Why did I promise a K-Pop Demon Hunters party

My daughter is turning 9 in a couple of weeks and I have promised her a k-pop demon hunter theme party with a few close friends at home. Now I’m wondering what the hell I’m going to do for it!!!

I have body pens and hair glitter and noodle pots from the film plus the soundtrack. As the film is so new there’s very little online and I’m stuck for ideas, plus any merch takes weeks to get here. I was thinking of doing a demon hunter quest, quiz and games of some kind but don’t know where to start. Anyone have any ideas!

I know I shouldn’t have promised this without planning it first :-/

Any ideas what I can do?

My two 7yr olds haven’t. Niether have most in their class. Don’t think it’s 7-8yr olds appropriate.

My 4 year old loves it

😂it’s a kids film and any boring romance parts or demon parts are filled with music kids of all ages love. I have three kids and work in an infant school, the playground is filled with the sound of ‘my little soda pop’
yes I was exposed in the summer holidays, the songs are pretty good.
Anyway party games using the songs like pass the parcel or mini disco lights or something
make pretty drinks (soda pop)

I’ve just googled KPop Demon Hunters party ideas and there’s loads of balloons, cake toppers, decorations, stickers, party bags etc?

It’s all tat from Temu, but I think that’s a given for any themed birthday paraphernalia.

This is what I’ve seen too but none of it will arrive on time!

8 is pretty young to have watched this film. Have her friends seen it?

DD is 5 and it became very popular over the summer holidays.. all the girls in her class absolutely love it. There’s nothing wrong with it? It’s pop stars that are also demon slayers 🤣

Get ChatGPT to make up a quiz and give you ideas for a scavenger hunt. Maybe there’s a wee craft activity it could suggest as well (I’m thinking something along the lines of those beaded friendship bracelets - low cost and low mess).

Thank you! I don’t know why I hadn’t thought of that. Yes will do this.

Do invite the boys...my 8yo boy LOVES this movie.

Dare I suggest Karaoke?

Jimmyneutronsforehead · 07/09/2025 09:47

Go on etsy and buy a pop demon hunter cake topper and some bunting, and buy some purple green pink and gold balloons.

Yeah Netflix have just released the singalong version.

Jollyjoy · 07/09/2025 09:50

Yes! The tunes are great! You’ll be joining in… My almost 7yr old loves it and most of her pals.

No way. You have zero idea what their class is watching.

Unless you’re going to tell me it’s a small village school with 8 kids in the class, all girls and all parents hang out all the time.

Wtf? I don’t know a child who hasn’t watched it.

It’s a great film and the music is fantastic.

Get yourself on Temu, there’s loads of stuff on there. My 10 year old DS is obsessed with the film.

Bernadinetta · 07/09/2025 09:54

Do you have access to a printer? Print off pictures of the characters, logo etc and sellotape them to fruit shoot bottles, crisp packets, mini cookie packets etc

Have you even watched it?

I work with kids and they’ve all seen it.

MizzeryGuts · 07/09/2025 09:58

Many 5 yo’s that my dd babysits have seen it so the age range is perfect!

Have you seen it? What is it you are concerned about? I'm very strict with tv, but dd loves this and I can't find anything inappropriate in it.

Yes I have seen it. Really enjoyed it. I don’t think it was appropriate for my two 7yr olds though.

Why? Have you watched it?

It's a PG and I can't see that there's anything inappropriate about it. It's been lauded for its strong female characters and themes around self-acceptance.

My 9 year old DD and 7 year old DS have both watched it though they're actually more obsessed with the songs (which critically are very good), than the actual film.

Yes, I’ve watched it. It’s ok, we can disagree on what’s age appropriate or not.

@Makemakee Your party sounds amazing, I second the idea of karaoke using the sing a long version, and learning the dance routines.

25 in class and we have a class WhatsApp group where it was talked about. It’s OK, we can have different experiences and opinions regarding a film.

I think some of the demon aesthetics were a bit scary, not all of them, but some of them.

The violence I wasn’t a fan of for 7yr old age group. When it’s comic, it can go either way of course, but even comic violence I’m not a huge fan of for my two.

Anyway, my opinion on it and what I do with my kids isn’t the point of the thread. It’s for party planning. I was just checking if the OP knew if the party guests had seen it.

Answered above. I’m not clogging up the OP’s party planning thread by making long posts. It’s not the point of the thread or my first post.

What sort of things are your 7 year olds watching? I understand your hesitation regarding the violence, but if you think demon hunters is too much, I guess that rules out most of the Disney / pixar films as well?

No I think Disney/Pixar is different. PGs will largely be subjective. Anyway – what my 7yrs olds are watching isn’t point of the thread, so OP should get on with the party planning advice without the derailment.
