To think the Lionesses' Outfits in this Picture are Ridiculous?

OK, so they go to Downing Street to celebrate their win with the high and mighty of the land ... But who the f**k thought that combination of baggy trousers, grey, black, long shorts, low heeled shoes, a bit of white here and there was The Look?

Are they trying make them look like men because women's football shouldn't be allowed? Did any of them have the opportunity to say "actually, those big, baggy trousers don't suit me"? Because they don't for a lot of them...

The only thing I noticed was their happy beaming faces. Wonderful photo of wonderful women

PlumpAndDeliciousFatcat · 28/07/2025 22:54

The misogyny is coming from inside the house.

Sorry but I agree. Their outfits are awful. And for that reason distract from their brilliant sporting achievement.

What absolute nonsense.

Maybe those criticising their ‘look’ are a tad too old to appreciate that is what young women and girls wear.

Must admit that I don’t know any young women below around 35 who would choose to wear M&S cheap polyester trousers tbh.

spoonbillstretford · 28/07/2025 22:55

I remember having trouser suits when I started my legal career in 1999 and one (female!) partner telling me that I shouldn't wear trousers at work. In 1999! This reminds me of that conversation.

What a mean-spirited OP.

I thought they were footballers not fashion models.

This. Should they have been wearing hotpants?

MorningLarkEchoes · 28/07/2025 22:56

LoztWorld · 28/07/2025 22:18

very low-effort goading, OP

Shock horror. Someone has a different opinion to you. They must be goading 😂

NewbieYou · 28/07/2025 22:57

They’re completely normal outfits for women in their 20s. Half my office dresses like that… young women don’t want to wear stilettos and tight arse-showing skirts or skinny trousers anymore.

Whatshesaid96 · 28/07/2025 22:57

Have a look at what M&S have had the mens team wearing over the last few years also. Just as bad, apparently its either fashion or I'm old beyond my 30ish years I can't decide which.

kittensinthekitchen · 28/07/2025 22:58

I think they look great from the photo someone posted. Very 'Best Guess' by Lucy Dacus

MustTryHarderAndHarder · 28/07/2025 22:58

I liked the trousers and I am 60.

AcquadiP · 28/07/2025 22:58

Nah, I like them.

FridayFeelingmidweek · 28/07/2025 22:58

'Low heeled shoes' is my favourite part haha! So funny. They look great. Perhaps issue is poster's view of what women 'should' look like.

I love that these women are dressing for themselves, in smart suits rather than naff dresses and not being ruled my patriarchal expectations.

carmak · 28/07/2025 22:59

It just looked like one baggy, beige mess to me. I don't care much about fashion or football, but I think it's a pity their clothes overshadowed the occasion.

BlueyNeedsToFuckOff · 28/07/2025 23:01

'Low heeled shoes' is my favourite part haha!

I’m sure after just finishing an intensive football tournament with all the strain that puts on even the fittest people’s feet and legs they really wanted to wear stilettos…

justasoul · 28/07/2025 23:01

Oh those are exactly the type of clothes teen DD wears, wide trousers, waistcoats in fifty shades of beige… she loves an M&S too 😅

NapoleonsToe · 28/07/2025 23:02

Elite sportswomen judged on their sporting achievements clothes.

How utterly depressing.

manicpixieschemegirl · 28/07/2025 23:02

The beige trousers and black loafers are very much giving Tony Soprano but they’re marginally better than the long shorts a couple of them had on.

They didn't...

Sorry, but I'm not goading, I'm just not understanding That Look ...

Hmm how old are you OP? They are fashion forward and you maybe a little dated? Not least we can conclude you are based on commenting on women’s clothes…

Tollington · 28/07/2025 23:03

Another post about women’s football

Yawn

I see loads of young girls and women wearing baggy pants and waistcoats. Admittedly, they probably don’t buy them from M and S.

It's not about the football. It's a shallow attempt to define them by what they're wearing.

The majority of the team are lesbians. They are unlikely to be wearing flowery dresses. The majority of lesbians I know are masc and wear walking gear constantly. If they were going to a smart event they'd wear exactly what those young women are wearing in that photo
