Turn your son in knowing it’s the death penalty?

TaupeLemur · 12/09/2025 15:28

Kirk’s killer has apparently been turned in by his family - or persuaded to hand himself in.
Trump &’his supporters have been very vocal about getting the death penalty for the shooter.

would YOU hand your child over, knowing that the electric chair would be the likely outcome?

YANBU - I wouldn’t turn him in to die.

YABU - I would he’s a killer and deserves all he gets

Its weirdly infantilising and patronising - women aren’t supposed to use their own minds, they need to be told what to think, who to dislike without question and what the correct opinions are 😁

This is a good example of the effects of misogyny..

Typical leftist word salad.

It’s a straight forward sentence.

They really aren't. As I say there are people alive in the UK right now who were against marital rape becoming a crime. There are plenty more in fundamental Christian churches.

Only in Christian churches or would that just be one of many?

In short - I don’t take everything people say at face value. Just because you think Charlie Kirk was misogynistic or bigoted, I’m under no obligation to believe you or trust your judgment over my own. I don’t outsource my thinking to others. I’m perfectly capable of listening to him and forming my own views. Your opinions and thoughts are your own, and no one is obliged to share them.

It's the Kirks of the world saying this though isn't it? He said TaylorSwift needs to accept that her husband will be in charge. Isn't that infantilising and dictatorial?

So what if he did? Why do you care? It’s his opinion. He’s entitled to it. You don’t share it - fine.

You seem very combative. No one is telling you to do any of this…

Charlie Kirk, a flawed human being, is being hated and vilified and his words being twisted and misrepresented for simply encouraging debate over the, Godly, Christian principles in which he believed.

He was killed for his freedom of thought and his freedom of speech simply because the Truth incites hatred. Lies hate being debated because Truth illuminates the lie.

Christ Jesus, who spoke Truth was killed because of the screaming demands of a baying mob. Charlie Kirk is now with his Lord and Saviour. Those who love him most will find some comfort in that.

In any case, this would suggest that the far right and far left have much more in common than they’d like to think. Both intolerant and bigoted.

Dear God, what a nihilistic attitude. Of course we should care when people with large platforms and influence spread misogynistic and bigoted attitudes. Of course we should speak out against it.

Look, on the one hand you are offended by 'leftists' apparently telling women how to think. On the other you don't care about men telling women to submit to their husbands, relinquish control of their lives and let Charlie Kirk dictate how many babies they should have. Why such a double standard?

In America there’s a really effective way of avoiding the death penalty in cases where you blow a hole in a man’s neck with a rifle in front of his wife and kids.

Don’t.

Exactly. I don’t want to him to be jailed and receive love letters from crazed leftists and live an otherwise comfortable life, like Chris Watts.

I want him executed as an example to other violent young men.

CanSeeClearlyNowTheRainHasGone · 13/09/2025 09:33

Rightandwrong · 12/09/2025 15:33

I totally disagree with the death penalty.

Why?

If you have someone who has killed, on a whim, and no chance of it being a wrongful conviction, and sees nothing wrong in what they did...

Or to put it another way, why when a lion kills a person who stupidly jumps into their enclosure, is there not outrage at killing the lion following its instincts.

BTW, I am not advocating for the death penalty. I just want to know why you hold that opinion beyond "it's wrong"

I think turning him in was the only way to at least try and avoid the death penalty. They would have known that an arrest wouldn't have been far away - with a chance of a shooting death during the arrest as well.

I think you are right. He was never going to escape given the images that had been caught, so handing him in was the best chance for him to avoid being shot, or possibly avoid the death penalty.

I hope Trump does not get the right to decide the death penalty for him with a thumbs down equivalent as though he were a Roman emperor.

Coconutter24 · 13/09/2025 09:33

Rosscameasdoody · 13/09/2025 08:38

I actually don’t think the world stands to gain anything at all from his death because as you say, his words will now be amplified. From the bombardment of news and comment that’s been going in the days following his murder, I think he’s well on the way to be held up as a martyr for his cause, and that’s a really dangerous thing. And given the platform from which he operated I doubt it will be long before some Kirk wannabe springs up to take his place. Those celebrating his murder clearly aren’t capable of grasping the hammer blow it’s dealt to free speech.

I disagree, if his words are amplified then the world can gain something. He spoke a lot of truth and facts, yes somethings he spoke were not in my beliefs but I agreed with him on more stuff than I didn’t.

It’s not a double standard at all. I don’t want anyone telling me what to think, how to think or who to pay attention to. It’s that simple. People don’t need to be told what their opinions are, or should be. They decide that for themselves.

I’m not interested in ‘speaking out’ - it’s a peculiar belief on the left that speaking out is a moral obligation. It’s not - why the hell should I listen to your views in particular, or find your opinions more relevant than anyone else’s? Speak out all you want - I don’t care.

Plastictreees · 13/09/2025 09:34

@CantCallItLove This demonstrates exactly what I mentioned earlier. It is like trying to tell someone how to calculate the height of a tree, but they don’t believe in Pythagoras theory…

BengalBangle · 13/09/2025 09:35

My DtwinDs are only 7, but no, I don't think I would ever dob them in and, if a crime they committed might be punishable by state sanctioned death, I'd likely do everything I could to help them avoid that.

But you do care. You told us we shouldn't call Kirk a misogynist without providing evidence. I provided evidence at your request. You then decided it doesn't matter if he's a misogynist or not and told me I shouldn't care about it either. I have been answering your questions, providing the citations you have requested - and your answer is that you don't care. So why did you ask in the first place? Why challenge my assertion that Kirk was a misogynist if it doesn't matter to you either way?

I should start by saying I’m fundamentally opposed to the death penalty.

I wouldn’t hand my own child over the the police knowing it was the death penalty however sure I was they were guilty and however heinous their crime.

Even if it was logically the right thing to do, I think only a psychopath could knowing contribute to / bring about their own child’s death.

In effect you would condoning their crime which seems awful.

What about if they were going to get ab75 year prison sentence instead.

Would you then??
