Why did I promise a K-Pop Demon Hunters party

My daughter is turning 9 in a couple of weeks and I have promised her a k-pop demon hunter theme party with a few close friends at home. Now I’m wondering what the hell I’m going to do for it!!!

I have body pens and hair glitter and noodle pots from the film plus the soundtrack. As the film is so new there’s very little online and I’m stuck for ideas, plus any merch takes weeks to get here. I was thinking of doing a demon hunter quest, quiz and games of some kind but don’t know where to start. Anyone have any ideas!

I know I shouldn’t have promised this without planning it first :-/

Any ideas what I can do?

Thank you, just ordered these for party bags. So much more manageable when there is just a handful coming.

Thanks everyone for your ideas. I’m pulling them all together.

I’m glad that was helpful!
A nice activity and not really messy.

I hope the party goes brilliantly!

8 is pretty young to have watched this film. Have her friends seen it?

It's a PG, and a pretty tame one at that.

One of our local 'princess party' businesses has just added the KPDH characters to their rosta - they come to the house to play games, sing songs, do tattoos/face paint. Different prices for different lengths of time. Might be worth having a search, they have those princess party companies everywhere now.

Jesus Christ, do you have nothing better to do? No, I haven’t taken a poll or asked every child or parent there. I was talking about my impression from knowing a lot of the families. Does it actually matter to you if people talk in generalities on a casual chat forum? I can’t be bothered with this anymore.

Audio quiz! Play snippets of the songs for them to decided which ones they are, and short parts of dialogue/lines from songs for them to guess the character speaking/singing.

IllBeLookingAtTheMoon · 07/09/2025 21:37

And definitely musical chairs and pass the parcel.

I would also suggest using Just Dance or else the youtube videos of people doing just dance or fan made mash ups of other K Pop songs! Blackpink, Fifty Fifty, BTS, Babymonster ...

My 6YO is obsessed! As is all of her year 2 class, they play demon hunters at break time, all the boys and girls 😂

I’ve watched it it’s great, much less traumatising than Bambi, Dumbo and the Fox and the Hound, which she has never seen after I vowed never to watch again as a child!

Ideas…all the lights off, glow sticks and glow in the dark body paint/glitter and rave to the bangers, they could make braclets like Rumi gives Jino, you can order the coloured ponytails pretty cheaply on Temu if you’ve got time as delivery can take over a week, you could do some sort of spa part..face masks cucumbers eyes etc as they love the bath house!

Thank you!! This is a great idea - and I found a bargain box of glow sticks, wands and rings in Home Bargains this afternoon. Result 🙌

Very happy to send you the printable "my little soda pop" pop can wrappers I made on photoshop if you like? 😁
Just been through this very situation- can recommend a karaoke machine and clip-in hair thingies from Sainsbos (and earplugs for yourself). Also had some screw in disco light bulbs. The rest the kids did themselves and even made their own girl band later 🤣

I don't know what ideas you have about the cake, but this popped up on my social media feeds the other day.

Glow in the dark Derpy Tiger cake!

Maybe get some Hatsune Miku sweets/cans from this site. Not quite Demon Hunters, but in the same vein and UK stockists so will get to you quickly. My daughter got given some and honestly might be the greatest gift she ever got 😂

My 4 year old loves it

So does mine :) He's watching it with his big sisters so he wouldn't have got there on his own, but loves it nonetheless.

Seriously?? My 7 year old and all of his friends are obsessed with this movie. We’ve received several KPDH party invitations this school year! 😅

Different people do different things, I guess.

Maybe check with the parents whether their kids have seen it, I know at our school the 10 year olds have all seen it but nobody younger than that.

If the parents are ok with them seeing the film, there is a Netflix “sing along” version of it so they could watch that version and sing the songs? You could see if you can get those karaoke microphones.

Have you polled all of the children to see which age groups have watched it?? 😅

Yes, I'm aware it's a PG. We looked up a few parent review sites, such as Common Sense Media, which is usually pretty good, and it over all recommended 9+. Which I agree with, having then watched it. You don't have to agree with it yourself, it's subjective.

It was a question for OP based on her party guests, that's all.

Didimum · 08/09/2025 10:26

Sometimeswinning · 07/09/2025 13:19

You’ve not been defending yourself. You are just as guilty as derailing.

Like you said you have other people commenting on your post and not agreeing with your point. I’ll leave you with them.

I don't require my point to be agreed with. I'm not arguing a point. What other people let their kids watch and what I let my kids watch is irrelevant.

I have no idea why it bothers you so much. Nowhere have I said the kids of the parents on this thread shouldn't watch it. I have only answered for my kids and the kids in their class.

mysodapop · 08/09/2025 10:29

My 8 and 10y olds are obsessed with this movie. Ive watched it with them (many times 🤪) and it is absolutely fine for their age group. I have older teens and monitor this stuff quite closely. They are claier to 11 and 9 though. I personally prob wouldn't have let a 6/7y old watch it, but its pretty mild.

Really interested to hear how the party works out as I think I have to do one in October! I'd definitely do something around the neflfix sing along version. The soundtrack is on Spotify too.

Robin67 · 08/09/2025 10:42

My six year old is obsessed with it
I think it's pretty harmless

Maybe buy some pink or purple coloured wigs or hair extensions

See if there are any online dance tutorials to any of the songs

This is a great suggestion! If no time for making then you could buy as a party bag filler that is useful afterwards rather than lots of tat. £2.50 a peice here amzn.eu/d/0HX1ugf

If you have any friends with a 3D printer Makerworld has a load of keyrings, fidget clickers and flexi Derby and Susi type stuff on there.

Yes I have a Derpy Tiger keychain on my handbag.

Bobnobob · 08/09/2025 13:30

My 4 yo has seen it several times and loves it. I watched it with my older DD first to check it was suitable.

OxfordInkling · 08/09/2025 13:44

You said you’d do it because you are fantastic.

Now you need Copilot to help with suggestions.

You also need glow sticks, to put on the movie/soundtrack, a disco ball/disc light, and lots of really nice food plus ramen. The ramen pots are important.

Face paints to draw ‘patterns’.

Dressing up stuff fo be a k pop group.

posters (copilot can draw similar, so long as you don’t mention the film and just describe instead).

put out cupcakes/rich tea biscuits and icing for them to decorate in K-POP demon hunter style.

Foam swords and fake ‘demons’ to conquer.

etc

Userfriendly20 · 08/09/2025 18:48

My 4.5 year old has probably watched it in excess of 20 times and got me into it. I’ve already ordered her Rumi Costume for Halloween.

Absolutely nothing inappropriate about it.

To be fair not many people agree with you.

I can’t believe you’re still derailing after all the fuss you’ve made 😂
