To be so sick of men on podcasts

Teachingquestion · 17/07/2025 07:22

Just watching diary of a ceo and Eric weinstein is on. Its impossible to watch. Two men so convinced of their own intelligence they are just sort of talking in platitudes and smiling at each other as if they are so intelligent.
Uggghhhh

I like Triggernometry. They do actually listen to their guests, have a good variety of types and aren't trying to ram their own views down people's necks. Plus I have a strange crush on Konstantin Kisin. Quite fit.

I cannot stand The Rest is Politics. Utter condescending claptrap. Rory Stewart in particular. Why people like them I do not know.

Actually you’re correct about Triggernometry. They have no self-aggrandisement at all. That’s the only one I’ve listened to / watched, along with Gary’s Economics (but that’s You Tube).

sashagabadon · 17/07/2025 08:57

i'm getting fed up with all podcasts - maybe it's me but I am sick of hearing the same boring talking points and podcasters basically interviewing each other over and over again on all their respective podcasts. over and over, yap, yap, yap. Maybe I've been listening too long. I was listening to one of my previous favourites the other day and just thought what a waste of my time - I would be better off listening to the birds and thinking my own thoughts than hearing what whozits thinks of blah blah again 😁

If you would like to.

On the basis of a couple of threads?

well, that would be silly

I have realised that I really don’t like podcasts that are in a chat/ conversation format. Feels like a waste of time listening to the small talk and chit chat and the meandering. I do like scripted podcasts where it’s more like a documentary where what is said has been planned and edited and polished. More quality information less waffle.

Yes, I like podcasts that have a point. If I wanted to listen to sone inane chat, I'd take my earphones out on the bus.

Reading Love GIF by Jamie Kern Lima

Sounds like you just haven't found the right podcast...Yet.

I thought I'd have no interest in The Rest is Entertainment but listened once as I like both Marina and Richard.

It's brilliant and the insights into the industry are fascinating.

Letsgodancing · 17/07/2025 09:08

The issue is anyone with some sort of following or anyone in general can set up a podcast, and film themselves giving their opinions or viewpoints and this is how someone like Andrew Tate got big, there is some interesting podcasts too out there. But there is also those saying the most controversial things they can to go viral or get their name out there too, unfortunately some of these people come up online feeds, than if you continue watching the algorithm shows you more of the same stuff

StrictlyAFemaleFemale · 17/07/2025 09:10

I listened to one episode of the Mel Robbins podcast, and thought it was great. None of the subsequent episodes have been worth my time - a LOT of rambling, filler, just get to the point.

I do like a narrative documentary, not so much chat.

Agree with all of this 😁

Oh op I remember your DH and University challenge thread yesterday…. It is the main man in your life, your DH, that is an utter egoistical self inflated twat.

It’s the “chatty” “we’re just like you” podcasts between women that I can’t stand

Fair. I can't stand those either.

I think I am also rapidly reaching that point.

HollyhockDays · 17/07/2025 09:19

Mel Robbins is hard to dip into as she seems to expect you to know her backstory.

I like the rest to entertainment, as PP say it gives an interesting insight into how the entertainment industry works. I also like parenting hell and what did you do yesterday.

I can't be doing with her. She makes me cringe!

I understand op. The difference between male and female podcasts is that women will listen and they’re just podcasts chatting about random things and are just pointless conversation to be honest. But the male podcasts have followings that take their word as gospel and they’re more to do with sharing their ideology on topics with the men and young boys are consuming as fact which becomes really dangerous.

😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂
what complete and utter drivel.

See I listened to the Louis Theroux Bella Ramsey one, thinking I like them both, she’s had an interesting journey… what’s not to love?

Well it was shite. The advert/promotion slot was so intrusive and weird, and they didn’t manage to get a decent conversation underway at all!

ha yeah i remember having that exact same thought, and being majorly disappointed by it.

I'm amazed at how not great Louis Theroux's podcasts are, they fine, nothing special, but his TV shows are so great, would expect much more.

Diary of CEO and High performance podcast are 2 which i've listened to 10 minutes of and have to turn off.

You simply cannot generalise like that. I listened to a podcast involving two women the other day - not only were they more interested in performing than listening to each other, but they spent stupid amounts of time laughing inanely. On the other hand, there are podcasts featuring men who are simply sharing facts and information, not ideology.

21ZIGGY · 17/07/2025 09:25

Are you having a bad day?

It was yesterday

and the DH is an absolute self inflated prick

kind of relevant to what the op is saying about these two pod casters

DuskyPink1984 · 17/07/2025 09:27

Sounds dull as dishwater. Try the Infinite Monkey Cage. Totally different subject matter (science made entertaining, rather than CEO's having a cock-off). Or anything with Hannah Fry. Or You're Dead To Me.

Isxmasoveryet · 17/07/2025 09:29

Have you started your petition to ban men from all public places or anywhere they can be seen or heard yet only to roll them out for paycheck and making babies yet

BoredZelda · 17/07/2025 09:30

Op: I hate men on podcasts
MN: Let me tell you all about women we hate on podcasts. 🤦🏻‍♀️
