AIBU to think chocolate should NOT be kept in the fucking fridge?

DH believes chocolate (including biscuits e.g. digestives) should be kept in the fridge because “it tastes nicer, keeps its shape and lasts longer”.

I believe chocolate should not be kept in the fridge because it’s fucking wrong, basically. Am I being unreasonable?

(There is also another AIBU worthy sub question, which is that if you can say you can fit a chocolate digestive in your mouth, YABU to then break it into pieces with bites as you put it in, so that it fits? This is clearly cheating and DH should be told he is YABU just for this alone? If I lose this fridge thread, I’ll start that one Wink)

He’s very very wrong. Warm, slightly bendy, slightly melted chocolate is bloody amazing.

I picture a cold digestive 🤢

But a cold chocolate digestive, particularly white chocolate, might be a thing of joy?

DH and I are united in our A response!

Excellent! Marital harmony restored! ♥️♥️

Unless you are too poor to afford your own bars of chocolate I can't see why this is even an issue.

Why do you both have to think the same about something that is totally personal preference?

Surely you each do the way you prefer Confused

bluestand · 19/08/2025 19:19

I keep mine in the freezer. Love a freezing cold chunk of decent chocolate.

Your DH is definitely wrong about biscuits though.

DinoLil · 19/08/2025 19:21

I always keep chocolate and biscuits in the fridge.

HandMadeInYorkshire · 19/08/2025 19:21

In this weather, definitely in the fridge!
Who want's chocolate all over your fingers before the delicious chokky is in your gob?

Christ! I've heard of separate finances and separate beds but why even stay married if you can't share a Terry's Chocolate Orange?

SliceofTosst · 19/08/2025 19:24

No fridge. Has to be room temperature to taste how it's meant to.

SDTGisAnEvilWolefGenius · 19/08/2025 19:24

Share chocolate? I’m not sure I understand, @ConfusedSloth! 😂

ChessieFL · 19/08/2025 19:24

I’m with you OP, room temperature chocolate all the way. I hate breaking my teeth on cold chocolate.

bingocard · 19/08/2025 19:25

LightCameraBitchSmile · 19/08/2025 18:56

Fridge or freezer. Crème eggs from the freezer are best

Ooooh I'm going to try this

Mumof2amazingasdkiddos · 19/08/2025 19:26

Of course chocolate goes in the fridge, including the chocolate digestives regardless of the time of year! Where else would you store them??

Chocolatefreak · 19/08/2025 19:26

Definitely not necessary in the UK unless there's a heatwave. Or if it has some kind of creamy filling.

BuntyBeaufort · 19/08/2025 19:26

I’m with you op. Chocolate should be at blood temperature when it hits your tongue. In the warm weather DH insists on putting it in the fridge, which I quite understand, but it means I have to think ahead and take it out half an hour before I want to eat it.
i don’t eat chocolate biscuits, except occasionally I nick one at work if I’m really peckish. I’m not that keen on them as it’s not proper chocolate- I like the 72% coco solids stuff not the oily, sugary concoction that passes for it since the Americans took over most of our brands.

DeirdreChambersWhatACoincidence · 19/08/2025 19:27

Fridge. I can't stand warm slippery chocolate.

I like Star Bars, Fry's Turkish Delight and Milky Way kept in the freezer though.

You’re a little ray of chocolatey sunshine, aren’t you?

I have kept chocolate in the fridge during the recent very hot weather. That's the only time it's acceptable. Biscuits definitely not and he's also wrong about fitting a whole biscuit in, it's not whole is it? I can fit a whole jaffa cake in my mouth and if we're bragging i can eat a full packet in one go.

Missey85 · 19/08/2025 19:29

I keep my chocolate in the fridge I like it cold 😊 I'm also in Australia and in summer it melts if you leave it out

Driftingawaynow · 19/08/2025 19:29

Is everyone aware that a chocolate bar in the hand is actually worth 2 in the bush? And neither of those are refrigerated

SpidersAreShitheads · 19/08/2025 19:29

This thread is full of savages.

The only way to eat chocolate is slightly warm and gooey.

The chocolate adverts don’t show chocolatiers pulling big slabs out of the freezer do they?! No. They show gorgeous melted chocolate because they know the flavour is richer when it’s warm - and because it’s the only way it should be eaten.

I actually like the warm weather as it makes the inside of the Lindt sweets actually runny. The key is to be warm enough so the inside is melted and gooey but not so hot that the shell sticks to the wrapper and rips open prematurely. It’s an art.

You fridge lunatics shouldn’t be allowed chocolate. Shockers, the lot of you.

DeirdreChambersWhatACoincidence · 19/08/2025 19:29

SHARE a Terry's Chocolate Orange, @ConfusedSloth? Never mind being married, that's grounds for bloody divorce!

CaptainMyCaptain · 19/08/2025 19:29

I only eat very dark 85% chocolate and I keep it in the fridge.

BeMellowAquaSquid · 19/08/2025 19:30

My husband keeps crisps in the fridge says it makes the flavour stronger. Chocolate in the fridge is an absolute no for me save for toblerone.
