To be so sick of men on podcasts

Teachingquestion · 17/07/2025 07:22

Just watching diary of a ceo and Eric weinstein is on. Its impossible to watch. Two men so convinced of their own intelligence they are just sort of talking in platitudes and smiling at each other as if they are so intelligent.
Uggghhhh

It’s the “chatty” “we’re just like you” podcasts between women that I can’t stand

I'm not sure I've heard those ones but they sound irritating too

You can always, you know, not listen..

Stunning insight.

You can also listen and then have an opinion.

So I should start a thread about how “to be sick of women podcasters” based on a couple of annoying threads?

If you would like to.

I don’t think it’s just men. I listened to Mel Robinson as she’s so revered on here and found her and her guests did exactly the same with each other.

That does seem like a good strategy.

The podcasts I enjoy regularly feature transgender people. Best of both worlds.

So many podcasts are absolute drivel these days. Someone recommended to me to listen to the Kardashian one. You can imagine that I wasn’t keen… I can’t remember which Kardashian it was but I know it wasn’t Kim. She was interviewing some guy called Jay Shetty and my friend was very keen on me listening to it as she had been going through a hard time and it really helped her. I managed but 15 minutes of it before having to switch it off or my phone was going out of the window. They were talking absolute shite.

One that did make me laugh although it’s not for the faint of heart - Fin Taylor interviewing Chris Worthington on his Fin vs the Internet series. He absolutely ripped in to him about his podcast saying things like “on this week’s episode, Chris talks to another multi-millionaire about how hard it is to be a man” 😂

Mel Robinson is like nails on a chalk board to me.

I understand op. The difference between male and female podcasts is that women will listen and they’re just podcasts chatting about random things and are just pointless conversation to be honest. But the male podcasts have followings that take their word as gospel and they’re more to do with sharing their ideology on topics with the men and young boys are consuming as fact which becomes really dangerous.

MinnieMountain · 17/07/2025 07:44

I listen to a few podcasts that have both women and men presenting. Seems to work well but maybe that’s the specific presenters.

Boredlass · 17/07/2025 07:45

Imagine men doing podcasts? How disgraceful

She's unbearable.

It’s the ‘it’s your friend, Mel’ bit that I struggle with. She’s trying to be straight talking but leads with something that’s obviously not true.

I won't listen to her then, she sounds annoying as well!

The best podcast I listen to is After Dark. It’s a history podcast about the darker side of humanity, it’s presented by two historians, Maddy Pelling and Anthony Delaney. They are a delight to listen to with their erudite and witty chats.

I like the sound of this!

Malvaceae · 17/07/2025 07:58

Someone has already mentioned Jay Shetty. He’s the worst. He delivers ‘wisdom’ very very slowly with a mid Atlantic accent. It’s like Cliff Richard reading ‘live, life, live’ signs out loud.

Many of his guests are famous for being superficial (which is fine, we all need light entertainment) and it’s as if they are trying to elevate each other to the role of philosopher with the empty yet profound sounding truisms. Awful.

fromthechandelier · 17/07/2025 08:00

The only podcast I actually enjoy is Louis Theroux interviewing. I really like the way he asks questions of people.

I find most podcasts, both male and female, to be no more insightful than listening to friends down the pub.

Pinknotpurple · 17/07/2025 08:00

Another vote here for After Dark, it's great company

You’ve explained him very well! Put it far better than I could, spot on!
Complete charlatan. As are most of them.

Teachingquestion · 17/07/2025 08:03

Definitely gong to try After Dark!
