Why did I promise a K-Pop Demon Hunters party

My daughter is turning 9 in a couple of weeks and I have promised her a k-pop demon hunter theme party with a few close friends at home. Now I’m wondering what the hell I’m going to do for it!!!

I have body pens and hair glitter and noodle pots from the film plus the soundtrack. As the film is so new there’s very little online and I’m stuck for ideas, plus any merch takes weeks to get here. I was thinking of doing a demon hunter quest, quiz and games of some kind but don’t know where to start. Anyone have any ideas!

I know I shouldn’t have promised this without planning it first :-/

Any ideas what I can do?

Yes they have all seen it and loved it. They have seen the film so many times I don’t think I’ll get away with just putting that on. 🤣

On the contrary! If they love it as much as my 8 year old and her friends, they are able to watch it again and again... and again! Pop the sing along version on! They'll sing for two hours. Job done :)
Says I with 'you're my soda pop, my little soda pop' firmly lodged in my brain for the past 5 weeks solid...

Obsesetits · 07/09/2025 10:18

I mean, a big part of the lion king was that Scar viciously threw his own brother to his death and tried to have a child murdered.
Demon hunters is pretty tame. Yes there’s the killing of demons, but it’s not gruesome, gory or graphic.

8 is pretty young to have watched this film. Have her friends seen it?

All my kids and all their friends have seen it; they are 6, 7 and 9. Its massive for that age range imo, they all know the songs!!

WhyDoesItAlways · 07/09/2025 10:23

My son is having a small k pop party. I'm doing typical party food lunch and putting the film on. I have k pop party decs on order, cake toppers, banners, balloons etc. Ive also got some cheap insulated water bottles from shein and some k pop vinyl stickers from etsy that the kids can use to decorate their bottles which they can take home instead of party bag tat.

DP has a 3d printer so it going to print some k pop fidget spinners and some light wand stick thing from the film for the kids too.

SomethingFun · 07/09/2025 10:25

Get loads of different fizzy drinks and everyone can create their own little soda pop. Gold jewellery making stuff and/or cake decorating stuff to make themselves or a cake Golden. Purple face paint to make patterns. Musical statues but you have to freeze in a demon pose. Pass the parcel with some Korean sweets. Karaoke and dance routines. I want to come!

25 in class and we have a class WhatsApp group where it was talked about. It’s OK, we can have different experiences and opinions regarding a film.

We can have different opinions. But when you post an obvious lie then it seems a silly waste of time.

Makemakee · 07/09/2025 10:26

Thank you, just ordered these for party bags. So much more manageable when there is just a handful coming.

Thanks everyone for your ideas. I’m pulling them all together.

You not believing something doesn’t make it a lie. It’s just you not believing something. I have no motivation to lie and it’s not concern of mine whatsoever if you believe me or not. You asked a question. I answered it.

Anyway, we should allow OP to make the best use of her party planning thread now.

Folling, DD wants a Kpop DH sleepover I've foolishly agreed to make a Derpy Tiger cake...

ihavetocookagain · 07/09/2025 10:37

Get some plain cotton bags, fabric pens(all Amazon), tracing paper (white greaseproof) if bags too thick to see pictures through, print a load of pictures from KpopDH Google, get them to decorate their own party bag . Seal them with iron(been a while since mine did this kind of thing. Don’t want to do bags, then do mugs and pottery/porcelain pens). Find YouTube/tictok videos breaking down how to do the dances, if they don’t know them yet. Get shrinkles or shrinkydinks and some keychains and again lots of printed pictures from Google, get them to make their own keyrings.
get hair chalk to colour their hair. Think you can get printed bun/cake toppers of your design probably off eBay or Amazon. Print off the song words for those that don’t know them.
you can get ballon’s of Amazon, if not in your budget then go with a theme colour such as purple and black, gold(sorry not watched for a while!). See if you can get badges/pins made for it- again eBay. Tent will also sell a load of kpopDH tat.

I am pretty strict with TV/film, but my daughter who is a young 6 and won't watch most Disney because they're "too scary" absolutely LOVES it. She was introduced to it by her 7yo cousin over summer hols when I was at work. I think doing a dance party and some games/snacks/scavenger hunt etc sounds perfect!

SpinningTops · 07/09/2025 10:48

I just asked my 9 year old whether she wanted to watch it. She said ‘what?’ with no awareness of what it is. Then said she didn’t want to because of the demons.

So it’s not that EVERYONE has seen it. Sounds like it’s not a thing around here. My 7 year old also no knowledge of it.

Gagamama2 · 07/09/2025 10:53
  • get a battery operated disco ball and do a dance party in the dark with the soundtrack
  • food: pots of noodles, those little bao buns you can get from M&S in the shape of panda faces - so cute. Korean sweets you can buy online or from specialist high st stores
  • have the kids make their own soda pops by mixing different fizzy drinks together (great suggestion by pp)
  • buy clip in brightly coloured hair peices that the kids can style into fun k pop styles
  • kawaii style temporary tattoos they can stick all over each other
  • finish eve by having the kids watch the movie, doesn’t matter if they’ve all seen it before it’s different watching it together

on the Netflix store you can buy the blue stripy cat character as a stuffy, it’s super cute and my daughter who is turning 8 wants it!

Hayley1256 · 07/09/2025 10:56

Netflix has the series on too which is good. HMV also stock the merch

IfHeWantedToHeWould · 07/09/2025 11:11

Get them to make the Korean hair towels!!

You know the one Zoey wears in the bath house? There’s tutorials online.

You saying something is true does not make it as such.

If it sounds like made up twaddle to back a silly comment made then I can say it’s a lie.

You can say you think it's a lie, not that it is one. I am the only one who knows if it's a lie or not, as I am the only one that has the information – not you. And it isn't, so what you believe or not is completely irrelevant.

Stop derailing OP's thread because you are weirdly annoyed by someone having a different opinion and experience to you regarding a film. Accept it and move on.

beautyqueeen · 07/09/2025 11:30

My 6YO is obsessed! As is all of her year 2 class, they play demon hunters at break time, all the boys and girls 😂

I’ve watched it it’s great, much less traumatising than Bambi, Dumbo and the Fox and the Hound, which she has never seen after I vowed never to watch again as a child!

Ideas…all the lights off, glow sticks and glow in the dark body paint/glitter and rave to the bangers, they could make braclets like Rumi gives Jino, you can order the coloured ponytails pretty cheaply on Temu if you’ve got time as delivery can take over a week, you could do some sort of spa part..face masks cucumbers eyes etc as they love the bath house!

This is a great suggestion! If no time for making then you could buy as a party bag filler that is useful afterwards rather than lots of tat. £2.50 a peice here amzn.eu/d/0HX1ugf

I have also today started planning a k-pop demon hunters party for kids turning 11.
has anyone seen where/how I could get reusable ramen cups that we could personalise/use for popcorn? Etsy only has stickers (downloadable) but not sure where to get the actual cups from and ideally wouldn’t be cardboard …

Yes but you might now have convinced yourself it’s a truth when in actual fact I’ve made a correct assumption. I will carry on believing you lied. You can carry on not caring what I think and the thread will no longer be derailed.

Remember you posted on here because you had a different opinion to the op. I can disagree with you, But if it helps you with closure. I believe you MAY have lied. ✌️

Carry not 'believing' what you want. It holds no relevance to the truth. I hope you are able to get on with your day and please take a breath when you don't seem to be able to let things go.

(And look up 'fact' in the dictionary while you're at it).

You may want to check the term ‘umbrage’ and worry less about what I think.

MolkosTeenageAngst · 07/09/2025 12:05

If you have an Alexa Show or similar which can play music with the lyrics up you could do karaoke, or you can probably find lyric videos on YouTube. If your house is big enough could you move furniture aside and clear an area to be the ‘stage.’ Glitter body paint and they could draw ‘patterns’ on themselves, maybe some hair mascara or similar too and they can do each others hair if the other parents wouldn’t mind, or coloured clip in hair extensions. Maybe poster/ banner making would be enjoyable, like the ones the crowd hold up at the shows, big paper and glitter pens and stickers etc would probably go down well if they are crafty. You can probably look online to print off some colouring sheets or pictures they could cut out and stick on the banners too. A big theme is friendship so friendship bracelet making may be good too, you can buy kits on Amazon.

Lots of snacks as in the film the band love snacks, look in the world food aisle in the supermarket they often sell some Asian snacks like mikado or Hello Panda biscuits, obviously I know Asia is not a homogenous place but I doubt at 9 they will care if some snacks are technically Chinese/ Japanese and not Korean it will just be exciting to have cute kawaii snacks. Or if you’re a good baker there are some good ideas for homemade desserts that look like sushi, ramen etc online, eg: https://www.reddit.com/r/Baking/comments/1mqw0ll/kpopdemonhuntersinspiredsweettreatskimbap/

I would look on Amazon too, you can get colouring books you could do instead of party bags and if you type in k-pop decorations Amazon do sell demon hunters ones which arrive in 1-2 weeks.

The Netflix shop does sell official merch too, not cheap but might be worth looking for gifts for your DD, it has wrapping paper and badge sets etc: https://www.netflix.shop/collections/kpop-demon-hunters
