Angry men about womens football

I was listening to talk radio and there was a very angry man on ranting away about womens football. He was basically saying put it on a different channel. Noone wants to watch, even his wife agrees. He was out of breath he was that mad. I was quite taken aback. Far enough if you dont like it, dont watch. Why on earth he was this upset I dont know! Whats with this disgusting reaction! How weird!!

My DH is watching the football now. There’s odd comments about how they’re not as good as the men’s, but he’s still supporting them to win!

A lot of men say its rubbish compared to the men's game and the men would beat them over and over. The women play a very different game and yes the men's team would beat them, just like the men's 100m finals would beat the women's 100m finals.

Its pure misogny. My husband actually enjoys watching the women's game (no, not like that) as he says yes its a played a different way, but its still a good game!

If he doesn't want to watch he should watch something else and STFU. It's not like there are only 3 channels anymore.

Watching it now and love it. And the women’s rugby, cricket etc. it’s all a complete breath of fresh air!

I’m fed up of hearing men bitching on that it’s not proper football or whatever. Are they telling their daughters that? Men’s England team are dire, always have been in my living memory but we still watch them to cheer them on. Why is women’s football different?

Not when it suggests he thinks they should be in the kitchen.

When men say men’s football is better, when was the last time the men actually got us as far as the women have repeatedly done? Genuine question.

Of course he is, but if OP heard the same clip I did, there was real fury that women dared to play football. He said he was a massive football fan but hated how women’s football was “shoved down our throats”. Is he fucking kidding? As someone who doesn’t like any football, it is men’s football that is harder to avoid, by a bloody country mile!
He also objected to all female commentators because he “hates their voices” and they should “stay out of men’s sport”.

This wasn’t someone saying “I hope they do well, I’m just not really interested” which I think is most people’s reaction to sport they don’t care about. It’s my reaction to England playing in the football, rugby, and cricket. I’m not incandescent that they dare to put it on tv.

The whole thing about “give them their own channel” - why does he think bbc and itv are more men’s than women’s channels??

I think some men want to retain football as a “men’s club”. They get pissed of at women commenting or commentating, probably don’t care about women supporters, and definitely don’t want women players.

My husband is at the pub watching with his mates. They've been watching it all the long and barely even mention its women playing now.

I felt he was more angry about it being shoved down our throats that we all must enjoy women's football as much as mens and it's terribly sexist if you don't.. I kinda get it

It’s fine not to like football or even not to like women’s football. However, having some kind of breakdown because it’s on a single television channel, in an age of streaming TV and 500+ channels, shows him up as nothing but a woman hater.

He (and perhaps others) need a history lesson:

@Ontobetterthings How do you know he wasn't an actor? Radio shows and talk shows have been known to use plants or actors who are there to try to stir up a response, or engagement, from the audience.

I’m interested to find out if the women roll around on the floor and feign injury as much as the men do or if they just get on with it.

I don't know of any man who would choose to watch it, my husband and not one of his mates or his colleagues, would. Appreciate that they don't represent the whole of the males in the country etc.

Personally, would I watch it, no, I think its dire.
