I felt it wasn’t a coincidence but I was still surprised in the moment. She is over 20 years my senior and quite intelligent so I don’t think it was thoughtless banter however this isn’t unusual behaviour for that side of the family. My cousin was brought up by my aunt who sent a photocopy of the coroner’s report by post showing my father’s death was a suicide, (after lying to me that it wasn’t a suicide for months) to get back at me for ignoring her calls years ago. It would probably be a blessing to not be related to them.

Another for me - I make out I have more money than I do. My parents think we are well off but don't know that we have a hell of a lot of debt. We go on free holidays through my work, it's a perk that no one outside of my work knows I (we) get. I tell people we have 'booked a holiday' but we never pay for it. I don't work in travel and I don't travel for work, so no one would think it's work-related. We do also book holidays that we pay for too. So we have a lot of holidays.

I do too. Has to be Ringtons though.

That I think both Greggs sausage rolls and Only Fools and Horses are overrated.

I think tech use for kids & teens eg iPad,phone,sm is no biggie. I think middle classes have got self in a moral panic about tech

That I’ve been with my partner for over 25 years and for 24 of them I have been a victim of domestic abuse from him. Verbally and mentally. He’s finally broken me after all these years and I can’t sink any lower. I just want to die.

Some of the men I've had sex with are so gross. I actually can't believe I lowered my standards so much.

Could you start your own thread @FuckedHead as this one is nearly full and I think you need help. I’m sure there are other MNetters who have managed to escape abuse and would be happy to offer you advice and support.
