone to Sweden but need £40k just lying around for a year as non EU , plus current business and we can’t do that - business wise it’s better for us anyway

Fleetheart · 15/09/2025 21:03

I do think about this; I love this country but there is an element of it now that seems to be forgetting about why we created the NHS, why we invested in schools and public services. People (not everyone of course) seem much more me me me. But where is better? Maybe Sweden? But then I wouldn’t be at home. It’s all a bit depressing really.
