Turn your son in knowing it’s the death penalty?

1000 replies

TaupeLemur · 12/09/2025 15:28

Kirk’s killer has apparently been turned in by his family - or persuaded to hand himself in.
Trump &’his supporters have been very vocal about getting the death penalty for the shooter.

would YOU hand your child over, knowing that the electric chair would be the likely outcome?

YANBU - I wouldn’t turn him in to die.

YABU - I would he’s a killer and deserves all he gets

So... the conclusion from this thread so far. That terrorism is coming from the left (dangerously)

What!?

And now ive just seen someone is getting my posts deleted my MNHQ!! good one!! Another example of the left not agreeing with conflicting ideas and just pressing delete!

MN delete personal attacks like calling people “a fucking psycho”, I believe it was? Personally I’m happy for your insults to stand as it speaks to your character, but 🤷‍♀️

DorothyGaleFromKansas · 12/09/2025 21:26

@MyLimeGuide

I mean, YOU car about my respect, seeing as you literally just told me I had to show some.

Forcing children to have rape babies is immoral. You seem to be confusing me with Charlie Kirk again.

Are you trying to get me to retaliate so you can report me again??!!! Grow up

I’ve not reported you once - I find you deeply amusing.

TonTonMacoute · 12/09/2025 21:32

TaupeLemur · 12/09/2025 21:18

He’s not being misquoted - one of the benefits of being an ‘influencer’ meant he made sure everything was filmed and recorded, and the more outrageous the better because that meant more $$$$
He didn’t give a fuck. Freedom of speech right?
Claiming he was misquoted because you’re a fan who finds some of his nonsense too
much, too distasteful, too extreme is pointless. It’s reported and recorded. He didn’t care, why should you?
He believed white men should be in charge of EVERYTHING.
There’s an irony in the fact his murderer is almost certainly a better person.

Except that he didn't actually murder anyone, and his murderer did! 🤷‍♀️

WhereIsMyJumper · 12/09/2025 21:33

Rosscameasdoody · 12/09/2025 21:30

What you said was that he held the view that women should not be allowed to vote. What he said in that article was not that. I’m not denying that he said some odious things, but misquoting doesn’t help. There are some things that have been taken entirely out of the context of the conversation in which they were said, completely changing their meaning.

I agree- that’s what I read too.
It really doesn’t help - tell us you hate him for what he said all you like. He has said some ridiculous things - but if people twist and misquote it just makes me suspicious of everything else they have said.

TaupeLemur · 12/09/2025 21:34

I can’t begin to imagine what the parents were going through, realising their son had done this and deciding to turn him in.
Their lives are never going to be the same again, son in death row, others kids to try to protect and living with the notoriety of their sons’s crime.

He has literally been misquoted on this post. I also keep seeing important context missed off some of the things he has said.

I have never said anywhere I am a fan. That’s because I am not. I have even said some of the stuff he has come out with is ridiculous. Because it is. I just don’t like people twisting the truth to further their own arguments or people somehow making out that people deserve to die simply for speaking.

It seems he made a lot of comments which require a great deal of context in order to not sound horrifying. Most people don't say so many terrible things that can be so apparently easily twisted. How strange that in his own words he said so very many things that sounded misogynistic, racist, cruel and outrageous but only in isolation. I think perhaps he shouldn't have been an influencer if his words could be pulled into dangerous and offensive soundbites and in order to understand what he REALLY meant, people need to go and find out reams of background in order to see how him saying eg that women should submit to their husbands or that 'prowling blacks' pose a danger to white people are actually completely reasonable statements.

Most people don't say those things in the first place, you know. At some point, all the context in the world doesn't justify that kind of bigotry.

Avantiagain · 12/09/2025 21:35

He would have been found anyway and quite likely it would have ended in a shoot out putting other people at risk.
Handing himself in is the best chance he has got of avoiding the death penalty.

TaupeLemur · 12/09/2025 21:35

TonTonMacoute · 12/09/2025 21:32

I dont agree with the death penalty.

Id turn him in, in the UK becuase i do think murder deserves jail time. But id never turn in a relative for the death penalty

Whereas the Trump administration today announcing that anyone who has been 'rationalising or making light of Kirk's death' online won't be allowed in the country demonstrates how the right are such champions of free speech.

...oh wait. Not that kind of speech!

Oh so if you retaliate because she says things you don't like...that's her fault? I thought that your entire point is that we SHOULDN'T get angry at other people because we disagree with them?

But whether I'm legally responsible or not doesn't alter whether or not I caused it.

If your words inspire 10 people to kill someone else, then you've caused more death than if you'd taken a gun and shot 9 and your words are more dangerous than 9 of your bullets.

The reason there's not a legal responsibility is because it's impossible to put the cause down to JUST that and you'd have to analyse what else happened to those 10 killers to make them so susceptible to doing this. It would be almost impossible to prove (although to directly tell someone to kill someone else IS a crime and can be prosecuted if they follow through on it.)

However, it doesn't alter the fact that 10 people are now dead who would not be dead if you hadn't said those things.

Charlie Kirk and others of his ilk have caused untold misery by radicalising young men into toxic masculinity. In fact, I've not met anyone who HASN'T been affected by it in some way. I don't think his death will actually improve anything, because there are plenty of others who will pop up in his place, but I will not grieve a moment for the death of someone so awful.

I have to be honest, every time the topic of free speech comes up this is where I am completely torn and I haven’t yet been able to form a full opinion on it.

This has literally just come in to my head as I type… So, for example, if a cult leader brainwashed his cult following in to murdering people - then those words he spoke to them are at least as dangerous as the weapons used to kill people. Perhaps more so as those people would quite likely not have killed had they not heard those words.

Hmmmm - I think I am getting where you are coming from now. Fair play, you bested me on that one.

ETA: I am not mourning his death either, I didn’t know him so how could I. I just don’t agree he should have been shot for what he said (again - I know you haven’t said he should)

If anyone wonders why men are such a mess,
consider that a surprising amount of mothers won’t turn their own sons over to the law even if they murdered someone.

Awful. Consider your husband might kill you and your MIL will protect him. 😭😭😭

Exactly this.

Mumsnet is full to the brim of women (justifiably in most cases) railing against the ills of men but some can’t see past the end of their own nose when it comes to their sons.

’Yes, I know he’s a cold blooded murderer/serial killer/rapist/pedo but he’s my wickle boy’.

Deeply concerning but very telling.

@MyLimeGuide you aren’t Charlie Kirk, you’re not surrounded by your bros cheering every insult and personal attack that comes out of your mouth on your own ‘channel’.
if you break the MN guidelines for posting then your post will be deleted…

me too @WhereIsMyJumper - we debated this on another Charlie Kirk thread a day or two ago, where I tried to impress that words carry power and can be dangerous, and I also really respect the change of opinion. And also props to @InMyShowgirlEra for clearly elaborating better than I did!

HaroldMeaker · 12/09/2025 21:48

The moment the pictures of this suspected killer were online across the world it was a matter of days for him to be caught. So I don’t think his family had a choice but to hand him in.
If my son had done this particular murder and escaped unseen? No, I wouldn’t report him.
