To think that the USA is a dictatorship now?

Trump appears to have ultimate power. Who can challenge him? Who controls him? Presidents should not be dictating what drug companies charge for medicines on a whim, or indeed any other goods, at the drop of a hat. He says jump and the US says "How High?" What on earth have you done to yourselves and the world to let this evil, thick, orange toddler clown represent you? What the hell were you thinking?

OK, so you do not see the many 12 year old girls raped here by the gangs and nobody doing anything about it....like really, where is the better part in this? A thread clearly about rivals the UK and the USA

I love the way that poster phrased it… yeah we have a massive problem with grooming gangs and importing huge numbers of men from cultures quite different to our own, but we’ll gloss over that - at least we don’t have your particular problem!

As though that’s anything to boast about. Amazing that the UK, that supposed bastion of human rights, throws its own young girls under the bus as collateral damage in pursuit of that most prized virtue- tolerance. Forget the human rights of its own citizens, those girls, how inconvenient they’re spoiling the multicultural fantasy.

I was told a few days ago by someone who was travelling to Washington soon that they check your phone as you enter the country to see if you have any anti- Trump stuff on your social media. If you do they can and will refuse entry. So they are going to set themselves up with a completely blank phone. I was 😮
Do you believe everything people tell you? Do you honestly think immigration have time to do this?

US Immigration are doing this.

Its not just individuals buying burner phones when going to the US. Organisations are providing employees travelling to America with blank phones and laptops.

🍪

He’s a dictator because he tells pharma companies to stop charging Americans way more than people in other countries for the same medicine? 😂

You have absolutely no idea what a dictatorship is.

VaseofViolets · 15/08/2025 21:48

What was the point in that exercise? All this ranting about orange rapists makes you sound unhinged.

You’ve listed all the ways you believe the UK is superior to the US. Good for you, you live here, that’s fine. What do you want, every single country on earth to be a carbon copy of this one? People are not the same - they have different cultures, different priorities. They’re allowed to. Just because you want it, doesn’t mean others have to. Don’t like the US? Dont live there. Why do you care so much? It’s none of your business.

And the tolerant UK you’re so proud of lets in masses of immigrant men to rape and abuse little girls - that’s the country you’re so proud of….

Starting to think op had an American crush who suddenly left the UK and married an actual American

spoonbillstretford · 15/08/2025 22:34

VaseofViolets · 15/08/2025 22:21

I’m not an American, why would I have that problem?

You’re well on your way in the UK - the country that has imprisoned more people for what they’ve posted on Twitter than Putin’s Russia.

And I don’t waste time reading trashy fiction.

We have laws against inciting racial hatred and against rioting, violence and causing criminal damage. People were charged, tried, and found guilty of breaking the law using lawful processes, and sentenced to a few months in prison. US sentencing is usually much harsher - people wouldn't see the light of day for years.

And now in the US people with the wrong coloured skin or accent are disappearing without lawful process or appeal. Get your own house in order. Good luck with voting out a dictator.

It's not in a state and certainly not compared to the US. We have a proper political and legal system with checks and balances and an independent system. We have free and accessible healthcare, not the scraps thrown to you occasionally after emptying your wallets into insurance. We have at least five weeks annual leave a year and proper matenity leave and sound employment rights. We have a very safe, tolerant country where we can freely express our views without fear of reprisal. We have largely very good race and gender relations. We don't have guns and violent crime is low. We don't have hundreds of kids killed by lone gumen a year in schools - in fact, like in most countries without a gun culture, we usually have zero school shootings in a year, unlike the US which averages one a week. Women can get safe, free abortions and contraception without fear of ptosecution or persecution. The US is seriously fucked up and is fast going to hell in a handcart with an orange rapist dictator.

And yet you’re mad that he is forcing pharma companies to bring down the price of drugs for Americans 😂

And all those horrible things you listed about the US are due to Trump right???

you’re a joke 😅

God knows why Brits think their opinions on Trump matter, or what they hope to achieve by lecturing supposedly dumb Americans on their stupidity. The US elected him. Their choice, no one else’s. Look at the state the UK is in. How are Brits in a position to pontificate to anyone?

Trump and Farage trigger so many MNers.

VaseofViolets · 15/08/2025 22:36

Educate yourself… by reading fiction.

Make it make sense 😂

Wonder if people mentioning The Handmaid’s Tale have ever actually read it? Or any other books? Maybe a non-fiction book? A history book or two? I doubt it.

LemonCatsHat · 15/08/2025 22:36

To be honest OP, I can’t stand the guy but I don’t think he’s a dictator and I don’t think America will reach dictatorship underneath him.

Do I think he is a rapist? Yes.
A misogynist? Yes.
Seriously dangerous to women, children and gay people? Yes.
A terrible fucking president? Yes.
An utter idiot? Yes.

But I don’t think he has reached dictatorship just yet and I don’t think he will achieve it. Even if he would like to.

It's the Reform racist fuckwits who are trying to divide the country, fomenting hatred, and the Brexit that they wanted, and the last government who were corrupt and incompetent. The reasonable and rational majority must rise up and fight the minority extremists.

No, none of us have ever read books, fiction or non-fiction, or studied history. You’re right.

You are horribly misinformed and frothing nonsense. Grooming gangs have been discovered, investigated, prosecuted and locked up. Unlike your President, best mates with Jeffrey Epstein. I wouldn't make the grooming argument if I were you, it's not a great look with the US's appalling record on women's and girl's rights and how sex crimes and unwanted pregnancy are dealt with. Get some maternity rights for a start like a civilised country.

It's generally accepted that Brits tend to stereotypically see the USA as, whatever you want to call it, thick headed. We just don't normally spout off about it, because we're British.

Anyhoo - now more than ever the battle of good over evil is won not by being divisive but looking at what we have in common. We all want a better future for the children of today. We might disagree on how to get there, who is to blame, and have deep valid concerns about whether people from different countries are going to share the same values - so the next 10-15 years are not going to be easy.

That’s true. But he relinquished it before despite threatening that he wouldn’t, I’m not sure he will be able to not. I think what comes af the r him could be more frightening. Vance frightens me more than Trump in many ways.

SpryUmberZebra · 15/08/2025 22:40

spoonbillstretford · 15/08/2025 21:45

You had Jeffrey Epstein and a massive grooming gang involving hundreds of American men, including your esteemed President.

You have twelve year olds being raped and unable to get an abortion. Hell, only a few years ago 12 year olds were getting married in some states.

And yet your precious Queen protected her pedophile son after he raped an underaged girl on Epstein’s island.

Bloody hypocrite.

SpuytenDuyvil · 15/08/2025 22:41

Trump is by far the worst president of the modern era. He is more malicious, more petty and more cruel than you might believe. It's shocking and horrifying. Most of the people who defend him on this site are not actually Americans. And, remember less than 30% of the voting population voted for him.

Tryingtokeepgoing · 15/08/2025 22:41

SamPM · 15/08/2025 21:22

I live in the US and its not a dictatorship. Many of us are quite happy with Trump. The UK elected Starmer who is the most incompetent and worthless PM in my lifetime. You should be worrying more about your loss of freedom of speech and civil liberties, the two-tier justice system you have, the crumbling NHS and the overwhelming increase in crime rate and unfettered illegal immigration. I no longer recognize the UK when I go back and definitely do not feel safe. But yes, by all means, have a superior smug dig at Trump and those that voted for him.

Fortunately illegal immigration in the UK is far lower than in the US, as is crime, We live our life free from religious bigotry and are able to speak and act freely without fear of an over zealous police or immigration service hauling us off the streets. Not only that, we don’t have the level of inequality or racism that pervades the US and manage to provide universal health care. The US is, in the rest of the world, seen as one of the nicest developing world countries however, so you’re doing okay ;)

Yeah and both of those people behaved despicably.

Someone commenting about the US doesn’t have to turn into a U.K. vs US situation. We have problems, we’ve had bad management for some time now. But so has the US. Paedophilia and rape and control of women has been rife across the world and it’s getting worse. Making out that the U.K. also has issues - yes we know - doesn’t negate the problems under Trump’s America.

Liberal news outlets? Right, I'll get straight onto authoritarian news outlets instead, as you famously get all sides of the story on those. 🙄

There is literally no evidence that Trump engaged in anything like that, he’s he was friends with Epstein same as many other people and it’s documented that he cut ties with Epstein ages ago when rumors of the crap started but your man Andrew continued and was protected by her majesty his mummy.

if there was proof against Trump don’t you think Biden would have released it? They did everything to try to prevent him from running yet you think there’s proof against Trump and they didn’t use it?
