Yep that’s a good one too. But a little tongue in cheek humour as well feels like a good option. Love the Googly eyes idea. But like others have said, it’s not difficult to fan the fires that seem to be burning. Hard to know whether to actually do something about it or just let it die out.

Someone has painted lots of red hearts in the road near me, which looks lovely.

These spray paint red crosses look so tatty and presumably councils are going to have to invest money in cleaning them off the roundabouts and exchange boxes and road signs these eejits have defaced. So many things you can do to show pride in your environment and they do this.

Assuming all flag flyers are racist and insulting them isn’t going to win them back from the clutches of Nige. I’m seeing this more and more even on local FB pages. Some see Farage as the answer to a problem that the left will not accept, others storm on to declare that they’d rather have a village full of immigrants than a gammon, it’s a stalemate, there are no winners here.

If you want to counteract the flags, start using them like normal everywhere so it's just norm, not a weapon.
Defacing flags would just add oil to the fire and I am starting to think that's what lots of the "nice" side wants.

I get the flag out regularly for sports. I don't spray paint it on roundabouts in areas because they have lots of immigrants. Do you see how there's a difference?

I’m not interested in those who are going down the wide-eyed ‘it’s not racist, it’s just a flag’ route here but it’s interesting though how many people feel lighthearted mockery in the guise of some funny spraying over the (plastic spray painted hoarding ‘flag) could fuel support for Farage. It’s hard to know in these times what you can do which means taking a stand without fuelling this movement. Do we just sit back and say nothing? Is that better, or worse?

I agree . Sadly this is not all about racists - it's also alot of scared people struggling to afford the basics in life whilst feeling that a government who promised change couldn't care less about them or their families. Migrant hotels are an easy target and until something occurs that gives people hope again I think it going to be very difficult to sort out
