Nursery hand over comment. Would you complain?

Btw I’m not the parent. Or the nursery practitioner.

If your child was handed over to you, and the practitioner said ‘’we’ve had to have a chat with childs name today, as she hasn’t been using kind words to staff and has had a bit of an attitude’’. Would this be something you’d complain the manager about, the use of the word ‘attitude’? The child is 3.

I'd want a more detailed explanation, rather than 'attitude '. Then I'd address the behaviour.

DameDiazepamTheDramaQueen · 13/07/2025 00:13

I can't see the problem, 3 year olds can have a fuck ton of attitude!

TesChique · 13/07/2025 00:13

I see where she gets it from.

WearyAuldWumman · 13/07/2025 00:14

I take your point about the child's age, but I don't see that there are necessarily negative connotations intended in the use of the word 'attitude'.

Evelyynn · 13/07/2025 00:15

It’s my friends child. She’s basically said that she’s put in a complaint to the manager about the wording. And has scheduled a parents evening with the room leader as she’s not happy about it at all

Viviennemary · 13/07/2025 00:15

Well it's a bit kinder than annoying brat.

Catherine3436 · 13/07/2025 00:16

No.
a bit of an attitude is fair.
a bit of a dick, not fair.

CopperWhite · 13/07/2025 00:16

Your friend sounds like a nightmare parent who is going to raise a brat.

Oh dear.

She's making a mountain out of a molehill. I've never worked in a nursery - my experience is secondary education - but the entire staff will now be made aware that she's one of those parents.

Eastendboysandwestendgirls · 13/07/2025 00:17

The very fact the parent has complained about the wording speaks volumes.

ShamrockShenanigans · 13/07/2025 00:18

Christ, I've never met a 3 year old who doesn't have attitude?!

If I was going to complain about anything, it'd be one adult saying to another "she hasn’t been using kind words".

I can feel a bit of sick in my throat at that patronising language 🤢

Remember, parents are not children.

BasilandTom · 13/07/2025 00:22

Maybe the nursery staff member could have worded it better but some 3 year olds are little ‘threenagers’ and can be utterly rude and obnoxious. Your friend will be ‘that parent’ but if that’s a hill she’s willing to die on then so be it. Her and her daughter are going to have rough ride through education with both their attitudes.

cadburyegg · 13/07/2025 00:23

Ha ha ha ha ha

If that was my child I’d be mortified at their behaviour, not complaining about the use of the word “attitude”

if the parent can’t see the problem they are the problem

alexalisten · 13/07/2025 00:30

What would you of preferred little shit

Itsawildworld85 · 13/07/2025 01:04

This is hilarious !

ur friend must be having the best life if this is all she has to worry about

Balloonhearts · 13/07/2025 01:09

Jesus. That kid is going to be a spoilt brat. With an attitude.

Samiloff · 13/07/2025 01:12

Your friend is ridiculous. It’s perfectly possible for a three-year-old to have a bad attitude, e.g. hasn't been brought up to know they should do what the adults in charge ask them to do.

steff13 · 13/07/2025 01:13

CopperWhite · 13/07/2025 00:16

Indeed. One was wonder where the child got her attitude...

Spudthespanner · 13/07/2025 01:13

Ugh Christ 🙄

inequalities · 13/07/2025 01:21

So, instead of asking the nursery what the unkind words were that her own child used and how she displayed an attitude, her first and only choice is to feel aggrieved at the word attitude. And this is why teaching is a very difficult career. By the time this little princess makes it to secondary school, she will have an even bigger attitude(and ego) and will know that's ok, as mummy has her corner.

2chocolateoranges · 13/07/2025 01:25

That complaint will honestly get laughed at by management and staff. Totally ridiculous complaint!

mums attitude isn’t that great, no wonder the child has an attitude.

Blondebakingmumma · 13/07/2025 01:47

So rather than focusing on her child’s behaviour, she’s choosing to be offended. Wow, slow clap for her parenting skills

slashlover · 13/07/2025 01:51

The next 15 years are going to be fun. Is she a PFB?

JustSawJohnny · 13/07/2025 02:00

Your friend is ridiculous.

3 year olds can be proper sassy little monkeys and the staff should be correcting poor behaviours.

And people wonder why no-one wants to go into teaching/childcare!!

Honestly, what a storm in a tea cup. If I was the manager I would be hoping your friend moved her child away, in fact I would encourage it.
