I'd like to go in solidarity with like minded people, but worry about it turning violent. I won't be taking my children and will likely be going alone. Lots of people I know detest Tommy Robinson but will stay away due to the likelihood of trouble, but I really want to help send a message that racism and hatred won't win. Is anyone here considering going, or decided to stay away?

And your thoughts on us handing over money to the Taliban to help rebuild Afghanistan after the recent earthquake? Equally crazy?

Did you see the news today? The men say they don't have enough people to look after the injured and they are overwhelmed. They sacked all the working women for being ''unclean'' at certain times and stopped their education, and education for girls once they start their periods.

Then there was a report that the rescuers are only saving men. Why on earth is anyone in the world sending them money? If governments send money even though they know how women are treated, they will continue as they are.

Let the islamic world with the same ideals send money. They won't of course because life is cheap, and if their wives die there are plenty of virgins to take their place, especially if there is no minimum marrying age for girls in Islam.

The Taliban have even banned windows. Women are not allowed to enjoy the sun. How can women give birth when they have only gloom, no sunshine, no warmth on their skin, no joy, no entertainment? Only depression until they die. They cannot even eat the food they cook for the men unless the men leave some for them. That is why they are malnourished. Eventually disease will spread through birth deficiencies and diseases. That will probably mean the end of them, because you cannot fight jihads with rickets and other diseases.

Really awful. Barbaric stuff for women and girls.

No, just untrue. It has been given to aid agencies.

The aid agencies should not hand it over, or go into Afghanistan with their attitude to women.

When I saw the news that they were not even rescuing women, and the hospitals couldn't treat the men because they were overwhelmed, the aid agencies should NOT give them any money. Let Islam pay for help. They are the ones who inflict such dire punishment and refuse to acknowledge women.

Women are NOT unclean during their periods. It is an excuse for Muslim men to use them, to marry more than one wife, to pretend that they need more women for sex. That is what they like people to think. They are probably as impotent as men anywhere. They just don't want anyone to know that.

I will NOT GIVE MONEY to any charity which might send it to those countries like Afghanistan. Let them education women, train them for doctors and nurses. There are no gynecologists in Afghanistan now because they used to be women.

I will never cease to be amazed at the comments on this and other threads which seem to be agreeing with the way women are regarded in other countries whose laws - not talking about culture - allow FGM, think all women and 13 year old girls - or younger - are unclean during their periods and are apart until their 'uncleanness' is finished, women whose only crime was to be born a woman.

In countries where law, religion and culture are all one, where morality police regularly stop and publicly whip women they think had acted 'unlawfully', or are not accompanied by a male - even a male child - the suffering of women - ordinary women, not the wives and concubines of leaders, is so much so that they see death as a blessing.

Either half the posters on mumsnet are men, or the women have a funny sense of what is the right way to treat a woman. I don't think the treatment of women, especially the coverings like tomb mummies or shades of the underworld, has been going on for long. I suppose if we could think back, or have news items from the 1980s we might find that there were very few restrictions on women in the MIddle East. Long clothes covered up legs so insects didn't bite and headscarves helped in sandstorms, but there is no reason why western women should be treated the same.

Ask yourselves, posters, just what you are considering, what you are marching for, what you are campaigning for. It seems there are so many posters who welcome young men from the middle east and Africa whose way of life agrees with the treatment of women which this country deplores.

Why do you demonstrate in favour of men of marriageable age who have left their country, impoverished and coming across the channel, leaving muslim women and girls behind? Hasn't it occurred to you that they may be looking for wives? There is very often no minimum age for marriage where they come from.. When they see teenage girls 'parading' when school ends, their lack of education and the way of culture they have grown up with - and is in their DNA - they think they can take the pick of any girl or woman who is not wearing the coverup.

Instead of applying your efforts to free the oppressed women, you are there welcoming young penniless men into the country saying they have a right. They only have a right when they have been processed and found genuine.

Until then, the thought of them marrying British girls and converting them to their 'religion' if we can call it that, when it is also the law and culture, and cannot be a faith because it is forced, and leaving that 'religion' carries a death sentence.

Are you so taken up with bitterness against people you hate, and have politics you don't agree with, that you will even side with those young men and hope it isn't your daughter they have their eyes on, to marry, have children, and get British citizenship because they have a family? Then, having established that, the s law courts in UK will divorce them and they can try again.

You have to make up your minds what you believe in. If you are men, then the prospect of men subjugating their wives might appeal, especially if they eat only what you leave. If you are a woman, why on earth are you encouraging others to welcome men who you should by now know are already changing British culture for the worse.

This one .

I have to say as well I just can't imagine sharing or having to share details as a young girl with my DD or dB about having a period.

They don’t get benefits. If there are no women and children coming why is Farage promising to deport women to Afghanistan and prevaricating about children?

hotelinfo · 06/09/2025 20:32

@llizzie - You are aware that Farage today has confirmed he would deport female asylum seekers back to Afghanistan? On Afghan children here, he'd 'have to think about it..,"

Is this the Britain you want to see? A supposedly 'great' nation that sends women and children back to the Taliban?

MixedBananas · 06/09/2025 20:37

We have a multicultural party on the 13th and the EDF have arranged a protest in the same spot. Red and white flags have popped up all over town and I am very scared for myself and my children. I don't think I will be going out this week. I was born in the UK to immigrant parents and deapite them working hard all their life and raising 3 well adjusted citizens we experince racisim weekly. It has gotten worse recently. I am fed up. This isn't an anti immigration protest this is racisim and an excuse to harm anyone who doesn't look "English".
This is my home I don't know any other home. I was born and educated her and worked in the NHS for 15years.
No matter what we do we will never be accepted here. Speak the lanaguage. Integrated. Pay our taxes. Don't commit crimes. Doesn't matter if we look "foreign" then we are all the same.

I accept you. You are welcome here. So do my friends. I was born here too but am not "Ethnically English" whatever that means.

My friends and family accept you. My colleagues accept you. I know that doesnt mean much in the face of all the hatred but just wanted you to know.

I so accept those who risk drowning to come here in the hopes of some kind of future.

Then you are a British citizen. The worry about immigration does not apply to British citizens.

I have to say as well I just can't imagine sharing or having to share details as a young girl with my DD or dB about having a period.

In many of the countries under sharia law, and thereby strict moral standards, I think there might be some difference in the garments, but not sure.

It would save face, but if I remember a year or so back, there was a film on TV about the Taliban education for girls, and they went to great pains to point out that there is a shop at the school where the girls can buy things, and the cameral picked up sanitary protection, so I suppose if a girl buys that they know. In fact the teacher married one of the pupils as his fourth wife.

awkwardasfuck · 07/09/2025 07:54

llizzie · 07/09/2025 03:28

Then you are a British citizen. The worry about immigration does not apply to British citizens.

I wasn’t talking to you. I was offering comfort to someone who’s a victim of the rancid racist tropes people like you trot out, the lazy narrative that brown-skinned people are a “threat” just by existing.

And spare me the patronising lesson on my own passport. Yes, genius, I know I’m a British citizen. I also happen to be an EU citizen.

Do you honestly think I need you, of all people, to point that out? What do you expect me to say —
“oh thank you, I’d forgotten”?

It’s embarrassing how hard you’re reaching for something to say.

Being British doesn’t magically protect anyone from the bile you and others pump out. It doesn’t stop racist graffiti, it doesn’t stop chants of “send them home,” it doesn’t stop hate crimes, and it doesn’t stop mobs screaming abuse at children outside grim asylum hotels.

Your smug little reminder about citizenship is worthless against that reality and it only shows how shallow your understanding is.

And since you love to lecture, have you managed to do any actual reading yet?

Or are you still wrongly insisting about Hitler “inventing fascism,” 1937 being “over 100 years ago,” and it all being “irrelevant” whilst simultaneously falling for the exact same playbook he used to turn ordinary German people into hate-soaked Nazis?

Serpentstooth · 07/09/2025 10:06

@MixedBananas I'm so sorry you have been made to feel like this by your neighbours, I'm increasingly ashamed of this country and what rubbish people are happily swallowing about other people who don't look just like them. The money and effort put into promoting dissent and division through right wing disinformation worldwide is terrifying. These promoters are billionaires. Most of us are not. Why are they doing this? It's to benefit them. Not to benefit us regardless of politics.

Ah yes, the terrifying horde of “criminal men paying more than a visa just to steal our daughters.”
