Can’t find a name for my little boy?

Saxfie2021 · 13/09/2025 15:33

Hello,

so I’m pregnant, 7 months and really really struggling to find a name. I have a boy already, and his name is as easy peasy for me to choose - I knew straight away, even before I was pregnant.

since finding out I’m having another boy, I’ve been struggling to think of a name. I have options…. But just don’t love any of them. I feel really guilty about it, feel bad that I can’t think of a name for him, can’t connect with him on that level? Maybe I’m over thinking it but I truly feel like a crappy mum, I should “know” his name.

My husband like Huxley… I thought it was okay, and would’ve happily have gone with it for him but his cousin has now called their baby Huxley. So that’s that. Won’t use it.

we both like Rudy, but i don’t LOVE it, it’s okay but doesn’t feel like that’s his name.

we like cassian, again, doesn’t move me to tears but it’s fine 🤣

these are the other options.

Oswin
Jago
Magnus
Neo
Roux
Marcel
Seb

Think Roux is too close to the making of a sauce and also he’ll be questioned on how to spell it.

love Magnus, always have, he’d be called Maggie? I don’t know. People love a nickname.

neo.. also like it but will people think I’ve named him after Neyo - the singer.

anyway, it’s a big deal naming a baby. I want something easy to say and spell, not tooo common.

My son is: Saxon
I love it so much, just looking for something to go with it.

help and please be nice….

Love love love Jago

Greenmoonshining · 13/09/2025 18:55

From your list, Jago is my absolute winner

GameofPhones · 13/09/2025 19:03

You could call him Ru if his full name is Rupert.

GetTheGoodLookingGuy · 13/09/2025 19:06

If you like Reuben and the sound of Roux, why not name him Reuben and call him Reu/Roo for short?

Crazyubermum · 13/09/2025 19:08

Jago is unique
how about Jude

timetochangethering · 13/09/2025 19:09

Fergus
Edwin
Ewan or Euan
Marcus
Pasco
Jude
Oscar

and ChatGPT has suggested;
Leif
Cassian
Otto
Ansel
Soren
Lucien
Dashiell
Evander
Ivo
Blaise

Of yours;
Jago is cornish I think (and like it)

Neo is way to "Matrix" and a definite no
Definitely not Roux

Crimblecrumble1990 · 13/09/2025 19:20

Rory? I like your list. No one would blink an eyelid at these names at my kiddies school, not the parents or their peers.

Yeah I don’t like any of these names except maybe the last two.

Roux is either a sauce or reddish-brown in French.

Neo - reminds me of the main character in the matrix.

It’s fine to be unusual but there is normally a reason names are unusual - they aren’t well liked. You may like them but your kid may not. Also consider a lifetime of teasing, constant spelling and putting that name on a cv.

Keep thinking.

Dying to know where you live cause my mind is blown by these name suggestions!

Honestly, we drove through a village called “saxmundham” and I thought “Sax” that’s cool, and then that led to Saxon….

and that was it, my partner liked it and if we ever had a boy he was Saxon. We fell pregnant a couple of months after that moment :)

Funny how people are different. When I think SaxI think saxophone or sex said funny.

More likely to have though the first as that is rhe actual short form of that word.

OP please consider your child and a life of teasing. Ridicule, constant spelling and putting rhe name on a cv.

Whats cute for a baby isn’t cute for life.

HarbourClankCat · 13/09/2025 19:44

Magnus in our family. Fully grown and never been called Maggie or Gus. Great name.

Timeforabitofpeace · 13/09/2025 19:47

Depends where you live. Some of these names sound quite outlandish to uk ears

Osric
Ruan (means ‘ruddy’ Roo/Ru for short)
Viking
Oaken
Thorin

we call him Saxon normally - we don’t usually shorten it, I think it’s a very strong name for a man and I feel it will grow with him.

we are now swaying towards Cassius. :)

As soon as I saw your thread title and before reading the post, I was going to say Jago. And there it is on your list!

Mangobanana55 · 13/09/2025 20:02

Saxon and Asa

I really liked Jack but thought it might be too popular. I actually know 4 jacks amongst friends children but actually all but 1 is the only Jack in their year.

Alltheparmesanplease · 13/09/2025 20:10

Saxon and Onyx

Davros · 13/09/2025 20:13

Saxon sounds like a gladiator
