To think the Lionesses' Outfits in this Picture are Ridiculous?

OK, so they go to Downing Street to celebrate their win with the high and mighty of the land ... But who the f**k thought that combination of baggy trousers, grey, black, long shorts, low heeled shoes, a bit of white here and there was The Look?

Are they trying make them look like men because women's football shouldn't be allowed? Did any of them have the opportunity to say "actually, those big, baggy trousers don't suit me"? Because they don't for a lot of them...

Absolutely not - but it should be THEIR choice. It's the blandness and starkness of the colours along with the ridiculously unflattering bagginess of those outfits which I bet they wouldn't have chosen if they had been given the chance....

People in professional positions are expected to dress or behave in certain ways in certain situations. When the men's team undertake formal occasions, they wear suits.

I rest my case...😀

Hardly. You/we have no idea what the team members thought - they may have loved these outfits and dressing as a team. But I imagine that, whilst celebrating a hard won prestigious trophy, they would think this a pretty trivial thing for someone to focus on.

I think the FA pay for most things! Sarina for a start! I thought they might be the M&S suits on their web site. Just not flattering for many of them. Sadly. You need to be very tall and willowy. M&S could have made alternative trouser shapes available and beige is …… beige. Poor choice of colour.

The waistcoats were alright, and some people might look OK in the shorts though. like the trousers, they were not well cut and as you say you'd need to be very tall and willowy to wear this assortment. The trousers were absolutely shapeless, I can't imagine that anybody would feel or look their best in them. willowy, athletic or whatever shape you were. And, again as you said, beige is .... well, beige. Few would choose it.

@angela1952 An opportunity lost I feel.

I feel it's a shame they didn't have something that befitted their status to wear for such an occasion.

TizerorFizz · 01/08/2025 17:23

@angela1952 Yes. Agree. I suspect some of them are only comfortable in sports clothes but good sports clothes look better than the suits, in my view.

Itiswhysofew · 01/08/2025 17:35

Yeah, they're pretty awful outfits.

PaleRosePlease · 05/08/2025 08:16

I think they look insane, I actually love the looks and they all look streamlined and uniform and not trying too hard ❤

PinkSparklyPussyCat · 05/08/2025 09:51

To be honest I think it's more a reflection on the crap quality from M&S than the Lionesses.

Mothership4two · 05/08/2025 13:13

I asked a 21 year old woman and she loved the trousers

TizerorFizz · 05/08/2025 16:56

M&S has some pretty decent clothes now. These were not their best offering by a long way. My 30 year old laughed!

I love the fact they aren’t conforming to some old fashioned beauty standard of what a woman ‘dressed up’ should look like… ie dresses, heels, clutch purses etc like they’re aunts at a wedding! They’re young athletes and can dress how they like.

I like the style – clean, quite masculine, interestingly cut and shaped clothes – but the M&S iteration of it is in dull colours and badly made. Somewhere like Cos does this sort of look a lot better.

Maybe, but Cos wasn’t paying a fortune to sponsor the team! Now they’re undeniably successful perhaps they’ll have more choice re sponsors though I would imagine would always try to use U.K. companies for some stuff at least
