Turn your son in knowing it’s the death penalty?

1000 replies

TaupeLemur · 12/09/2025 15:28

Kirk’s killer has apparently been turned in by his family - or persuaded to hand himself in.
Trump &’his supporters have been very vocal about getting the death penalty for the shooter.

would YOU hand your child over, knowing that the electric chair would be the likely outcome?

YANBU - I wouldn’t turn him in to die.

YABU - I would he’s a killer and deserves all he gets

I wouldn't turn my child in for anything. I agree with the death penalty if 100%guilty but there's nothing my child could do that would mean I'd want them dead.

That doesn't make sense!

So, I have spent the evening on this thread debating in the exact style of Charlie Kirk, as per several open AI models and his own debating techniques.

I have:

  • picked a sensationalist standpoint
  • rapid fired my opinion
  • done some belittling and mocking
  • used “facts” but tweaked them just enough to support my exact viewpoint (to be honest this was actually really hard as he straight up DID say almost every single one of those awful things)
  • Tried to turn the question/topic to suit my own pre-planned agenda
  • Swung between more measured/gentle debate and hammering my sensationalist point

and the people who hated it most? The Charlie Kirk fans. Grin

Makes me laugh how all these “pro lifers” lose their beliefs when it comes to the death penalty.

And wars. How many pregnant women, babies and children have been killed by US bombs ( among others’)?

EmeraldShamrock000 · 12/09/2025 22:59

I'd want to protect DS from the death penalty, not from prison.
I would be horrified that he could kill a man in cold blood.

LovePoppy · 12/09/2025 22:59

He’s a white man raised by republicans. They’ve walked back the screaming for the death penalty.

that was only for “the left” or minorities

ThatWaryOchreQuoter · 12/09/2025 23:01

DorothyGaleFromKansas · 12/09/2025 22:52

In that case, you also agree that his girls are better off. He would have forced them to do that, and now he is dead he can no longer force his children to give birth to a rapist’s baby. They are better off. Glad you’ve finally got it!

Are you seriously saying his children are going to be raped now? Wtf is wrong with you guys?

It’s a waste of time trying to reason with people like that. They’re so consumed by hatred they can’t argue rationally. It’s all emotion and anger.

Not a ‘fan’ of CK or your stance. He wasn’t someone I knew of until the news broke. I still don’t agree with your take on his dc being better off that he was assassinated.

Perhaps that’s what the family of the shooter were pinning their hopes on, someone online SM rhetoric has definitely cooled down.

He said that if his daughter was r#ped at 10 & got pregnant she would have to carry the baby to term , those children are better off without him .

And plenty of people on here have just said they would turn their kids over to certain death if they murdered someone, are their kids also better off without them? Are they all such abhorrent people that the world would be better off without them?

Not my stance. How Charlie Kirk would debate this according to chatGPT.

Who are you referring to? The only person who can’t argue rationally on this thread who is full of anger, is a CK defender who has had multiple posts removed…

However I would like to add that I DO think Charlie Kirk’s stance on women and his comments about his daughters were vile and disgusting.

I think it’s appalling that a 31 year old man was murdered in front of his family, simply because some people disagreed with his opinions.

Although I disagreed with plenty he said, does that make me a CK ‘defender’?

StarDolphins · 12/09/2025 23:08

I’m for the death penalty- murderers, rapists, animal abusers.

How would everyone feel if it had been the other way around, and your child had been shot in the throat in front of you and their young family.. Would you still hold the same opinion that the death penalty is "unethical"?

If your daughter had been raped and beaten to death at a young age, would you then deem the death penalty as being "unethical" OR would you want the perpetrator to be given the same fate?

As hard as it would be, I would definitely hand him over. If he's willing to assasinate someone in front of hundereds of people, Including his wife and children, just because they disagree with their beliefs, that certainly wouldn't be the one and only murder they commit.

I hope I would still hold firm to my beliefs that the death penalty is wrong, but I am grateful to live in a country where no matter how much anger and grief was impacting on my feelings I would not be able to influence the state killing someone. I don't believe it brings any real peace to victims.

It’s the death penalty that changes it for me.

If this was in the UK, and was my son, absolutely I would turn him in so it is in no way that I would want to help him avoid taking responsibility. It is an awful thing he has done and he should be held accountable.

But I fundamentally disagree with the death penalty, for anyone, so I truly don’t know.

Edited

100% this. I cannot and will not ever support state murder.

I wouldn't turn anyone in if the death penalty was likely. Neither would I find them guilty as a juror. It's barbaric and has no place in a civilised society.

neither do murders, would you keep rabid dog alive too?
