To ask if you'll be attending the anti fascism protest on 13 September

I'd like to go in solidarity with like minded people, but worry about it turning violent. I won't be taking my children and will likely be going alone. Lots of people I know detest Tommy Robinson but will stay away due to the likelihood of trouble, but I really want to help send a message that racism and hatred won't win. Is anyone here considering going, or decided to stay away?

They are trying to escape it. Some have worked with Western governments to help dismantle it. In fact the only person in the UK we know for sure who is currently planning on supporting groups like the Taliban is Farage who, according to News reports, wants to give them £10 million.

And your thoughts on us handing over money to the Taliban to help rebuild Afghanistan after the recent earthquake? Equally crazy?

No, just untrue. It has been given to aid agencies.

No, just untrue. It has been given to aid agencies.

And if you believe the aid actually reaches the people, you'd be very much mistaken.

The leader was on TV telling us how difficult it was because the services were overwhelmed and the hospitals cannot cope.

I felt like screaming at him saying if they educated the women and allowed them to work, the services would not be overwhelmed.

And Lammy sending the a million and trying to convince us that it will be given to the UN and will not find it's way to the Taliban to buy guns and ammo. How did he get people to vote for him?

GingerPower · 04/09/2025 00:44

hotelinfo · 03/09/2025 12:10

Of course. Why would I feel any more threat from an Afghan man than anyone else?

Our analysis, informed by advice given to us by the Office for National Statistics (ONS), the Home Office, and Oxford University's Migration Observatory, shows there is likely a significant difference in offending rates among Afghans compared with Britons - but most likely not to the extent described by Mr Farage.

Our estimates conclude that Afghans are closer to three times more likely to be convicted of a sexual offence than someone born in the UK, rather than 22 times.

Fact-checking Farage: Are foreigners more likely than Britons to commit sexual offences?

Nigel Farage says "an Afghan male has a 22 times more likely chance of being convicted of rape than somebody born in this country". Sky News's data and forensics unit has looked at the data.

You can't confuse 'culture' or place of birth with the propensity for a rapist mindset.

Not even rape culture?

So you think people won't vote for Reform because of their plans to give £2million to the the Taliban out of a projected £10bn ringfenced in part for deals with "rogue states"?

It was in the news yesterday that women in the UK are more likely to be killed by their owns son than any other man.

Lol what news was this? Ive never heard of any woman being killed by their son in the UK?? More frequently than any other man?? Yeah right!

MushMonster · 04/09/2025 07:43

It is neither they are all horrible monsters, neither they are all innocent lambs, obviously. I think the issue with immigration, like in almost any other aspect of life, is to be able to assess each case. Some would be bad matches to UK, so we need to have a working and efficient way to send them back. Others are needed and contribute to the system, so let them stay. It cannot be that difficult to sort who is in which basket, it just isn't.
Why not moving away from the extremes, which are plain bonkers, and focus on the way to stop smugglers and put them in jail, arrange deportation systems and taylor the home office visas to what the country needs? And getting the services we all pay for? That is the government's responsibility.
UK cannot be asked to stretch further than what it can take without neglecting its own population. Ignoring the concerns of the citizens will not get us anywhere. Calling them names will not get us anywhere. Let them express what they think. Let them have their say and demonstration in peace. If they are going to embarrass themselves, they will.
But why organising a counter protest on the same day? In what looks like two opposed groups about to fight, that the police has to control? Why not letting the police focus on what they have to deal with already? And please, stop calling people names.....

It was this yesterday. I only heard the headline. Make of it what you will.

To be honest, I don't think any of these stats on this thread are necessarily that meaningful as you can manipulate stats to back up most things.

Femicide Census says more mums killed by sons than by strangers - BBC News

The Femicide Census says 12 women were killed by their sons in 2022 and 11 by a stranger.

As for Reform, they may well get in at the next election. But all that will happen is the poor will get poorer; rich will get richer; illegal in migrants will still keep coming. When people realise they have become poorer while the "Look over here... immigrants" diversion tactic had a hold on them, they will be even more angry and dissatisfied with their lot in life, so they'll vote some version of Labour back in. Labour will be ineffective, so in the next election, people will swing to an even more Far Right iteration of Reform. And so on so on.

Agree with this.

Anyone see Nige creeping and crawling at USA Congress yesterday? Trashing the UK like the true patriot he is. He'll sell you all out without blinking. Patriot in his fans eyes, he's a traitor. To his weird fans and to his country. A traitor and a hypocrite. Enjoy your Fun Day Out with Farage for Freedom. I'm sorry you can't see what he is but you'll surely find out.

I'm in a woman's group and for the last 4 years we've done an event in November on The International Day for the Elimination of Violence against Women where we remember all the women in the UK who have been killed by men and its honestly shocking just how many women have been killed by their own sons. It's really not a LOL matter at all...

I was LOL ing about the other poster that said more women get murdered by their sons than other men. This is a silly statement and incorrect. I'm allowed to LOL at that!

Yes, that's what that article said.

Piggywaspushed · 04/09/2025 21:56

I realise this is not what the PP first said but then she provided the link so you could have read it. She was inaccurate but so were you - you said it had never happened and that made you, apparently, laugh.

Really, can't you see that a LOL is utterly crass when talking of femicide?

I said I never heard of it in the UK. Not that it doesn't happen! Stop trying to start petty arguments. Like you said, this thread is about some pointless protests on 13th September.

Piggywaspushed · 05/09/2025 07:39

Not sure when I said that but OK.

A couple of us at least have taken issue over you LOLing when femicide cam e up and you don't have the good grace to reflect on that.

Farage is making a mockery of his supporters. His sickening sycophancy for all things Trump will be his downfall because even his supporters are mainly appalled by Trump.

This latest bizarre trip to the US, during which Farage claimed that free speech is in peril and the U.K. is in danger of resembling North Korea - so sanctions against the U.K. could be in order ... WTAF!

This trip happened to coincide with the launch of GB News in the US - in which Farage holds shares of course. What a surprise.

What kind of wannabe PM goes to another country and suggests sanctions against the British people?

The man is a grifter. All he's interested in is stirring up division and hatred. He's got his minions waving their little flags while he's overseas running the nation down and looking after his own business interests.
