About Gender neutral loo

paulhollywoodshairgel · 14/08/2025 18:59

I was in a museum today and my daughter (15) left me to go to the loo. She then waved me over.. she said to me.. I’d rather not use the gender neutral loo. I said that’s fine and sent her down a level to the ladies. A woman the approached me and preceded to tell me off for not encouraging my daughter to use the GN loo. How she has a trans child and how are they ever going to feel accepted with people like me around. I’m ND and I always second guess myself 10000 times a day. I wasn’t in the wrong was I?? I just said ok go and use the other separate loo. Surely my child can pee wherever she feels comfortable??!! I hate conflict so I just said ok and walked off!

I actually think a good response to the woman would have been "why are you so invested in getting my child into a state of semi undress in a small space with men present?"

Realistically my response, if taken very much by surprise, would probably be a simple "fuck off!"

LiesDoNotBecomeUs · 15/08/2025 00:31

OP you were right to support your daughter. Learning to listen to their instincts in matters like this is an important survival skill for girls.

What a pity the other parent was allowing her child to feel such a need for validation from other people.

Wouldn't it be more useful to show him/her that:
-Being accepted as a person is good enough for anyone.
-People who act truthfully when they recognise your sex are not rejecting you or attacking you, they are just seeing you.
-The way you see yourself is a matter for you alone.(Being confident about that is something everyone has to work on.)

InfoSecInTheCity · 14/08/2025 23:48

Well then clearly as you can’t be arsed to actually understand what you’re arguing about or take even the smallest amount of time or effort to learn we should all listen to you.

I see how it works. By your logic you can just decide what you want the truth to be, state it to be the truth with no supporting evidence, make derisive comments to anyone who states a differing opinion and continue to stubbornly declare everyone else wrong even if they present evidence.

Cool. Thanks for your input in this conversation.

What the hell you have with me???? I never said I know the truth! And I never said she shouldn't use the ladies toilet either! I said in another post that she should use the toilet she is comfortable with and people should mind their own buisness. But the argument with men peeing all over the floor and cameras in the toilet is ridiculous!!!

Missanimosity · 15/08/2025 01:48

DrPrunesqualer · 14/08/2025 23:43

No need to be rude about my post it simply makes yours less worthy

Of course men wee all over the floor.

If you’re not aware of spy camera use in toilets then you need to avail yourself of the news more

Edited

Men wee all over the floor? Right! Cameras are in all toilets has norhing to do with gender neutral. I am mot rude just because i challenge a post you made doesen't make me rude. But, sure, right, it is as you say, if you think the way of not being rude is to ageee with you. Ok.
Sorry for typos fat fingers

Gosh every thread I’ve read recently about women’s experiences and concerns has had man-panderers rushing on to Not-My-Nigel, and getting all upset on behalf of the poor men.

We can all smell the difference between men’s and women’s loos. Of course they wee everywhere! We all know that! No need to try to convince us that men are badly done to by someone stating facts.

Men do not pee all over the floor! My man does not, so stop using the word men, is simply not true. This is a fact, not your facts. Thank you!

My daughters classmates did a research project in bacterial growth in swabs taken in men, womens and mixed sex toilets. Guess which type of toilets had the most growth?

  1. Mens
  2. Mixed sex
  3. Womens

I am not trying to convince you anymore by anything. Not worth it. Is fine, men are dirty pigs! Bastards!

I'd guess mixed sex on the basis there are different bacteria that are more likely to be on each sex? So you get the full set. Is just a guess though!

We have mixed sex loos at work and they're generally about as clean as the single sex ones we had in our previous office but they're cleaned throughout the day. I would rather they were single sex but apparently if they were we'd need extra ones - you can have fewer if everyone can use them.

What are we to take from this comment?

That you think the OP's daughter has no rights to her own boundaries? 🤔

OneCoralCat · 15/08/2025 07:36

All the people saying it’s outrageous or disgusting to share loos, genuinely what do you do in places where only one loo exists? Until the relatively recent gender neutral publication of toilets became ‘a thing’, I’d often go to cafes, shops, hairdressers etc with only one loo and never questioned it being an issue.

TheUsualChaos · 15/08/2025 07:44

But when it's an all in one single cloakroom, it's one in, one out. That's fine. It's not the same as mixed sex toilet facilities where you have to share the space.

OP, of course you weren't in the wrong. The other lady needed to mind her own business but the TRA brigade do like to make every situation all about them.

BlueJuniper94 · 15/08/2025 07:46

DrPrunesqualer · 14/08/2025 19:02

Of course you weren’t in the wrong

Men put cameras in these mixed sex toilets and wee all over the floor

Id have told her to mind her own business

Male cleaners can just as easily do the same in women's toilets. Fewer men with access does reduce the risk quite a bit I would think though.

ThatBlackCat · 15/08/2025 08:00

These 'trans parents' are so selfish and vile, they really only think of themselves. Imagine being so self-absorbed you actually think you have the right to lecture another mother and her 15 year old daughter on the daughter feeling on safe in gender neutral toilets? The bloody narcissism from these hateful people has to be seen to be believed. How DARE she?!?

beAsensible1 · 15/08/2025 08:02

You were right.

why you force you child to use somewhere they feel uncomfortable? That would be like forcing her child to use a toilet where they felt uncomfortable.

when’s it different??

regardless no point arguing with strangers it has zero benefit.

Well yes, but posters here are saying they wouldn’t use them because ‘men put cameras in them’, surely that’s a risk in a one in one out? Or that men are dirty and so they won’t be clean. Neither of those things would be changed by it being one in one out.

ThatBlackCat · 15/08/2025 08:07

Ruggerlass · 14/08/2025 19:08

Of course your daughter can chose to use a ladies only loo, but tbh if the gender neutral loo has self-contained cubicles I don’t really see what the issue is. A lot of cafes, restaurants etc, particularly small ones only have one loo. The women who approached you was out of order though.

Firstly, this clearly is not a place with only one toilet, so that point is irrelevant. And it's not about the cubicles. It's about the room and facility itself. No woman likes 'gender neutral loos'. No woman wants them.If you were a rape survivor or sexual trauma victim you'd understand it. Not that women and girls should have to justify our hard won rights to sex-based spaces. Feminists fought so hard for single sex spaces for safety, privacy and dignity, and I wish people would stop taking a shit on their headstones and acting as if everything these foremother feminists did was for nothing. All gender neutral should be banned.

Men wee all over them.
Men put cameras in them.
As stated multiple times by PPs.

OP you are not in the wrong at all and the sooner we stop pandering to this nonsense the better

myplace · 15/08/2025 08:08

Places that have only one loo generally are far less busy. The risks increase with the number of people accessing the loo. With an hourly check, the loos in the science museum, for example, will get inspected every two hundred users rather than every ten users in a small cafe.
<random guesstimated numbers>

More people, more risks.

ThatBlackCat · 15/08/2025 08:10

LittleMG · 14/08/2025 19:10

She was wrong for approaching you your child can wee where she wants. However, I do think your child is being a bit weird, just use the loo fgs. You’ve not got to live there just have a wee and leave. I think I would have encouraged my child to use that loo but tbh my kids wouldn’t have been bothered, why was she so bothered by it?

No woman wants gender neutral loos, and not a vulnerable 15 year old girl! We are not 'weird' for wanting our HARD WON SEX-BASED SPACES AND RIGHTS. Many of us are rape survivors and sexual trauma victims and hard RIGHT to safety, privacy and dignity away from the male gaze is a basic human right. Can people stop shitting all over our foremother feminists headstones and acting like what they achieved for us was for nothing? Why are you being so weird about wanting girls to use intimate toilet facilities with men?

myplace · 15/08/2025 08:11

A caretaker responsible for keeping toilets clean explained that the gents would not smell fresh until the floor was taken up and replaced. The grout fails and urine seeps into the concrete and under the tiles. No amount of mopping will sort it.

I think he suspected the extra mopping in men’s toilets, and the larger quantity of urine on the floor, caused the grout to fail. He was very unhappy that ‘his’ toilets always smelled unclean despite his best efforts.

Amby99 · 15/08/2025 08:11

Completely agree with you!! I don’t feel comfortable using a ‘gender neutral’ loo. I’m a woman and so want to use the loos that are designated for women, as did your daughter! So rude of that lady to comment, I’m sure as hell she wouldn’t like it if you made a comment about her gender neutral child!

ThatBlackCat · 15/08/2025 08:12

ThejoyofNC · 14/08/2025 19:16

Can't say my response would have been much different from this.

She would be sorry she tried it on me because I'd have told her more than she wanted to know.

Yes. She'd be told in no uncertain terms that just because she failed in her job as a mother doesn't mean she gets to remove the boundaries of vulnerable teenage girls. She's a walking red flag!

Men are disgusting in toilets, I lived a pub and my dad would heave cleaning them.

And as for cameras, you need to do a bit of research. Anywhere men go where women undress, there's an increased risk of secret cameras.

I was in a museum recently and there was a queue for the ladies. Someone pointed out that there were gender neutral loos with no queue. Not a single woman moved to use the gender neutral loos. They'd rather queue.

Yep, in reality, NO female wants to use a loo with men around. It's reality.
