AIBU to think chocolate should NOT be kept in the fucking fridge?

ChocolateShouldNotBeInTheFuckingFridge · 19/08/2025 18:54

DH believes chocolate (including biscuits e.g. digestives) should be kept in the fridge because “it tastes nicer, keeps its shape and lasts longer”.

I believe chocolate should not be kept in the fridge because it’s fucking wrong, basically. Am I being unreasonable?

(There is also another AIBU worthy sub question, which is that if you can say you can fit a chocolate digestive in your mouth, YABU to then break it into pieces with bites as you put it in, so that it fits? This is clearly cheating and DH should be told he is YABU just for this alone? If I lose this fridge thread, I’ll start that one Wink)

And don’t even get me started on chocolate Malted Milks- absolute travesty.

Murdoch1949 · 19/08/2025 19:46

Note - white chocolate is barely even chocolate, so keep it where you want.

Honeyandwine · 19/08/2025 19:46

I agree OP! My DH is the same. I hate cold chocolate. 🍫

WhatcakeshalIIbaketoday · 19/08/2025 19:46

TutiFrutti · 19/08/2025 19:37

No! 😱 What is wrong with you people? cold chocolate is an abomination, it tastes best all warm and melty.
Not that my husband would agree but he is not allowed an opinion on important subjects such as this.

Isn’t he? Hee hee ….😂

Katiesaidthat · 19/08/2025 19:49

I keeep mine in the fridge from June to October or I would be scraping them off the cupboard surface or drinking them. So Im with team husband.

Early3Rise · 19/08/2025 19:49

I'm shocked at results here

Fridge chocolate is tasteless

It needs to be room temp so it easily melts on your tongue and releases its flavour

Qualification: > 25 years of eating copious amounts of chocolate every day

Globules · 19/08/2025 19:49

What is wrong with you people?

Chocolate in the fridge? Wrong on so many levels.

Too cold. Too hard. Loses flavour. Takes too long to eat.

And what abomination is this freezer talk?!

I'm not even going to get started on the chocolate biscuits issue.

ColonelRhubarbBikini · 19/08/2025 19:49

People who keep chocolate in the fridge (or freezer 😱) are sociopaths and perverts and this is the hill I will die on.

It goes all waxy and vile. Might as well chew a babybel wrapper.

Sadly I am married to a fridge chocolate pervert. If I’d known early doors I’d have dumped him before it got serious. I’m only half joking.

Tortielady · 19/08/2025 19:50

Lindt dark chocolate, especially orange and mint are lovely straight out of the freezer. Their dark hazelnut is fab too, but it's so more-ish I can't buy it more than once or twice a year.

I wouldn't keep biscuits in the fridge though. In practice, I don't buy them often anyway, as I hear them calling me from the tub. Chocolate hobnobs are particularly bad for that 😋

Arlanymor · 19/08/2025 19:44

Indeed! And now we’re going into bandmate Bill Wyman’s territory - Sticky Fingers! Which I imagine is what non-fridge chocolate eaters must have permanently!

🤣

He's right, you're wrong.

Almost all chocolate now contains so much palm oil that it melts at a much lower temperature than it should and feels icky at room temperature.

His reasons are:

  1. It tastes nicer
  2. It keeps its shape better
  3. It lasts longer.
Your reasons are:
  1. It's fucking wrong.

That alone should tell you who is right.

Warm chocolate should be banned. If it's not hot chocolate, it should be cold chocolate.

100% agree!

Ambient chocolate (especially in the Summer) just turns into mush in my mouth 🤢. In fact today it wasn’t even that warm in the kitchen and I risked a Foxes chocolate cream biscuit bar thing and it was utterly horrid, even the biscuit bit was soft despite being new.

I actually put my opened chocolate biscuits in the freezer and oh my goodness they are so yum with that firm chilled texture! Chocolate Caramel Digestives are the best for this!

A, obviously

Agree. How is this even a question?

Chocolate is fine in the fridge, especially in the summer

But biscuits? In the fridge? Very very unreasonable!

This. I’d prefer it out of the fridge unless it’s really warm. But biscuits in the fridge is absolutely outrageous.

Certain chocolate is much nicer cold - after eights and Easter eggs are lovely out of the fridge!

NaeRolls · 19/08/2025 19:54

My husband has the same ludicrous belief as yours and it drives me mad. Solidarity x

Fair point. But there are some perverts on here who like bendy, warm chocolate, so y’know…

Choc in fridge has no taste. Should melt in your mouth when you eat it so you get all its flavour 😋

Arlanymor · 19/08/2025 19:55

@PotatoBreadForTheWin I love that you have such strong conviction on this matter that you posted four times! More power to you! 😂🤣

Totally utterly unreasonable.

Chocolate outside the fridge is claggy and horrible.

Love a cold bar of chocolate.

Your mouth is warm so it does melt - slowly.

bellabasset · 19/08/2025 19:56

Gosh yes I remember the journalist telling us about it before it was published. Marianne said it had had a long term negative effect on her life and it hadn't stopped her addiction to drug taking. We last saw her in London and she still looked stunning and had her lovely voice. I was still shocked when she died and sad that she'd suffered from the publicity she'd received through her relationship with Mick Jagger.
