To think the Lionesses' Outfits in this Picture are Ridiculous?

OK, so they go to Downing Street to celebrate their win with the high and mighty of the land ... But who the f**k thought that combination of baggy trousers, grey, black, long shorts, low heeled shoes, a bit of white here and there was The Look?

Are they trying make them look like men because women's football shouldn't be allowed? Did any of them have the opportunity to say "actually, those big, baggy trousers don't suit me"? Because they don't for a lot of them...

That's the fashion at the moment, wide leg trousers and waistcoat type tops. Didn't think twice when I saw the photo!

Isittimeformynapyet · 29/07/2025 18:12

"And who TF even thinks to question baggy, beige tailored trousers?!!"

You don't know the actual meaning of the word tailored, do you?

Oh feck off, Madame pretentious 🙄

Were they actually offered the choice to wear or not to wear?

I can't say for certain but I doubt Mark and/or Spencer held guns to their heads over a pair of wide leg trousers.

The people in M+S whose job it was to get the clothes showcased care.

I care

The players will absolutely care, and their personal sponsors will care.

The deserved clothes that fitted them properly and there ought to have been dress makers there to do that for them.

The players will absolutely care

You have absolutely no idea if they were unhappy with their outfits.

Bleachedlevis · 29/07/2025 22:58

I think they look fine and dressing in similar colours makes them look like a team.

Exactly. It is particularly favoured by young gay women (of which there are a good number on the England squad).
People (including other women) will fall over themselves to criticise how women look. If they had turned up in tight trousers, or short dresses there'd be a thread on here about it. Perhaps it's better for v then to wear the corporate sponsored clothes, because at least then no one is pulling apart their own personal sense of style - which we know they would.

Pyjamatimenow · 29/07/2025 23:43

I’m not bothered about what they’re wearing but I think it’s awful Chloe Kelly swore in her interview. Supposed to be a role model. Disgusting

spoonbillstretford · 30/07/2025 00:09

Oh fuck off. She was excited to win, who cares? And you could barely hear her as everyone was chanting her name, it was a lovely moment.

BasilParsley · 29/07/2025 18:51

I wasn't criticising the team - I was criticising the people who dressed them... I agree, they are not fashion objects and their achievement is brilliant. But, it's media and PR who force such bland fashion on them... Was any one of them able to say "actually, I think I might like a yellow belt there?". No, I think not...

Seriously?! 🤔
"actually, I think I might like a yellow belt there?"
I cannot imagine one of those women giving half a second's thought or voice to the how they could improve on the look of one of their possibly major sponsor's clothes or in the scheme of things at that time why TAF it would matter!? 😕
Your facile, pointless and unnecessary post say far more about you and your 'stuck in the past' attitude to what really matters than it could ever do about the Lionesses and what they're wearing!! 🙄

It was only a lovely moment if the bar has been set extremely low to begin with, and if you think being a lout is a good look. Yes, they won a championship but there are far better role models out there.

Franjipanl8r · 30/07/2025 02:29

I really like the outfits! Perfect attire for sporty women who want to look smart and be comfortable.

One player swore and that makes them all ‘louts’ and poor role models?

It should have been a lovely moment but she totally spoilt it for herself and her teammates. A complete embarrassment. Kids had travelled from all over to see that moment and she’s swearing like that? Awful.

Onleemoi · 30/07/2025 07:42

It was one word. It does not spoil or diminish anything. The only issue is people tripping over themselves to find fault with these women, for saying a word they don’t like, for not wearing yellow belts, for not being as fast as men. Madness.

If it hadn’t been a single swear word it would have been something else. There would have been criticism if she had punched the air, or not smiled enough, or pulled an unattractive grimace. There will always be something that they can find. There are just too many people who don’t think women should take up space in public life, and sadly many of those people are women themselves.

Pyjamatimenow · 30/07/2025 07:53

@Onleemoi but it does. I’ve got a very keen footballer daughter who plays at county level. Her team were all watching and some parents had taken their kids to London. We are all for supporting these women. Not looking to tear them down. She’s done that herself. There were several comments about her swearing when we should be focusing on the football so it certainly diminished it here and I’m sure we weren’t the only ones.

Then you all need to lighten up and enjoy the moment rather than picking one tiny part of the celebrations to get het up about. There’s so much more you could be focusing on.

Worralorra · 30/07/2025 07:59

They are footballers, not models! I expect a lot of them are very aware that if they wear anything even slightly sexy, they will be subjected to abuse for showing off their, no doubt enviably, athletic figures… When you have idiots like Joey Barton loudly denouncing their achievements it’s probably best to stick to unremarkable clothes!

They’re incredible role models. Look at how much they support each other and work as a team. It’s wonderful to watch. They were respectful to each other, other players and the referees. Fabulous sporting role models.

Swearing doesn’t diminish that. Surely as a parent you can explain that adults sometimes swear, especially in exciting or emotional situations. It’s not a big deal AND she apologised.

HighLadyofTheNightCourt · 30/07/2025 08:04

And not only have they been great role models throughout the tournament many of them are doing this alongside university degrees and training for other careers. All of this with the constant social media narrative telling them they’re not good enough because they’re women.

No one says women are not good enough at womens sport! Who listens to Joey Barton? Women need to get off social media if he bothers them. Honestly he’s irrelevant. I thought they looked dreadful too. Boring beige.

Ha ha. If your daughter plays football seriously she will have heard worse (my dd was on the talent pathway so came up through county football).

Pyjamatimenow · 30/07/2025 08:09

@HighLadyofTheNightCourt there were at least 7 newspapers leading the story with her ‘F bomb’ and featuring it in their headlines. I think that’s a shame for her and her teammates. It was a really stupid thing to do.

The beige looked nice on Michelle Agyemang I thought. They weren't the most amazing outfits but fair play to the girls for not giving a shit and being appreciatve to the sponsors.
