Should be held at the council offices, Government departments, rather than the migrant hotels? After all, it's due to the government's lack of processing that the migrants are there?

Ok Poetry and wine. I am going to conceded that my term posh hotels maybe not best in all cases some around my area were very nice 4 stars but maybe posh is a stretch. However please listen to the 2 examples I can give you from people I actually know which worry me. You probably wont care but here me out. Near me there is a hotel used for housing migrants it was previously a nice 4* hotel used by many as a wedding venue. It is now a complete dump with around a hundred migrants hanging around it leering at women shouting things at them and the crime rate in the area has shot up. Another person I know who has a job that involves them has repeatedly heard comments about women should not be allowed jobs or shouldn't even be seen. This is the mentality in the country they come from.

The 2nd example I can give you is the Haven holiday park where on 1 side of the park you have families who have probably worked hard to take the kids on the summer trip and on the other half you have men who have dumped there passports in the chanel so we cant identify them and are shouting sexual comments at the women in the holiday park who have paid to be there. All whilst being accommodated by us the tax payer. The fact you are happy with that and your only issue is which star of hotel your taxes pay to put them in speaks volumes about your morals and hopes for this countries future. Especially for women's safety .

Odd then that Haven has said:

"Over the last few days, some holidaymakers have contacted us about social media posts which make false claims that our parks are going to be used to house asylum seekers"

"We wanted to let you know that there is no truth to these posts. We're on track for our biggest ever year with many holidays close to selling out and we'll continue to be open for business for our holidaymakers and our holiday home owners."

Yes I cant imagine why Haven are denying this. Hmmm could it possibly be that nobody in there right mind would take there family especially females to a place where they are gathered? Just to clarify like most Britain's i feel like we are the most welcoming country in the world to genuine refugees such as the Ukranian crisis and anyone who wants to come here and be involved in our country. What we aren't is stupid. Here we value females being equal, we value work and I think many have understandably had enough. A lady made great point on TV today. If these men are all fleeing because the country was so dangerous why did they leave all the elderly, women and children and travel through multiple safe countries to get to the UK? Why also then do they not keep there passports to work to send money hoke to there families? Hmmm I wonder

Hi, @Myfamilys

Thank you for your post. I respect your sincerity. The first instance you relate - it concerns something someone told you. Can you hold that in one part of your mind while weighing other evidence?

The second incident concerns the Haven chain. As @PandoraSocks says, Haven are spreading the word online now as emphatically as they can that any stories they have accepted or have plans to accept asylum seekers are false.

Melanie Onn MP for Great Grimsby and Cleethorpes has investigated this with respect to the Haven in her constituency, as well as other hotels, and issued a statement.

We must ask ourselves why people are spreading these rumours.

Any proof that Haven is lying? You might want to be careful about making libelous statements about a multi -million pound company.

Everything going on in this country and your only concern is which hotel people are being accommodated in! Fantastic. You are one of the people that are happy until you are told you will have 100 migrant men moving into a road near you and then you aren't quite such a fan

Unfair, and disappointing because some of your posts have been thoughtful regardless of whether I agree with them.

Sticking to facts is the only hope for our country. That is why these rumours are so dangerous

Ah, no proof at all. And so your statement that:

"The 2nd example I can give you is the Haven holiday park where on 1 side of the park you have families who have probably worked hard to take the kids on the summer trip and on the other half you have men who have dumped there passports in the chanel so we cant identify them and are shouting sexual comments at the women in the holiday park who have paid to be there"

is an absolute pack of lies.

I dont mind if you agree or disagree with me. I do however think it would be lovely to live in your world where the only concern you have over the state of this country is which hotels are or aren't being used for this purpose. There are literally millions of posts online discussing this I have no doubt not all are true and some are just rumours however what is a huge concern is women on these threads discussing how unsafe they have felt, discussing the comments made by these men towards them. The fact that these young men do everything to make sure our government cant identify them or there past. And its all very well to just worry about where they stay but would you be happy if a hundred moved into your road on your taxes?

What’s weird about the people going on about ‘cultures who don’t respect women’ is it seems like people are mostly talking about governments? Like, the taliban are a bit fucked up about women but how does that have any more impact on how the average afghani dude is than how Keir starmer affects the average UK person.

Well, there is the latest gov data (reluctantly released following FOI requests) that shows Afghan and Eritrean men being 20x more likely to commit sex crimes in the UK.

EDIT: I did link the above data earlier in the thread.

Edited

Unfortunately I can’t open the link but taking it at face value. I guess where we differ is that I think it’s fair enough to be accommodating people and helping, even if that help is difficult and has a negative impact. Given the relative population size we’d be talking a very small increased real risk of harm to anyone, so I just see a bunch of wailing about a (potentially) very small increased risk from people who have lived through a war that the UK initiated and are likely to have all the post traumatic issues that that inevitably entails… it’s mad to me.

In a fair world, the UK would see a significant drop in living standards in order to raise others elsewhere. Then you would probably see a lot less migration to here. But it just seems people want cake twice - to continue to strip wealth from poorer countries and then go ‘no this is mine’ when people in those poorer countries understandably want that better life.

I’m no stranger to the ‘here we have it this person is disturbed, it’s disgusting’ attempted coup de grace - on this thread and others. If you’re genuinely horrified, I’m sorry - if it makes you feel better, I am as genuinely horrified by a great deal of the posts against immigration, I just don’t tend to use them to generalise about entire groups or hold them up as ‘look! Burn the witch!’ type rallying calls to people who agree with me

The first paragraph of the post that I quoted. In particular, "even if that help is difficult and has a negative impact" in direct response to somebody quoting rape and sexual assault statistics.

I'm not paraphrasing you, you are literally saying that a relative few number of school girls being sexually assisted or raped is acceptable in the grand scheme of things and I find that disgusting. So I called you disgusting for having said it.

One weird trick to massively reduce the rape rate in the UK - put all the men in a very big prison. You up for that? Or do you also accept a number of women being raped?

You think you've done a GOTCHA!!! don't you. I don't accept any women being raped. I support reasonable, practical measures to reduce the risk of it. Including the outright rejection of "even if that help is difficult and has a negative impact" which actually means "yes of course women and girls will be raped by the migrants who I advocate for, but I'm advocating for them anyway"

But you do accept that some women will be raped, because we allow men to wander around. It’s not a gotcha. I’m explaining that your judgement on where that line sits is different to mine.

Well, no. You can't imprison all men. Women physically can't mprison all men. You'd need men to do it for you, and then imprison themselves and lock the door behind them before handing you the keys through the bars of their cells. It isn't possible.

It is possible to not allow foreign rapists into the country however.

hotelinfo · 25/08/2025 02:00

My kids went to a school in Hammersmith, London, where all pupils in Lower 6th go over to Calais to volunteer for a long weekend (or up to a week) with Care For Calais. They distribute clothes, serve food, sit and play cards, talk to people. Yes, the school is co-ed, so girls go as much as boys. Nobody comes back feeling that they were in peril, or leered at, any more than an average day walking through London, or anywhere else.

If you make people scared by 'othering' certain groups, it just fuels hyperbole and paranoia as witnessed in this thread. Rather than listening to GB News, or selecting press articles to whip everyone into a frenzy, why not go and talk to people in these hotels you're so up in arms about. Find out their individual stories?
