Turn your son in knowing it’s the death penalty?

1000 replies

TaupeLemur · 12/09/2025 15:28

Kirk’s killer has apparently been turned in by his family - or persuaded to hand himself in.
Trump &’his supporters have been very vocal about getting the death penalty for the shooter.

would YOU hand your child over, knowing that the electric chair would be the likely outcome?

YANBU - I wouldn’t turn him in to die.

YABU - I would he’s a killer and deserves all he gets

What people don’t seem able to see is that you can think murder is bad and no want someone murdered, but also think they were a bad person. That doesn’t mean you are celebrating death or glad they have died. I don’t think he deserved to die for being a hateful person, but he has died and I am not going to pretend to be sad about it when he stood for absolutely all that was wrong with toxic masculinity.

It appears he wasn't a Left wing libtard after all. Much pivoting going on amongst a certain cohort now. The shock of it all really to think the deceased wasn't far right enough so had to be eliminated. Jostle for position imminent.

Where are you reading this?

Gingernessy · 12/09/2025 20:48

NamelessNancy · 12/09/2025 15:33

I wouldn't turn anyone in if the death penalty was likely. Neither would I find them guilty as a juror. It's barbaric and has no place in a civilised society.

What about the victim?
So you would favour the perpetrator?

Did I miss the part where people magically stop being a terrible person just because they’ve died?

Charlie Kirk was an absolutely heinous excuse of a human being. Did he deserve to be murdered for it? No of course not, and nowhere have I said he did. But it is also not sad that a person who spent their life promoting hate and bigotry is dead.

And you have zero empathy for his family who were beside him when he was murdered.

EasternStandard · 12/09/2025 20:49

It’s a lot better than proudly announcing you’d force your raped child to give birth to their rapist’s baby.

In fact, I’m actively wishing a more promising future for them than their own father did.

No it’s really bad. You don’t need to post it.

There Was a thread immediately after it happened, majority of the comments were like this.

Scary how they walk among us.

The world is a scary place right now, some people don’t seem to realise how scary. I personally would not have been against someone taking out Adolf Hitler in the 1930s before his rise, we’re in similar circumstances. Many didn’t see that coming either.

CaptainMyCaptain · 12/09/2025 20:51

Rosscameasdoody · 12/09/2025 20:41

So basically what you’re saying is that Kirk deserved what he got, and his family, who witnessed the horrific event, are collateral damage in that ? His children may not remember it, but his wife certainly will. You should be ashamed of yourself.

But he used those words himself, 'collateral damage ', about children killed in school shootings. He defends the right to carry guns and he ended up getting shot himself. So be it. Meh!

DorothyGaleFromKansas · 12/09/2025 20:37

I am not sorry for saying his daughters will be better off in the long run. Their father didn’t believe they should be allowed to vote, or have an education unless it was with the express purpose of finding a husband. He believed they should have to carry rape babies even as children themselves. He believed they should submit to their husbands in all things - so domestic violence, marital rape - they should just suck it up. They are better off.

I can't find any evidence he thought women shouldn't be able to vote so I didn't even bother to fact check the rest of what you wrote.

I don’t need to post it? Charlie Kirk was all for freedom of speech, no woke censorship. So here I am, honouring his death by doing exactly what he would have wanted. 🤷‍♀️

I would argue that words are far more dangerous. CK has a huge influence over a lot of people. He used his platform to set back restrictions on gun ownership, women's rights, rights for people of colour and gay people, among others. He spread false claims including that the election was "stolen" and contributed to causing the riots after Biden's election. He has caused far more damage than someone who shot one person- especially when you factor in the rise in violent criminals coming out of MAGA and the things they've done.

He said that gun deaths were "unfortunate" but a fair price to pay. He literally said that gun victims were a fair trade off. He said that shooting victims and their families must not be allowed to "emotionally hijack the narrative". He also said that empathy was a bad thing, so if (for some strange reason) you have any respect for him, it would be against his wishes to express empathy for him or his family.

Unless of course you're admitting he was a massive hypocrite who was fine with OTHER people dying, and OTHER people not getting empathy, but not for himself.

No. Words are not more dangerous than bullets.
If you told me to shoot my next door neighbour and I did it, who out of the two of us is the dangerous one? Everyone should take responsibility for their own actions, their own ability to think critically. You cannot blame words for other people’s actions.

Secondly, you are about the 50th person I have seen completely miss out half of the ‘empathy’ quote. He actually said he preferred the term sympathy. So now I’m not going to be able to believe all of the other stuff you have said that he has supposedly said.

I don’t have any respect for CK per se, I obviously never knew him. I’m just arguing against the narrative that he somehow deserved to be shot and especially when people use out of context/half missing quotes to justify it.

WhereIsMyJumper · 12/09/2025 20:44

I don’t recall anywhere hearing that Kirk thought women shouldn’t vote or be educated or any of the rest of it.

But even if it is true consider this… do you hold the same political views now that you did ten years ago? I know I don’t. I’ve evolved and changed as I have matured (and hope to keep doing so until the day I die) some things I would have said ten years ago would make me shudder now. Kirk’s views were not set in stone, nobody’s are. The problem is, any chance he may have had to evolve and grow and change has been taken away from him. And you are actually happy about it.

He did not say women should not be educated. He said their main reason for going to university should be to find a husband.

And he did not say it 10 years ago (getting young woman to have children early is an obsession of his).

Same here.

Where are you reading this?

Elsewhere online, he comes from a conservative Republican religious family, so not hard a hard left fan I'd imagine, and I read that his possible motive was that CK was not right wing enough. Therefore my comment about jostling for position to be the next Hard Right debater.

But we will know soon enough what's going on. I admit that speculation online is not a great basis for debate, but sometimes I can't resist.

Colinfromaccounts · 12/09/2025 20:54

It’s the only thing you can do, really. There’s no situation where hiding him or going on the run works out better than turning him in. If you don’t immediately turn him in you’re probably going to prison for a long time too.

InMyShowgirlEra · 12/09/2025 20:46

Yeh, my political views have slightly changed over the years, like I've changed my opinion slightly on education and the economy. I've not changed my mind on whether human beings are equal to one another.

Neither have I but that’s really not the point.

FishPie2 · 12/09/2025 20:56

Not read the whole thread but I would have turned him in within a heartbeat.
He could have shot anyone within his family.

reminder that more white American women voted for Trump than for Harris. So it was a stupid meme (as I thought at the time)

That said it was a bit disgusting, why hide your political views in a marriage? Free and open discussion is a cornerstone of a good marriage, and if you don’t have that, you should probably reconsider the relationship.

Horrible situation for the parents to be in, but they did the right thing. Far left extremism is a huge problem, we need to keep an eye on what our kids are watching online,
