To vote for Jeremy Corbyn’s new party over Reform

Just wondering how people here are feeling politically these days — especially those who are disillusioned Starmer and the Tories.

With Reform UK gaining momentum and Jeremy Corbyn & Zarah Sultana launching a new left-wing party I’m curious:
If you had to choose between the two, which would you be more likely to vote for — and why?

I know they’re obviously very different politically, but both seem to be tapping into dissatisfaction with the status quo. Reform appeals to those who feel let down by immigration policy, the economy and ‘woke’ culture, while Corbyn’s party is focused on wealth inequality, public ownership, Gaza, and climate justice.

Would love to hear where people stand — especially if you don’t usually vote, or have changed political allegiances recently.

YABU - Vote Reform
YANBU - Vote JC

Regarding us becoming an industrial powerhouse again. You need industries for that. They've mostly been killed off causing mass unemployment and post industrial decline in many areas. The amount of money needed to revive the UK as an industrial anything would be huge.

I can't believe people think that someone who worships Thatcher, who destroyed industry in the country, will make us an industrial powerhouse.

LizzieW1969 · 28/07/2025 18:06

I really wouldn’t vote for either of them. If they were the only 2 options, I just wouldn’t vote at all.

It doesn't have to be heavily industry like the part. We do reasonably well in the creative and financial industries. I don't think anyone is thinking we should reopen the mines.

Cannot stand Corbyn or Sultana who are horrifically anti-Semitic. I’m not Jewish and until very recently, pro Palestine but the way that Jews have been treated has been so one-sided, voting for Corbyn and Sultana would be a vote for sectarianism.

BreadInCaptivity · 28/07/2025 18:10

Neither unless I see some clear, practical policies that can actually be implemented.

Plus a demonstration that their key figures are people with appropriate levels of expertise, decency/morality and intelligence (rather than activists and/or reliant on Trumpian soundbites).

As stands, neither party can meet those requirements, though in fairness the mainstream parties are also lacking (just to a lesser extent).

upandleftthenright · 28/07/2025 18:12

Wouldn’t vote for either, different ends of the same shit

Jumpthewaves · 28/07/2025 18:12

No idea why mumsnet deleted one of my posts. Pretty sure everything I've posted has been within talk guidelines.

Firstly why, when the UK is fecked, would gaza be one of the main things your party plans to deal with when in reality the only thing the UK can do is declare war on Israel. Plus you have a track record of anti semitisum?

Secondly, given that the current 'left wing ' party has done the 6th form politics thing of votes for 16 year olds, attacked 'rich' pensioners, increasing taxes (soon), removing the triple lock (soon) what the feck will Corbyn do... renationalisation? Yeh that really worked well last time... British Leyland, British rail, etc

I see. Farage, who wouldn't know hard work if it slapped him with a fish, is going to magic up a huge boost of creativity and finance. He's not going to invest though as the 100bn in manifesto promises, including huge tax cuts, won't leave any money. Instead workers will unite in admiration for our great leader (down the boozer) and dedicate themselves to becoming a wonder of the modern world.

Maybe they won't stick to renationalising and start nationalising successful British companies generally - make us more like China.

SparklyPink123 · 28/07/2025 18:26

Absolutely under no circumstances would I vote Reform. I will vote tactically for whoever is most likely to keep them out. Not Conservative, but any other party.

Flozle · 28/07/2025 18:27

Jamaicanmoon · 28/07/2025 17:31

What a biased summary you have of the two parties - all negatives for Reform and all positives for Corbyn.

I think either of those two will be an absolute disaster in power. Neither have the experience in their parties for government. Having said that I would pick Reform. Even if you hate him, Farage has been extremely successful as a politician having successfully achieved a referendum he wanted, and then won it. Whether you hated that this happened is irrelevant to it being successful in terms of a politician achieving his goal. It was a major goal too. Corbyn has failed massively. Spent his life as a backbencher, surprised everyone, including himself, in becoming leader and then led his party to a historic defeat. He has achieved precisely none of his political goals.

So I'd vote Farage simply because he has been more successful politically.

Hitler was successful politically. You voting for him? (Hypothetically, obviously, before the pedants come steaming in).

GulliaumeDuc · 28/07/2025 18:31

In some dystopian hellscape where they’re the two options and not voting is punishable by death, I’d probably go JC.

NaicePanda · 28/07/2025 18:32

Be interesting to know where all the Corbyn voters are from. Not from my neck of the woods I'd wager.

MrsBennetsPoorNerves · 28/07/2025 18:35

Bumblebee72 · 28/07/2025 17:56

Of course they will. Reform is the only option at the next election - anyone is a vote for the continuation of the decline of the UK. Hopefully labour won't have created so many more benefit scroungers by then that there will be no one left to vote for sense.

Bless you, I think you actually believe the nonsense that you're spouting. I actually feel quite sorry for you.

In the job centre - scoping up the handouts.

The magic wand will be stopping and removing the immigrants doing the jobs.

I don't believe that's the magic fix Farage wants you to think it is.

And it doesn't address the AI issue.

AbundanceofKatherines · 28/07/2025 18:39

Fuck me! What a choice Confused Neither thanks.

Or Totnes.

NaicePanda · 28/07/2025 18:41

I'd vote Reform over Corbyn. Or Labour or Tories or Greens.

Hellomeee · 28/07/2025 18:42

Bunion8 · 28/07/2025 17:41

I apologise, It probably speaks to my own leanings. I’d edit the post but I’m not sure how.

I recognise that Reform should be credited for their vision of a low tax, pro- corporate future, for Farages clarity and consistency and support of free speech. (What else am I missing?)

I quite liked his idea of front loading child benefits. I still voted labour though. I don't know who I will vote for next time but unlikely to be either Farage or Corbyn.

Catsandcannedbeans · 28/07/2025 18:43

I would chew off my arm before I voted Reform. I will probably vote for Corbyn anyway because I’m a loser leftist workshy dosser who wants to live in a commune funded by your taxes.

SpaceRaccoon · 28/07/2025 18:45

YANBU to vote for whoever you wish on the ballot, as is your right.

Farmwifefarmlife · 28/07/2025 18:45

Bumblebee72 · 28/07/2025 17:46

Reform all the way for me. We've already had a party that was lead by Corbyn it was awful. Reform will make the changes we need to bring the state spending under control and reduce taxes. They will stop the import of cheap labour and get the Brits back to work. The UK needs to go back to being the industrial powerhouse it once was rather than the land of the snowflakes as it is now known.

I agree with this just hope it’s not too late!

You'd only need to hate the Jews to win Corbyn Bingo! Which is a joke obviously...
