To vote for Jeremy Corbyn’s new party over Reform

Bunion8 · 28/07/2025 17:09

Just wondering how people here are feeling politically these days — especially those who are disillusioned Starmer and the Tories.

With Reform UK gaining momentum and Jeremy Corbyn & Zarah Sultana launching a new left-wing party I’m curious:
If you had to choose between the two, which would you be more likely to vote for — and why?

I know they’re obviously very different politically, but both seem to be tapping into dissatisfaction with the status quo. Reform appeals to those who feel let down by immigration policy, the economy and ‘woke’ culture, while Corbyn’s party is focused on wealth inequality, public ownership, Gaza, and climate justice.

Would love to hear where people stand — especially if you don’t usually vote, or have changed political allegiances recently.

YABU - Vote Reform
YANBU - Vote JC

Been voting green / lib dem for 20 years. Both very good locally and doing increasing numbers nationally. Its great knowing you didn't bote for the corrupt incompetence of the Tories or the centrist unambitiousness of Labour.
Reform are a joke. I can't understand anyone thinking they will be any better than the Tories. They have most of the same policies just turned up to 11. It won't work.

Helpins · 28/07/2025 21:14

Considering the fact that a huge proportion of the Jewish community actively fear Corbyn gaining power, due to his history of enabling anti-semitism, you’ve got to pretty callous to still vote for him regardless.

You say labour have turned the country divisive and hateful, but you’re voting reform? Are you really this delusional? You don’t have to like Labour to understand that ‘divisive and hateful’ are embedded in the very soul of reform. That’s why they have gained such popularity with their ‘us vs them’ rhetoric. Can’t believe someone can be so blinkered as to write what you just did with a straight face.

Oh FYI insulting people for their voting choices is exactly what turns more people away from Labour etc!!

I couldn’t give two shits. It’s nothing to do with me, but do you not see the major flaws in your thought processes here?

They are the only alternative where I live ie Red Wall area. They are only opposition party to Labour up here, I have explained that but you obviously chose to ignore that bit 🙄
Labour have lost most of Red Wall to Reform.

Politicians tend to care a lot about the red wall voters so that’ll be interesting.

Dummydimmer · 28/07/2025 21:18

Silly question. It's good to have more parties with different perspectives. Let's have more new ideas.

To quote you "I couldn't give 2 shits". I don't have to justify my position to you.
Reform are only viable alternative in many constituencies now.

Nope you don’t have to justify anything, but this is a discussion forum and I’m allowed an opinion just like you. Your reasoning is completely flawed and illogical, but crack on.

JustSawJohnny · 28/07/2025 21:20

I always said I'd die before I voted Tory, but I'd vote Tory before I vote Reform!!

Never EVER.

Easy choice for me.

My reasoning is completely logical. It would be flawed to vote anything other than Reform if I want to get my Labour MP out. It would be a wasted vote.
Just because you don't agree doesn't make my reasoning flawed and illogical.

millymollymoomoo · 28/07/2025 21:24

How anyone could even consider voting jc is beyond me

a man who sides with terrorists, thinks it Shame osama vin laden was killed, wants completely open borders and would drive anyone with half a brain out of this country taking any money they have with them rather than stay under this communist

love him or loathe him, at least garage is patriotic about this country !

Of course it is, by the very fact you accused Labour of lying, gaslighting and being decisive and hateful. Four adjectives that can be used to describe reform to a much greater degree. You don’t seem to see this. Oh well, no point arguing about it I suppose. ‘I don’t like something, so I’ll vote for more of the things I don’t like, just 1000x worse. Yes, you’re right, very logical 😂

You aren't seriously suggesting that Labour aren't "lying, gaslighting and being decisive and hateful" are you 🤣🤣🤣?
I will vote for whomever can get them out in my area

It’s not about whether Labour lie or not, is it? Can you not see my point? If you can’t, then there’s not much hope for you, is there? You suggesting your thoughts are logical becomes even more laughable if you can’t comprehend a simple point.

MrsSkylerWhite · 28/07/2025 21:34

None of the above. The two extremes of batshitery.

I completely get your point, I simply don't give a shit about it. Hope that clears it up for you.
Your sneery arrogance perfectly sums up everything I hate about Starmer et al.

AuntiePushpa · 28/07/2025 21:38

Zarah Sultana absolutely. Can't wait to see a proper leftwing party in power - building back the nhs and a dignified welfare safety net, tackling the climate crisis, not pandering to racists.

So you don’t like what Labour do, but you have completely thought through the fact you intend to vote for a known populist party who will do even more of the things you claim you don’t like about Labour, and more that’s even worse to boot?

OK, got it 👍

DisappearingGirl · 28/07/2025 21:51

Maybe people's disillusionment isn't because of any major fault with the centrist parties, but because it's actually hard to run a country and provide all the services people want whilst also keeping tax low enough to prevent whinging.

I'm not sure we'd be any better off voting for an uber-left or uber-right party.

Personally, although they are not perfect, I'm happy to give Labour a go for a few years. They seem broadly centrist and broadly pragmatic, and they're more keen on fixing public services than the Tories were. Any party needs a few years to actually make any lasting changes. Happy to give them a proper go.

Yeah because as stated earlier I'm now a 1 policy voter....FYI it isn't immigration!

In what way are reform viable? Their policies at the last election have been analysed and they would destroy the economy. They are racist, sexist chancers just looking to benefit themselves. How is that good for the people of the red wall?

Point if information: Corbyn said it was a shame bin Laden was dead because he would have liked him to face trial.
