On Friday, my 10-year-old son jumped in a muddy puddle and got mud in my eye, all over his school uniform, all over the car, and all over the porch. He also threw his 23-year-old sibling’s CV out of the window as a paper airplane, which he had made a long time ago, causing delays in their job search. He has been saying that I have a big tummy, which has hurt my feelings, and was refusing to get out of the car after we drove home from school. Most times when I ask why he does these things, he says things like "Peppa Pig does it," "Peppa Pig did it," "George did it," or "George Pig does it." I have noticed that he has been displaying all this behavior after watching Peppa Pig.

My Dh narrated our lives Peppa pig style for longer than he should have. On occasion the kids weren't even there. Using that 2 note sound when things go wrong on the show. 'Mummy does not like it when she can't find her keys', 'Mummy doesn't like to talk before she has her coffee' etc.

He’d be under the patio!

hagchic · 15/09/2025 14:48

I didn't cope with Watership down - full on sobbing at Saturday morning cinema (where parents dumped you whilst they went shopping I seem to remember)

Just as bad was the Pit ponies film - if you know, you know.

This still happens in our house several years after Peppa became a porca non grata according to our daughter.

We also still attribute any and all roadworks to Mr Bull. Usually accompanied by loud “MOO!”

Needmorelego · 15/09/2025 14:51

@hagchic I think it was only a few years ago that Watership Down was upgraded from U certificate to PG 😱

Oh yes....see any roadworks anywhere ever and it has to be announced to the world...

@Needmorelego Miss Rabbit burnout - never!

She was raised from a young age responsible for thousands of siblings before having her own hundreds of children to send out into the world.

And still not married? Shocking 😱

As established upthread there's two of them.
Mrs Rabbit and Miss Rabbit. They're sisters.
Mrs Rabbit has the babies, Miss Rabbit has the jobs.
Although didn't they swap once for reasons I can't remember.

Nozache · 15/09/2025 14:55

I used to wonder why people added “(lighthearted)” to their OP.

Now I understand

Don’t kids stop watching peppa pig in reception?

Yes but their parents carry on going by this thread.

I don't think the kids of the 70s could cope either....
That film traumatised everyone !

No wonder im veggie!
Between that & the animals of farthing wood and Babe... it was a no brainer.
Brutal they were.
I actually loved Watership Down and even now could probably recite every single line in the film from memory.
Theres a dog loose in the woods... I still think about that line alot to this day.

Edit spelling!

U - suitable for all ages.

The field of blood.
Rabbits suffocating in warrens.
Bright eyes
Ripping the rabbits ears as punishment.

Right!

Dont think today's kids could cope with Watership Down they'd need counselling! Youth of today eh 🤣

Always cracks me up how it's shown on TV every Easter, like it's some cute kid-friendly film about fluffy bunnykins... it's blooming savage. I bet the TV companies are deluged with calls from angry mums every time.

BallerinaRadio · 15/09/2025 14:58

There's an odd lack of humour in this post 🤨

Muffinmam · 15/09/2025 14:59

What is wrong with you and your family?

Right!

Quite. It managed to give me claustrophobia, an obsession with dystopian totalitarian societies and put me off meat for life all in one go.

What were they thinking?

Wavescrashingonthebeach · 15/09/2025 14:59

Got to admit though, Bright Eyes is a wonderful song

hagchic · 15/09/2025 14:59

As to whether Moody Margaret is still moody - she'll be menopausal by now so I would expect so.

Nothankyov · 15/09/2025 14:59

I have to say I have always detested peppa pig. Never let my kids watch it. They watched curious George, blaze, Mike the knight and number blocks. There are plenty of other options.

I think the OP thinks she’s being funny and clever. She isn’t.

Allthefruit · 15/09/2025 15:00

Yanbu. I too outsourced the entirety of my parenting to TV and now my daughter is convinced she is a"K.pop demon hunter".

I don't know.
The OP hasn't returned so I think they were trying to be edgy with a fake thread but we've just gone with it and we're having fun.

Not yet I hope.... she'd only be early 40s.
