AIBU to think chocolate should NOT be kept in the fucking fridge?

ChocolateShouldNotBeInTheFuckingFridge · 19/08/2025 18:54

DH believes chocolate (including biscuits e.g. digestives) should be kept in the fridge because “it tastes nicer, keeps its shape and lasts longer”.

I believe chocolate should not be kept in the fridge because it’s fucking wrong, basically. Am I being unreasonable?

(There is also another AIBU worthy sub question, which is that if you can say you can fit a chocolate digestive in your mouth, YABU to then break it into pieces with bites as you put it in, so that it fits? This is clearly cheating and DH should be told he is YABU just for this alone? If I lose this fridge thread, I’ll start that one Wink)

I always keep chocolate in the fridge!

Chocolate is fine in the fridge, especially in the summer

But biscuits? In the fridge? Very very unreasonable!

Chocolate biscuits in the summer might live in the fridge?

Oh now you’ve raised another sub-topic… After Eight mints - do you leave the packets in the box?

A. Of course, because you get that little dopamine hit of achievement when you think they’ve run out and you triumphantly find one lurking in the middle of the empty envelopes… as with most things in life, the harder you work for something the more you appreciate it.

B. No, it throw them away straight away because I am boring and I don’t like fun.

A, obviously

BlackberryMuffinTop · 19/08/2025 19:12

Chocolate yes, chocolate biscuits no as I think the biscuity part would go soft and weird.

Easter egg from the fridge is my favourite thing ever, snapping bits off at a time 😋

You are correct.

The only place chocolate should be kept is in the freezer!

I have never even thought of doing this but am going to do so very soon…you evil genius, you x

DH is a teacher and the local Sainsburys had an offer on After Eights during the last week of term. He got seven boxes given to him. Four remain. All in the fridge - in plastic and in box. Once the box is open, it can get soggy so they need to be appropriately aired and not at the back to avoid that happening.

CookieSue222 · 19/08/2025 19:12

My SIL has a separate 'chocolate and butter' fridge (she is Swiss so has some choccy credentials).
It operates between 6 and 10 degrees as opposed to regular domestic fridges which are 3 to 5 degrees. The butter is spreadable, and the chocolate cool but doesn't break your teeth - perfect!

Well you’re just unreasonable on every level. I pity your joyless life without those examples.

I'll up the ante and say Frazzles too. Nasty little dry shards of disappointment

BebbanburgIsMine · 19/08/2025 19:13

Chocolate should absolutely NOT be kept in the fridge.

I didn’t know it was even a thing til I saw XMIL doing it, and thought it was very strange.

Malteaser bunnies fresh from the freezer. You're welcome

So I am hearing ‘fridge door’ as a solution?

TaborlinTheGreat · 19/08/2025 19:14

YANBU at all, OP. I can't believe so many people think YABU!

You could drip feed that he's a serial killer and you won't win. Sorry OP, no chance.

Hahaha DH said “I have put the chocolate digestives in the fridge, don’t say a fucking word” - I joked I should add that to the OP to elicit LTBs. Regretting that I didn’t now, frankly!

I’ve recently converted to dark chocolate. Dark chocolate from the fridge is amazing. Especially if it’s Morrisons the Best dark mint, slim and cracks beautifully from the fridge.

Our fridge has a specific box for chocolate...

It started because DD had CMPA so had all our dairy in it. But she's over her CMPA now and it's remained as a chocolate box...

I love this so much, how very efficiently Swiss.

StampOnTheGround · 19/08/2025 19:16

Hate choc from the fridge and my DH is like yours! I’ve only allowed the fridge in the heat waves because it was literally melting without, but usually absolutely not!

theresnolimits · 19/08/2025 19:16

Fridge always. Never hangs around long enough to go off.

After Eight envelopes left in box. I like to live on the edge.

SDTGisAnEvilWolefGenius · 19/08/2025 19:16

I love cold chocolate - I don’t eat things like Mars bars any more, but when I did, having one chilled meant it lasted longer - to took longer for me to eat it. I love the snap of chilled chocolate.

Room temperature chocolate is fine, as long as it’s cool - I really dislike melted chocolate.

But if you don’t like it chilled, @ChocolateShouldNotBeInTheFuckingFridge, that is fine too, and it does mean you can keep your chocolate in the cupboard, and it will be safe from your dh because it’s not chilled.

Absentmindedsmile · 19/08/2025 19:17

Digestive biscuits (chocolate or other), in the fridge? This is why aliens will Never visit us.

Yes, in the fridge. Sometimes I'll put a Twirl or Flake in the freezer - perfect!
