Turn your son in knowing it’s the death penalty?

1000 replies

TaupeLemur · 12/09/2025 15:28

Kirk’s killer has apparently been turned in by his family - or persuaded to hand himself in.
Trump &’his supporters have been very vocal about getting the death penalty for the shooter.

would YOU hand your child over, knowing that the electric chair would be the likely outcome?

YANBU - I wouldn’t turn him in to die.

YABU - I would he’s a killer and deserves all he gets

@Tatemoderndrawyourown

Apologies, I misunderstood.

sorry for being rude.

Costcogroupie · 13/09/2025 06:26

It was just a matter of time before the keystone kops caught up with the guy. If the family hadn't turned him in they could have been guilty of harbouring an assassin. Not a good outcome either way.

Anon501178 · 12/09/2025 23:40

Surely not for child murderers? :-/

Not for anyone. The worst offenders should be locked up for life in total solitary, no outside contact, no tv/books, no daylight or fresh air until they lose their sanity. Human rights? Very few.

Clonakilla · 13/09/2025 06:44

I don’t support the death penalty and certainly don’t think Charlie Kirk was a benign ‘holder of opinions’ who just liked to ‘debate’. I think peoole who say that are either extremely naive or similarly dreadful people who secretly endorse, for example, white supremacist views.

But had my son do this I couldn’t take the risk that he wouldn’t do it again, including to his own family. It is not normal,
reasonable behaviour and there is no reason to belive that it will stop.

whimsicallyprickly · 13/09/2025 06:12

Do we know this now? For sure?

I'm wondering about the inscriptions on the bullet/s

If the assassin IS another RW maga nut job....I wonder if maga will ever admit this?

Well he's from Utah, he's white, his family are religious (either Mormon or Christian not clear), his family are Republican, his father is ex police/law enforcement and they're really into guns. Does he sound left wing?
Also it's all over the Internet that he's a follower of Nick Fuentes (who is alt right). So being honest here, not 100% sure, but if it walks like a duck and quacks like a duck etc etc

Good points. Well made 🙂

I'm sure we'll find out his rationale for shooting Kirk eventually

Lots of confused children turn to leftist ideology. We see a lot of trans ID children from otherwise normal families. He was said to be a Redditor and active on Discord and placed antifascist messages on the bullet casings. He also mentioned to his family that Kirk was hateful and spreading hate (he was doing no such thing, who would say this?)__

His father is not ex policeman- that was people getting mixed up with someone else of the same name - showing how easily incorrect information spreads

Tyler Robinson's father, Matt Robinson, runs a construction business. His mother, Amber Denise, works in disability services, helping people access care.

The Nick Fuentes link is pure speculation based on one of casings having "Oh, Bella Ciao, Bella Ciao, Bella Ciao, Ciao," a likely reference to an anti-fascist Italian folk song - which recently has also been linked to Nick Fuentes. One of the casings had "Hey fascist, catch!" - so the two together could just as easily represent anti-fascists leanings as far right.

Is that somehow more humane?

I see this thread descended in to the usual
cess pit last night.

“the lefties are dangerous!”
”NO! The right wing nutters are dangerous!”

Among the usual boring insults and the odd “if you don’t agree with me you’re a white supremacist”

We’ve all but lost the art of debate. It doesn’t matter what the kid’s political leanings were - they were extreme. He was an extremist. Can’t people try and make an effort to come back to the middle?

DriveVerySlowlyPastNumber23IWantThemToSeeMyHat · 12/09/2025 15:32

If all evidence is a definite that's him and he admits it, why shouldn't it be a death penalty?

Kirk's 2 children are now growing up without a Daddy.

That's beside the point. The OP asked whether you would hand your own child in in these circumstances.

EasternStandard · 13/09/2025 07:41

Platypuslover · 13/09/2025 00:07

He is a patsy. He could not have made that sh0t nor would you be able to identify anyone from that footage. It’s the usual Trump sacrifice to distract from him.

no one mentioned the schoolshooting that took place the same day!

There’s enough speculation on the shooter’s beliefs and random low stuff on dc being better off without their parent, baseless misinformation added on top doesn’t help.

HonoriaBulstrode · 12/09/2025 23:23

Is this the level of debate these days? ChatGPT says so, so it must be true?

Jesus wept.

Pretty sad really isn't it.

The thread is full of them. Its horrific.

smallpinecone · 12/09/2025 23:03

It’s a waste of time trying to reason with people like that. They’re so consumed by hatred they can’t argue rationally. It’s all emotion and anger.

THIS but no one is reporting her posts! Its all there for us all to see 🙂

susiedaisy1912 · 13/09/2025 07:55

Yes I would hand my son in.

It’s current left wing ideology, it’s just a huge problem now. It reminds me of some sort of witch hunter cult from the Middle Ages. If one good thing comes out of this, it’s that something will start to be done about them.

I hope so 🙏

The only disturbed posts I see are from you and @ThatWaryOchreQuoter which have been deleted as they’re full of personal insults and attacks. Hopefully you’ve calmed down overnight and can construct any sort of logical argument rather than meaningless hyperbole.

I just read through and it really went off the deep end overnight! It will probably look like Swiss cheese when MNHQ get on it later.

MN has always been a place for robust - very robust! - debate and people have always expressed views quite radically different to one another but this particular issue seems to have attracted some highly emotional contributions with very little substance and no tolerance for hearing other views along with wilful disregard for facts and reality. I think this murder has raised such interesting and important issues around gun violence, extremism, the death penalty, free speech and propaganda - and MN would usually be the place to come and read a lot of bracing and intelligent discussion but it's just gone wild.

CantCallItLove · 13/09/2025 08:05

However, given that Trump has refused to call for unity and a far-right rally is being organised in London, I can only see things getting worse.

This thread alone has been a frightening read for me. Why would so many mothers protect their sons from the consequences of violence? On a purportedly feminist site?

Why protect violent men?

The shooters father did the right thing. He didn’t claim the reward money btw. I hope his execution is filmed live as a warning to other violent young men.

Yes, you’ve articulated very well why this shooting has drawn so much attention and debate. I enjoyed debating the nuance last night, people made some really good points about free speech that I hadn’t considered before.

Debates can either be eristic (the sole aim is to win and crush your opponent, regardless of the topic) or dialectic (you debate your ‘opponent’ respectfully and with an open mind) the latter surely being a win/win because you either come away from the discussion more certain of your position, or you learn something. This is what is fundamental in this case to me and it would have been heartening if a man being shot for his opinions could have been a catalyst to reminding people to be a little more respectful when listening to other sides of an argument. But it appears to have gone the opposite way.

It’s scary isn’t it. At the end of the day, Men will keep doing the awful thing things they do for years to come - rape, murder, abuse, etc - because they KNOW they can get away with it.

Really? Most threads I see just descend into name calling and personal insults. Usually the same one or two posters will derail the thread by doing this, which is what’s happened here. MN needs a better moderation system which isn’t reliant on just deleting reported posts. I also believe an ‘ignore’ function would be helpful so those who wish to can engage in a critical discussion or debate without being subjected to repeat personal attacks by the same posters.
