Why did I promise a K-Pop Demon Hunters party

Makemakee · 07/09/2025 09:05

My daughter is turning 9 in a couple of weeks and I have promised her a k-pop demon hunter theme party with a few close friends at home. Now I’m wondering what the hell I’m going to do for it!!!

I have body pens and hair glitter and noodle pots from the film plus the soundtrack. As the film is so new there’s very little online and I’m stuck for ideas, plus any merch takes weeks to get here. I was thinking of doing a demon hunter quest, quiz and games of some kind but don’t know where to start. Anyone have any ideas!

I know I shouldn’t have promised this without planning it first :-/

Any ideas what I can do?

To be fair not many people agree with you.

I can’t believe you’re still derailing after all the fuss you’ve made 😂

I’m not asking people to agree with me. Not once have I suggested they should.

What fuss exactly? Replying to people who have replied to me or asked a question?

It’s beyond bizarre you have an issue with what someone states they let their kids watch. You seem defensive for some reason. Work on that and let people post their own experiences.

InfoSecInTheCity · 08/09/2025 20:03

I’m sure someone else has already suggested or done this for you but couldn’t see it in my skim through of the thread, so here is ChatGPTs ideas:

🎉 Decorations

  • Stage + Battleground Combo:
  • One corner could be a “mini K-pop stage” with metallic fringe curtains, LED fairy lights, and a Bluetooth speaker for music.
  • Another area could be the “demon hunter HQ” with fake stone wall backdrops (paper roll), paper lanterns, and toy swords or staffs on display.
  • Lighting: Use glow sticks, neon balloons, and fairy lights to give it a mystical but energetic look.
  • Themed Posters: Print posters of popular K-pop groups, but mix them with “hunter crests” or magical symbols (easy to DIY with black card + metallic pens).
  • Photo Booth: Props like toy microphones, paper swords, demon masks, and angel wings so the kids can pose as either idols or hunters.

🍱 Food

  • K-pop Snacks:
  • Mini kimbap rolls (or easier: wraps cut into sushi-style pieces).
  • Korean fried chicken bites (mild, not spicy).
  • Ramyeon cups (or instant ramen but without the spicy sachet, just chicken flavour).
  • “Dokkaebi Donuts” (demon donuts) – ring donuts with colourful glaze and candy eyes.
  • “Glow Potion Drinks” – clear cups with lemonade or soda, plus glow stick stirrers (sealed ones so no liquid leaks).
  • Fruit skewers with star-shaped melon/pineapple.
  • Themed Labels: Print small labels like “Energy Gems” (jelly sweets), “Hunter Elixirs” (fruit juice pouches), “K-pop Idol Cupcakes” (with edible glitter and music notes).

🎁 Party Bags

  • Glow sticks or LED bracelets.
  • K-pop inspired stickers (hearts, stars, microphones, music notes).
  • Small toy sword or keychain weapon (plastic, not sharp).
  • Cute notebooks and pens (idol “fan journals” or “hunter logs”).
  • Korean candy (like Choco Pie or Pepero – both available in U.K. Asian supermarkets).
  • A little face gem sticker pack (so they can do their own idol “stage makeup” later).

🎲 Activities & Games

Dance Battle (K-pop style):

  • Play a few easy K-pop songs with simple choreography (like Twice’s Cheer Up or BTS’s Dynamite).
  • Let them copy moves, or do freeze dance with the songs.

Demon Hunt Treasure Game:

  • Hide small “demons” (plastic spiders, rubber bats, or printed cut-outs) around the house.
  • Each child gets a “hunter token” (like a card or small pouch).
  • For every demon they find, they earn gems (coloured beads) to “power up.”

Make Your Idol/Hunter Mask:

  • Provide plain paper masks + craft supplies (glitter, gems, feathers, metallic pens).
  • They can choose to make a glamorous idol mask or a spooky hunter mask.

Potion Mixing Station:

  • Clear plastic cups + different coloured juices/squash.
  • Kids can mix their own “power potions.” (Keep it fun but safe, with maybe popping candy they can add in for fizz.)

Photo Booth Performance:

  • Give them toy microphones, props, and let them take turns performing mini routines or just posing dramatically.

You’ve already said this.

These AI posts are so dreary.

I wish @mnhq would ban the practice of C&ping this crap.

We can all input questions into the limited, bland and error-strewn pattern-matching mess that is AI.

Or we could talk to other humans, ones who have raised little girls and know what they like to do at parties, and share actual advice, recommendations, horror stories and anecdotes.

DD is 5 and it became very popular over the summer holidays.. all the girls in her class absolutely love it. There’s nothing wrong with it? It’s pop stars that are also demon slayers 🤣

My 5 year old and his pals love it too.

Unfortunately I’m not entirely convinced you even know what you are saying anymore. It’s the same stuff and I’ve already explained I disagree with you. You seem to struggle with that.

Nope. I just struggle with random people on the internet trying to start fights where there’s none to be had. Shocker, I guess.

Tattletail · 11/09/2025 18:01

If you are supplying food you could try to recreate some of the food they eat in the film. Maybe get some calypso drink pouches and pop your own stickers on like the healing tonics. Whatever you do will be fab.

ihavetocookagain · 13/09/2025 23:30

@Makemakeedint know if this will help but you can create large posters and cardboard cutouts using this website apparently- https://www.facebook.com/share/r/19WkvExhBG/?mibextid=wwXIfr

I’m not sure where you’re based, but I’m in Ireland and I run a company called Kidisco. We do children’s dance parties that can be themed to K-pop with choreographies, games and music built around the songs that the kids love. If you’re not local to me, you could always search for a similar entertainer or company in your own area it really takes the pressure off and keeps the kids entertained. Best of luck! It will be fun :)

PeasePuddingPottage · 16/09/2025 17:04

I'm planning this as we speak for my little girl! She will be 7yrs old! 🤣. I think it's a great film and strong female characters! Makes a change...

Makemakee · 20/09/2025 23:13

Yay, it was a success! Thanks for all of your ideas and support! Sharing best bits for anyone else having a similar panic!

The body pens I got from Amazon were a massive hit, we did each others arms with demon stripes, hair glitter & hair extension clips (Claire’s) and they found that so fun.

Personalised ramen pots filled with butter Capelli pasta - had to make seconds & they took pots home with them, with a pair of chopsticks. This was a big hit.

Played lots of musical games to sound track, they were going nuts by this point but it was worth it.

I put a spin on ‘wink murder’, so after some snacks we all sat down to ‘Takedown a Demon’ - took it in turns to be the demon hunter to try to catch out the demon. They LOVED this (and so did I) and we played loads of rounds with DH & DS joining in too.

I didn’t have time to organise a quest so I simply did the beano quiz on K-Pop Demon Hunters. They had to work as team and beat my score of 6 to when their prizes (keyrings)…of course these experts got 10/10 😂 It was a good little sit down amongst all the playing and running around.

Played K-Pop pose game (pick 2 dance poses from the film and show the kids how to copy) - when I say ‘K’ they had to pose with hands up in air above head, and when I say ‘pop’ they had to pose with them out in front together. I called out K or Pop and they had to do the right pose otherwise they were out. This was a real hit and they were sooooo good at it!

They also loved just free play, and being out in the garden on the climbing frame, so glad they had time for that too.

Got Korean and Japanese sweets and rice cakes and snacks from the Asian supermarket (literally for a qtr of the price of anything online). They liked the sweets and one of the girls was a fan of all of the snacky bits…but most of them tried things but weren’t as keen. Had other sweets treats, fruits and snacks as back up.

party bags pretty much made up from Home bargains. Got little paper craft bags and decorated with glitter gems and some of the K-pop stickers I ordered from amazon. Got the little paint set from Etsy which are lovely. Got gorgeous keyrings from Etsy as prizes.

Hi wonderful news! What body pens did you buy 😊

WhyDoesItAlways · 20/09/2025 23:44

I'd love to hear more about the personalised ramen pots. DS doesn't like ramen but was thinking of using ramen pots for popcorn.

Just for curiosity, do your kids go to a private school?

my daughter had a k pop theme party for her 8th birthday yesterday. I bought a load of chicken pot noodles (12 x regular size pots on Amazon for £9) and paid £1.50 on Etsy to download a .pdf file so I could print off K-pop designed ramen pot labels. I printed onto regular paper, cut out with scissors, and stuck to the pots with pritt stick - worked really well, even the round pot lid templates worked well on the foil. Half of the pots I emptied out, rinsed, and used for popcorn and sweets while they were watching the movie. So each kid had a pot noodle, a pot filled with popcorn/sweets, and a choice of “soda pop” (bought 12 x fanta selection pack from supermarket). It was all v easy and affordable. The girls watched the movie, drew patterns on their faces and bodies with neon face paint sticks, and had a K-pop disco outside in the dark on a bouncy castle

Lmnop22 · 21/09/2025 16:19

You can hire outdoor cinema screens - could do that and put the film on with little popcorn boxes of popcorn?

I bought large plastic cups from Home Bargains in the party section (think it was about £1 for a pack of 10) - they were just red cups but look just like a noodle pot. Printed off the Etsy design and stuck with prick stick.
