AIBU to think chocolate should NOT be kept in the fucking fridge?

ChocolateShouldNotBeInTheFuckingFridge · 19/08/2025 18:54

DH believes chocolate (including biscuits e.g. digestives) should be kept in the fridge because “it tastes nicer, keeps its shape and lasts longer”.

I believe chocolate should not be kept in the fridge because it’s fucking wrong, basically. Am I being unreasonable?

(There is also another AIBU worthy sub question, which is that if you can say you can fit a chocolate digestive in your mouth, YABU to then break it into pieces with bites as you put it in, so that it fits? This is clearly cheating and DH should be told he is YABU just for this alone? If I lose this fridge thread, I’ll start that one Wink)

Definitely in the fridge, in summer. Not in winter.

This 👆 - I eat dark chocolate and love it cold in Summer.

[Milk chocolate that is ‘melty’ - no thanks!
White chocolate - that’s just an abomination and no amount of chilling will improve it!]

Thank you for all replies (even though the majority are wrong Grin)

Chocolate bars in freezer?! This actually is interesting. Could I freeze a Bounty? I’m going out on a limb @ThousandYardStareand think you hate them too as you’ve listed my favourites upthread Grin

Love a cold chocolate biscuit. And the idea of cold chocolate is so you can make it warm and gooey in your gob 😁

Oh is it the palm oil that makes it go all claggy in your mouth if it's eaten at room temperature?

Yeah - I loathe it. I hate it and can't untaste it now. I have to buy very expensive chocolate to enjoy it at all now. It's sad because I used to be a right chocoholic and took great pleasure in a bar of anything.

MrsTigerface · 19/08/2025 19:05

Chocolate; always, always from the fridge. I am currently in an hotel room which is well air conditioned, but I made the error of eating one of the wee choccy treats from the hospitality tray without refrigerating it first. Rookie error. The other one is on ice, to be devoured later.

Please explain the virtues of warm chocolate 😀

Sparklesandspandexgallore · 19/08/2025 19:05

I keep it in the fridge. I like it hard.

Bambiwithlonglegs · 19/08/2025 19:06

I kept all chocolate in fridge when it’s been really hot as I found it was all melting but otherwise in cupboard!

DiscoBob · 19/08/2025 19:06

In summer you have to or it melts?
I hate really cold chocolate though. Like in ice-cream. A lump of frozen chocolate just tastes like plastic!

Everydayimhuffling · 19/08/2025 19:06

Chocolate from the fridge is great! Chocolate (and all other) digestives are terrible, so nothing could change them.

murasaki · 19/08/2025 19:06

Dp did put chocolate biscuits in the fridge last week at work but in his defence it was that or his bag in a hot car. He doesn't do it in our house.

FullOfLemons · 19/08/2025 19:07

You can freeze a Bounty but it will still be shit IME

WRONG!! I fucking LOVE a Bounty! Red one tho, not blue. Although, I am a mahoosive pig, I'll eat a blue one, who am I kidding. But liquorice, sultana scones and bubblegum ice cream banning is a hill I'll die on

ChocolateShouldNotBeInTheFuckingFridge · 19/08/2025 19:08

Okay in a frantic attempt to swing the votes my way, DH thinks white chocolate is rank. Dark chocolate is only acceptable if it’s Fry’s mint or orange. Matchmakers and After Eights are acceptable.

I really should LTB…

The only chocolate i will not keep in the fridge is curlywurlys.

Everything else is fridged.

Warm chocolate is horrible/rank.

Is it that the toffee bit becomes too hard?

PrincessC0nsuelaBananaHammock · 19/08/2025 19:09

The only place chocolate should be kept is in the freezer!

You could drip feed that he's a serial killer and you won't win. Sorry OP, no chance.

yep, makes it impossible to eat until its warmed up, so i leave it in the cupboard.

PleaseBringMeMyWine · 19/08/2025 19:09

Chocolate digestives in the fridge are LOVELY👌🏻 As is all chocolate.

White chocolate is rank, he's right there.
Dark chocolate is great , in small doses.
Milk chocolate sucks apart from in the afore mentioned reeses bars, but I don't like peanut butter. Go figure.

Gettingbysomehow · 19/08/2025 19:10

I keep it in the freezer because when it's cold it's harder to eat the whole bar. I keep Maltesers in the freezer especially. Otherwise I'd pig the lot.

gamerchick · 19/08/2025 19:10

I prefer chocolate out of the fridge. Sorry OP.

Venalopolos · 19/08/2025 19:10

ThousandYardStare · 19/08/2025 19:00

Warm bendy chocolate is absolutely up there with things that should be banned, such as liquorice, sultanas in scones and bubblegum ice cream. YABVVU

Well you’re just unreasonable on every level. I pity your joyless life without those examples.

Arlanymor · 19/08/2025 19:11

Oh now you’ve raised another sub-topic… After Eight mints - do you leave the packets in the box?

A. Of course, because you get that little dopamine hit of achievement when you think they’ve run out and you triumphantly find one lurking in the middle of the empty envelopes… as with most things in life, the harder you work for something the more you appreciate it.

B. No, it throw them away straight away because I am boring and I don’t like fun.

murasaki · 19/08/2025 19:11

After eights from the freezer would be great.

ChocolateShouldNotBeInTheFuckingFridge · 19/08/2025 19:11

@MrsTigerface- room temperature! It tastes better and isn’t too hard to bite.

There are so many replies (and excellent ideas) I can’t keep upSmile
