If one was to ‘find’ some spray paint how might one amusingly deface a St George’s Cross (hypothetically ofc)

Just as the title says really. We’ve thought of a game of noughts and crosses but figured you Vipers might have a good idea of some other visual effects that could be added. TIA

You are being unreasonable = stop

So sad you seem to hate the St George's flag enough to want to deface it. I get sick of seeing Gaza flags but I'd never dream of decacing them.

It just comes down to immaturity and a lack of brain cells. All the snowflake, virtue signalling morons desperately want to accuse anyone that disagrees with them of being racist. It is just an easy, brainless retort.

Proud to be a snowflake moron. Can I have a badge?

And maybe a flag?

Crispyturtle · 01/09/2025 21:23

I’d turn it into an RNLI flag, great publicity for all their great work saving peoples lives irrespective of their nationality

NoThanksNeeded · 01/09/2025 21:23

Whilst there is a very racist element using the flags to "intimidate" there is an element of normal folks who do feel they aren't "allowed" to be patriotic and are being brought into a rhetoric they don't feel comfortable with either

Trying to "erase" these flags or push the "these are all racists" message will only push people towards Reform UK because they are very clever at using only part of what they mean to ensnare people

Absolutely. I'm in the "normal folk" camp. You are 💯.

Oh, come on. You've read the entire thread and think the OP just "hates the St George's flag"? It's quite clear OP dislikes the message behind the current campaign of hanging them up everywhere.

What I don’t understand, and I genuinely say this, is how you cannot see what the flag you love is being used to do.

And if you can see it - why you would want any part of it?

I am genuinely interested to know.

My area of Wales was the first place the Welsh flags started popping up as part of this "operation raise the colours" (something like that), and the general reaction from normal people was "oh no, they're trying to make it like the English flag" How would you tell? You can’t go two streets without seeing the Welsh flag normally.

I don't buy this.
You only have to look at any sporting or royal event to know that anyone is 'allowed' to be patriotic. The Mall is often literally wall to wall red white and blue.

Mr Brown who flies the St George Cross on his allotment isn't being intimidated.
The church opposite my house flies the damned thing.
If you want to fly it, fly it, but painting it on crossings as part of a massive event?
Is that patriotic, or are you saying something specific?

People have to take responsibility for their actions and how those may be perceived, and be responsible for their own critical thinking.

If someone will be "pushed" towards Reform because someone took down a flag or criticised the notices behind the current wave of them popping up everywhere, they were already on the path.

I fly Palestine and pride flags alongside my Welsh flag. I take responsibility and accountability for that; if people want to call me a moron / snowflake / lefty / handmaiden then that's their prerogative to do so. They aren't "pushing me further left" or turning me Communist or anything - I'm responsible for forming my own political views; if I suddenly join a far left militant group, that's my choice and not to be blamed on the people on the right who criticised me.

There's so much talk of "stand up", "rise up", "take our country back", coming from the same people who can't even take responsibility and accountability for their own beliefs and blame them on others "pushing them".

The truth is that since lockdown I've worked from home and been in my own boring bubble, I've legitimately only seen one painted roundabout and on the news. I abhor what it is being used for but I am also proud to be English and perhaps would have appreciated your post to be retitled to explain you mean the wanker stuff and not my birth countries flag in general. I'd like you to at least acknowledge that and how I perceived it.

Small brain, loud mouth

Flag shagger, knuckle dragger wins for me 😂.

For everyone saying would the saltire or Welsh flags be treated the same, I can assure you they're also being raised as part of this nonsense, and the people raising them are also being mocked and their flags are being defaced. Funnily enough I'm seeing more in areas with high levels of deprivation. It would suit people better to get out and litter pick in their communities, cut the grass, clear the fly tipping if they've got the time and money to be buying and hanging shitty polyester flags mass produced in China.

A far-right group announced it, took the credit for it and said "it's a protest against other countries' flags and pride flags, we need to take them down and put the Welsh flag up instead".

I grew up in a different part of Wales where flags were totally normal and we all got them out for sports events etc, but not so much here. Suddenly they were on every lamppost, Street sign etc - people going out at night with faces covered to put them up.

The classic ad hominem attack 🙄

if we’re going down that route, I’d question how full the life is of the chap who spent hours spray painting shitty off cuts and cable tying them to any metal pole within a 5 mile radius of his house, rather than my own. But TBH, it doesn’t really have any bearing on what I’ve asked.

@Namechangechangeobv would you get your paint out and deface these in Spain, or would you be gushing about 'how ammaaaazing it was, such culture'?

Depends, were they put up as part of an online campaign organised by a far right group (Britain First, not Reform) to show immigrants they aren’t welcome here?

If not, they are fine.
