Can’t find a name for my little boy?

Hello,

so I’m pregnant, 7 months and really really struggling to find a name. I have a boy already, and his name is as easy peasy for me to choose - I knew straight away, even before I was pregnant.

since finding out I’m having another boy, I’ve been struggling to think of a name. I have options…. But just don’t love any of them. I feel really guilty about it, feel bad that I can’t think of a name for him, can’t connect with him on that level? Maybe I’m over thinking it but I truly feel like a crappy mum, I should “know” his name.

My husband like Huxley… I thought it was okay, and would’ve happily have gone with it for him but his cousin has now called their baby Huxley. So that’s that. Won’t use it.

we both like Rudy, but i don’t LOVE it, it’s okay but doesn’t feel like that’s his name.

we like cassian, again, doesn’t move me to tears but it’s fine 🤣

these are the other options.

Oswin
Jago
Magnus
Neo
Roux
Marcel
Seb

Think Roux is too close to the making of a sauce and also he’ll be questioned on how to spell it.

love Magnus, always have, he’d be called Maggie? I don’t know. People love a nickname.

neo.. also like it but will people think I’ve named him after Neyo - the singer.

anyway, it’s a big deal naming a baby. I want something easy to say and spell, not tooo common.

My son is: Saxon
I love it so much, just looking for something to go with it.

help and please be nice….

Anglo

Bluebay · 14/09/2025 00:55

If you have a son called Saxon it seems logical to me to call the new baby Norman.
Or maybe Athelstan, who was the Anglo-Saxon king who became the first king of England.

Brian
Keith
Gordon
Norman
Rodney

Nice names- but a bit too 1950s for a child nowadays IMO. Maybe he'll use one or two of those names for his own children, the way names come back.

Laertease · 14/09/2025 01:03

I absolutely adore the name Magnus. I know one, usually called Mag.

Jago and Asa are great.

I know one very cool little kid in New York called Cassius.

ToWhitToWhoo · 14/09/2025 01:03

Not Norman, I think, with a brother called Saxon; that could make them sound like enemies. Perhaps Alfred after the great Anglo-Saxon king? Or Arthur- more legend than reality, but certainly a great hero and role model.

ToWhitToWhoo · 14/09/2025 01:05

Of your suggested names, I really like Magnus,

Thunderpants88 · 14/09/2025 01:09

Silus

MiddleAgeRageMonster · 14/09/2025 01:16

Saracen.

Shinyhappypeople43 · 14/09/2025 01:26

Jaxxon

Bones101 · 14/09/2025 01:28

Why would new babies name have to match older brother 🤣🤣 bizzare.

Elliot or Elijah

Emmett
Silas
Augustus (Gus, for everyday)
Rohan
Evander
Kalel(okay maybe not but it’s a cool idea)
Evren (Turkish for ‘universe’)

Of your list, Oswin is a banger. Cassius is also solid.

I want to know the female baby name 😂

JMSA · 14/09/2025 03:36

Some of these names 🫣
We must be relatively conservative here in Scotland 😬
If I’d had a son, he would have been James 😁

TwinklyNight · 14/09/2025 03:54

Hugo
Jude
Rufus

Cassius - when he’s older kids may associate it with Mohammed Ali (Cassius Clay was his real name) and if he’s a wee, nerdy lad rather than a tough, fighter could lead to terrible teasing. Tbh even if he joined a trades or police or army where nicknames are common, he’d have that issue.

Roman is a good, solid choice as it’s not that unusual and keeps with the theme of naming the boys after old European tribes like Saxon. Albion is similar and if you’re ethically English would be well suited - Alby for short. The only thing to be wary of is if these tribes aren’t painted in a good light in history class and a more diverse non-white group of people would see it as being a bit ‘aggressively patriotic’. I don’t personally think there’s anything wrong with it but in a world where so much history is getting cancelled - maybe the less association with historic tribes the better.

Rudy is lovely and uncontroversial , and Arlo is getting more main stream - very cool. Milka sounds too much like the famous Austrian chocolate.

Magnus is a popular and lovely Swedish/Nordic name - if his surname isn’t and there’s no Scandi heritage, he might find it confusing or deal with questions/assumptions about it. Esp if he ever works with Scandis which he might in a global job.

I like Jago with it’s Cornish origins but might be a bit odd if you live in northern England and no family/heritage from Cornwall.

Celt, Roman or Norman

LavendersBlueeee · 14/09/2025 04:58

Honestly, I hate them all, they all sound very try hard, but I get that you won’t care what some random on the internet thinks, which is fine.
FWIW though, I dont get trying to pair siblings names together; they’re their own separate people, and unless they’re likely to form a duet in later years, their names don’t need to “go together” IMO

ChocolateCinderToffee · 14/09/2025 05:52

I think Magnus is a lovely underused name. Not keen on Cassius though. What about Ralph (pronounced Rafe), or Stefan?

Lifestooshort71 · 14/09/2025 06:12

Not Jesse - still remember it was an insult thrown at sensitive boys when I was at school "Aw, ya big Jesse!"

MirandaBlu · 14/09/2025 06:40

Frank
Lombard
Vandal

Mika (MEE-kah) is a boys' name in Finnish, although usually short for some form of Mikael/Michael. Mikko and Miko (both pronounced MEE-ko) are also used.

If you want another x, how about Lennox? Could go Len(ny) or Nox if you want to shorten occasionally.

Duckswaddle · 14/09/2025 06:58

Nico
Ezra
Oz

VinoBianca · 14/09/2025 07:23

@Saxfie2021 have you though about Cassiel? Lovely, angelic name. Its modern variant is Castiel but that doesn’t seem as proper!

if you were brave there’s also Cassander (male form of Cassandra). Lends itself to lots of cool nicknames but might be too close to the feminine form teasing-wise

redfairy · 14/09/2025 07:43

Remus

Vandal?! Really?!

Bellaphant · 14/09/2025 08:17

Ds is Micah: I love it but it's consistently mispronounced as Meesha, Meeka, etc. Something you haven't mentioned is nicknames: one of the reasons I picked Micah is because you couldn't really shorten it.

How about Malachi? Elias?
