To be pissed off that my DH is not going to McDonalds now and now I have to cook?

Sophiehoney · 13/07/2025 16:25

DH was going out at 4pm to rake DS12's friend home. He suggested he get McD's on the way back for himself and the kids (he knows I have a salad prepared for myself and that I don't like McDs) I said great, I wont have to cook.
I was in the shower when he left so I rang him to check he knows what DD7 wants from MCDs. He said he doesn't want McDs any more, he's going to go to the new local chippy instead. I said but the kids don't like the chunky chips you get from the chippies and he said well he's not going to two different places.
I said great, I suppose I'll just have to cook them something.
He said he doesn't understand why I'm so bothered, I would have had to cook anyway icfhe hadn't suggested getting something and I said, because I wasn't expecting to, I'd written it off in my mind, I haven't thought of what to cook and it's now 16:20 on a school night.
He thinks I'm just being argumentative and that I should just cook or we shpuld just tell the kids to just eat the damn chips.

Who's right?

Any evidence for that last statement? No, I didn't think so. It's factual that there are blue zones and their diets have a lot in common with eat other.

Sure, just a quick Google brings you this on Blue zones . Just as with any other nutrition information designed to sell books more than provide factual information (I'm looking at you, van Tulleken). Plenty more available if you look!

Am I right? You’re hanging on to what your mother did, time to move on and free yourself.

No one cares what you think of McDonald’s they’re not asking you to eat it or feed it to pigs.

OP asked was her DH unreasonable for not cooking, you then started telling her your views on McDonald’s : and “worrying” about her, but you’re actually just judging her.

You changed the narrative of the thread and are now unhappy because people are answering you back.

Stop playing the victim now!

I'm pretty sure she is happy that people are answering back. In fact I'm sure she is posting these comments.to get a reaction. Apologising for one comment and then saying she would not feed it to her pigs.... Which the OP did not react too ! 🙌

Blue zones have been discredited as essentially pension fraud, there were just a lot of unrecorded deaths

Wow, someone who doesn't know a sweet potato is a vegetable or the ingredients of a homemade chilli. It had carrot, celery, onion, tomatoes. Perhaps if you cooked more you would know that.

I mean you don't put vegetables in your roast or katsu curry
It wouldn't be a shocker you also dont put vegetables in your chilli...

Thank you, it was 9:12pm, and my kids are not fast asleep ready for school tomorrow but sitting here starving waiting for me to decide what on earth to do about their tea.

Thank God you popped up with this suggestion otherwise this wouldn't be completely resolved by now and we would probably be here another five hours.

P.s: He did, read the updates xx

OP I have to confess that we also had McDonald's tonight - a quick tea on our way home from a full day spent outdoors at a National Trust place. A lovely wholesome family summer day. A quick tea to keep us on track for bedtime! Standing with you in solidarity 😁

Exactly what Maccas is for in my book!

Not ideal, but it has its place!

Im sure some posters will be clutching their pearls at the fact im taking my 2 to wetherspoons on Tuesday for their dinner.

I am judging you, OP.

I'm sorry but who wants McDonald's?! The only thing they're good for is the drinks 🤤. Please rethink this and go to Burger King next time 😉.

Also, the "fresh" co-op pizzas are delicious but did your husband not think to cook them for his kids? He is the parent too, you know? I'm sure those kids are still waiting for their dinner even now, over 12 hours later! Terrible parenting all round 😉.

I agree Burger king is superior to MacDonald,s but I don't mind the Macdonalds
Plus the nearest Burger king to me is situated in a really stupid difficult to reach place ,whereas McDonald's is round the corner
I do like their Big Tastey,s

Burger King burgers are better but McDonald’s fries are better. Ideally the outlets are side by side so you can mix and match both without compromising on time or hotness of food. The milkshake can be from whichever.

Aaaaaw dammit. I totally thought eating McDonalds was cool. That's totally why I eat it. I thought it was big and clever.
What can I do to feel cool again? Shall I start spraying walls or something? Please tell me what's cool, Pope Joan.

You need to start smoking.

I was sooo ready with a snarky response there 😂

Sadly, we dint have a Burger King here, which is sad because their chilli cheese bites are 👌😋❤️

MC Donald's isn't proper nutritious food. Neither of you should have decided that , that was good enough for tea. It's nothing more than snack food and definitely no substitute for a proper meal.
