Sailing club in mui ne Vietnam. The service was second to none, the room gorgeous, and the food amazing.

Grantley Hall near Ripon. Sheer luxury, even the car park has lighting at each space and calming music.

Food, Michelin starred at Shaun Rankin, sublime.
Beautiful grounds.

Chosen by quite a few sportsmen and actors.

Agree with Casa de la Jumeria in Seville. Went in June and it was amazing. Also Gleneagles and Akumal Bay in Mexico

I’d also add Rendezvous in St Lucia (although that was many years ago) and Limewood in the New Forest

Grand Hotel Amrath, Amsterdam. Stunning art deco ex shipping offices.
Titanic Hotel, Belfast
Lindeth Howe, Bowness on Windermere
Hotel des Alpes, Luzern. Not that fancy but stunning location.

Omg someone else has stayed in the Amrath in Amsterdam! So beautiful! So confusing! I went with my sister. We are both Diana Wynne Jones fans and we agreed that it's just like the Hotel Babylon in Deep Secret, with 8 right angles per floor. We ended up on the roof via the staff rest room once. Great views.

@Catinabeanbag ah I’m staying at the grand amrath next month- the one in Haarlem? Haven’t stayed there before - looks lovely and I love Haarlem - I pick it over staying in Amsterdam -

Following on from my previous post about the Rival in Stockholm , another one I really liked was the kempinski in Gozo - it’s a bit in the middle of nowhere and 4 minutes walk to nearby village but had truly lovely gardens, multiple pools , lovely bar terrace and an extremely good restaurant and top notch wine at 8 euros a glass . Kind of ‘moorish’ in style - and rooms very comfortable and well kept , but slightly dated in a brown kind of way - but again wasn’t stupid money , so felt like an old fashioned treat . We combined with Valletta ( it was part of a business trip too ) and was much nicer than I expected .
