AIBU to think chocolate should NOT be kept in the fucking fridge?

DH believes chocolate (including biscuits e.g. digestives) should be kept in the fridge because “it tastes nicer, keeps its shape and lasts longer”.

I believe chocolate should not be kept in the fridge because it’s fucking wrong, basically. Am I being unreasonable?

(There is also another AIBU worthy sub question, which is that if you can say you can fit a chocolate digestive in your mouth, YABU to then break it into pieces with bites as you put it in, so that it fits? This is clearly cheating and DH should be told he is YABU just for this alone? If I lose this fridge thread, I’ll start that one Wink)

I'll up the ante and say Frazzles too. Nasty little dry shards of disappointment

Frazzles? They’re lovely! 😋😋

Vaxtable · 19/08/2025 19:57

There is nothing nicer than a chocolate digestive that’s been in the fridge, nice and crunchy

and yes chocolate should also be kept in the fridge

ChampagneLassie · 19/08/2025 19:58

💁‍♀️I don’t keep my chocolate in fridge, never have, never encountered this. My kitchen is quite cool. And if I had fancy truffles in heat I would. But ordinary chocolate, no

Idontknowhatnametochoose · 19/08/2025 19:58

I hate chocolate from the fridge.

Melted is best.

RealEagle · 19/08/2025 19:59

Husband fridge me no

I live in Spain.
Chocolate has to be kept in a fridge here most of the year.

I also live in Spain, and completely agree. However, I am Scottish and always kept chocolate in the fridge there too. I hate it being gooey!

But chocolate biscuits should not be in the fridge - they’ll go soft (unless the wrapped kind).

yep, makes it impossible to eat until its warmed up, so i leave it in the cupboard.

And the wafer thin chocolate coating would flake off in tiny bits everywhere.

Judellie · 19/08/2025 20:02

Chocolate out of the fridge is revolting. NEVER put it in there, you'll ruin it.

Wrongety wrong. And you username ends in ‘lie’, so clearly you cannot be trusted in terms of chocolate-based determinations…

😉

Chocolate in the fridge,
Biscuits in the cupboard.

floraldebacle · 19/08/2025 20:04

Fridge. Non negotiable. Who wants bendy chocolate???

InOverMyHead84 · 19/08/2025 20:04

Oh, thank god another sensible person. My wife keeps it on the fridge, ruining the joy that you get when you place it in your mouth and it so instantly melts, flooding your mouth with flavour in an almost orga.....

..joyful way.

It should be kept at between 15-20 C. Not refrigerated.

Newusername3kidss · 19/08/2025 20:05

I’m genuinely shocked how many people keep chocolate in the fridge! Unless it was 40 degrees my chocolate is in the cupboard. I bloody hate cold hard chocolate

HolidayInCambodia25 · 19/08/2025 20:05

FGS just take your portion & put outside the fridge

@PotatoBreadForTheWin I love that you have such strong conviction on this matter that you posted four times! More power to you! 😂🤣

😄😄 yes @PotatoBreadForTheWin I feel strongly about chocolate too

O00ps · 19/08/2025 20:12

Supermarkets don't store Chocolate in the fridges because it would damage the quality of the product.
YANBU to keep it out of the fridge.

Cold chocolate is weird to me, but this voting looks like the majority of people like it that way. The majority ABU 😁

Arlanymor · 19/08/2025 20:12

This is a great thread by the way - it’s really made me giggle! @ChocolateShouldNotBeInTheFuckingFridge

In the big Tesco where I live they keep the chocolate for the meal deals in the fridge… just sayin’…

HiThere2024 · 19/08/2025 20:17

Most, but not all chocolate should be kept in the fridge. Mars and Snickers should be sliced and placed in freezer. Delicious. Think I might have to head out and buy some

TheChosenTwo · 19/08/2025 20:18

A Mars bar and maltesers are both definitely best from the fridge.
i don’t eat chocolate now really since being on WLI but if i was going to have something it would probably be cold maltesers. Might get myself some this weekend actually!

Do you live in the Sahara without Aircon?

Sharptonguedwoman · 19/08/2025 19:18

But a cold chocolate digestive, particularly white chocolate, might be a thing of joy?

😄 its a no from me, it'd be too cold to enjoy

XenoBitch · 19/08/2025 20:20

I like my chocolate cold, so it goes in the fridge. My local corner shop has bars in the fridge, which is ace.

Momononoyoooo · 19/08/2025 20:23

Unless it is melting outside then NO it lives outside in an air tight container. Being cold in the fridge changes the taste of chocolate and only real chcolate connoisseurs will understand that. But your average joe can't tell the difference and they like nasty tasting chocolate.

nam3c4ang3 · 19/08/2025 20:23

wtf you don’t keep chocolates in the fridge?! WHAT IS WRONG WITH YOU cancel the cheque .
