To ask if you'll be attending the anti fascism protest on 13 September

Whatafustercluck · 26/08/2025 18:44

I'd like to go in solidarity with like minded people, but worry about it turning violent. I won't be taking my children and will likely be going alone. Lots of people I know detest Tommy Robinson but will stay away due to the likelihood of trouble, but I really want to help send a message that racism and hatred won't win. Is anyone here considering going, or decided to stay away?

You'd be better off going to a Let Women Speak meeting - you get real fascists protesting at those, the misogynistic ones who think women should not exist as a sex class.
Robinson is nasty and not worth the effort (I don't know if he is a misogynist). However, the tensions that he feeds on are raised by people who do not understand how uncomfortable a large demographic of people are becoming with hotels in residential/holiday areas being used as asylum hostels for illegal immigrants, most of whom are young men from cultures that see women as non-people who are there to serve men's needs. (Really surprised the young, male asylum seekers are not backing up the TRAs at LWS meetings, when I come to think of it - probably a transport issue.)
This is a bit tongue in cheek, obviously!😃

No. By fascists I assume you mean people who oppose mass immigration. That doesn’t make you a fascist. It’s a perfectly rational position to hold. Multiculturalism and mass immigration have been IMPOSED on this country, and have destroyed people’s sense of identity. No one asked for it and no one voted for it. Now that’s fascism.

I don’t know how the left have got the nerve to call people like Tommy Robinson a fascist. No one on earth is more dictatorial, intolerant or hate-filled than those on the left. I have never met such horrible, spiteful people. If you do attend, be careful. The levels of smugness could become suffocating.

I don’t think mass migration has been voted on anywhere that allows it. If anything, a political party that is building up a new client group at the expense of local people is quite fascist.

What a waste of time. Get a job. Do something useful.

I have one. This is on a Saturday, which I don't work. And it's therefore my time to 'waste'. 🙂

CoffeeCantata · 27/08/2025 12:42

Well no, because it’s not fascism.

Isn’t it against illegal immigration? What’s wrong with opposing illegal immigration? Please explain.

Not saying some of the marchers are my kind of people, but if that’s what they’re protesting about you can’t really claim it’s unreasonable.

MissFancyDay · 27/08/2025 12:57

It's all just so pointless, marches banners shouting never does anything it just exacerbates the problem.

Anyone going on the anti fascist, against racism March KNOWS it isn't going to do anything to help the problem of growing racism in this country, in fact it will just do the opposite. It will probably encourage more racists to come out and behave badly. You all know you are just going for a chance to shout at people, and to feel righteous.

Everyone should just grow up.

It gives the people something to do though... gives them a purpose in life, a bit of drama.

cramptramp · 27/08/2025 13:07

No. I haven’t been told there is one or where it is. Plus it’s a waste of time.

If only you had been around to tell the Suffragettes that their banners and protests were 'pointless' eh?

They weren't a counter protest though were they. They were protesting for something. Not just going to shout at people having a rally.

Find a cause and set up your own march. Actually do something for the people you are defending instead of exacerbating a fraught situation. But it's just easier this way isn't it.

5MinuteArgument · 27/08/2025 14:00

By all means go on the march if you want to support open borders. Let's have hundreds of thousands more people entering the country every year, all of whom will need to be housed. What could possibly go wrong?

Its ok, we're going to close all of hotels by the end of this parliament. No more asylum hotels!

We're going to get Serco to outbid private tenants on the country's rental stock instead. So where you were once worried that your kids wouldn't be able to buy a house, they now won't be able to rent one either. If you aren't marching in favour of this you're a disgusting racist.

I don’t think mass migration has been voted on anywhere that allows it. If anything, a political party that is building up a new client group at the expense of local people is quite fascist.

It is outrageous that no one got to vote on mass immigration and multiculturalism. Consider the island of Okinawa, off the coast of Japan. It has its own sense of history and identity stretching back centuries. Now imagine ten million Swedes migrate there. Obviously that is going to profoundly impact the inhabitants. It is going to transform their identity. Would you say they deserve the chance to vote on that? Would you say their government had the right to impose that on them? There is a sort of unspoken agreement that because we had an empire we have no right to object. In fact, I would say the left consider mass immigration a just punishment. We keep being told how lucky we are, and how we're being enriched, but that's just a smoke screen. It's like Big Brother in 1984 telling the citizens that 'war is peace'.

I have no problem with small scale immigration btw. The British are not a race, and I do not believe in or want 'racial purity'. That's all nonsense. Until very recently we were a Germanic and Celtic mix, but even then we were a mix of Germans, Dutch, Scandinavians, French and Irish. There has never been a pure British 'race'. Also, I have known British people of African and Asian heritage who really have enriched this country, but they usually came here because they wanted to be British. I had a British Indian friend at university, for example, who wrote her dissertation on Jane Austen and then did a PhD in Victorian literature. She spoke with a beautiful RP accent and had all the traits I like in the British (humour, manners, self-effacing charm, etc) and none of the traits I loathe (oafishness, insularity, philistinism). She still had her Indian identity, of course, but she was British.

When immigration happens on a massive scale, and the people who come either have no interest in, or literally hate, the culture they're moving to, that culture cannot survive. The left know this. But they don't mind. On the contrary, they celebrate that destruction, because though they like to pose as morally superior, they're often the nastiest, most hate-filled and destructive people on the planet. They want Britain's identity to be radically changed. If ten million Russians move to Chile, they'll change its culture and identity. If ten million Chileans move to Greece, they'll change Greek culture and identity. It's as obvious as 2 + 2 = 4.

It is unclear who is behind Stand Up To Racism. There is some funding from Unison and Unite. Quite a few anti Reform Party organisations are linked too.

I don’t think this one’s for me.

Edited

It's Socialist Workers Party. Stand Up to Racism is a message we could all get behind, but it is actually a branded front for SWP.

Your final paragraph sounds like the Great Replacement Theory to me. The left, the nastiest people on the planet, are purposefully trying to change the demographic of the UK and are celebrating its destruction.

Does that sound right Herr Dappy?

In my experience, it's those on the left who have no contact with reality. The reason I abandoned the left and now identify as a conservative is that left-wing people are guided by vague, dreamy idealism. When those ideals are then imposed on society, they cause nothing but chaos. That's why I'm a conservative but not a Thatcherite. Thatcher was no better than Corbyn. They are two sides of the same coin. Like Corbyn she had fixed and fanatical ideas and utter contempt for anyone who disagreed.

It is because I have met 'real people' that I am a moderate conservative. Humans are basically bad. We're not naturally civilized. On the contrary, we find it very hard to behave in a compassionate and civilized way. That is why I wish to conserve things that have taken centuries to to build – refined manners, civilized conversation, the literary canon, the nation state, etc. I am deeply suspicious of left-wing people. I suspect their motives. So many of them are motivated not by sympathy or compassion but by hatred and destruction. They are destructive by nature. Many of them never grow out of the adolescent stage. So many of the traits we associate with adolescence are found in left-wing people – the arrogance, the contempt for tradition and hierarchy, the urge to smash and provoke, etc.

Mass immigration is a way to provoke people. It's a way of destroying and smashing things up. It has pretty much destroyed my national identity. I emphasize the word mass. When people move to a country in small numbers, and move because they love its history and culture, they can be quickly assimilated. But when people move to a country in huge numbers, and either have no interest in its culture or frankly hate it, that country is finished. A speech writer for New Labour said their plan was to use immigration to "rub the right's nose in diversity and render their arguments out of date." Note the spite and nastiness of that language – rub your nose in it. The left have used immigration as a tool or weapon to destroy our national identity. And they have done it not because they love multiculturalism or care about the immigrants but because it hurts and provokes and upsets 'little Englanders'.

I'm also astonished by their hypocrisy. They constantly attack others for being 'intolerant' when they are the most intolerant people you will ever meet. I am patriotic and wish to preserve a sense of national identity. But no, I'm wrong. Shut your mouth. You are going to be multicultural, whether you like it or not. Oh, and we're in favour of tolerance! They attack others for being inhumane, yet no one on earth is more vicious than they are. I know the left thoroughly enjoy covering this island in disgusting new build homes. Anyone who objects to having giant new estates in their village is a 'nimby'. I mean wtf?! Of course people don't want endless house building. It would odd if they did. But the left enjoy seeing those horrible little Daily Mail-reading nimbys have their lives ruined. You see, hatred and spite towards them is OK. That doesn't count.

Destructive by nature? What kind of generalisation and mass labelling is that?!

Let’s agree to disagree. I totally disagree with everything you’ve written so I think we’re just two different people with very different experiences and perceptions of the world.

People are scared of the unknown, it’s natural yet unhelpful. Anything that’s less familiar is viewed as scary, unwanted, detrimental, risky. When actually whilst it can be, it can also provide benefits, opportunities, harmony and enhancements. Unfortunately so many people reject change and for this reason, minority groups suffer.

Immigration is a problem, but it’s not the biggest problem, nor is it simple.

The fact that most reformists voted for Brexit yet have not acknowledged the harm it’s done to us, says it all. You can’t reason with the unreasonable.

Mr Farage is treating the common people like idiots and the idiots are lapping it up. If it wasn’t so dangerous, it would be comical. Just getting used again I’m afraid. And conservatives aren’t any better. Decades in power and what a shitshow that was. Labour have had months and are already getting the blame for conservative failures. Massively hypocritical.
