Moment police officer sobs after 'being punched at Manchester Airport' Police officer sobs

Vile the police officers were attacked by the media and by politicans. However, this is a seperate issuse - I don't think she should have been sent to deal with this in the first place.

Neither are many men.

Dangermoo · 10/07/2025 21:35

More importantly, let's see what sentence these arrogant thugs get. Pleading not guilty with all the footage. Scum.

Lougle · 10/07/2025 21:38

Honestly? I agree. I'm all for equality of opportunity and women's rights, but if I'm being attacked, I want the 6'3" built like a rugby player guy to turn up, not the 5'2" slim woman. That's the truth. I'm aware it makes me a hypocrite, and I'm comfortable with that.

Because she sobbed for a moment and then got on with the job? It doesn't seem like a huge issue to me; why not just normalise involuntary physical reactions for everyone regardless of sex? A lot of male officers vomit at their first violent murder scene; senior staff give them a minute and everyone carries on.

YouWillFindMeInTheGarden · 10/07/2025 21:40

Oh please!

women are just as capable.

TheCurious0range · 10/07/2025 21:40

I saw one of my slight female police colleagues chase a man up two flights of stairs, then jump from a second floor window to apprehend a violent offender who had attacked his partner. We'd gone there to see his partner not expecting him to be there or for there to have just been another incident. She was marvellous.

I've also seen the emotional and psychological trauma caused to male police colleagues having been attacked in the course of duty. They're human not robots. I'm not a police officer but work closely with them.
YABVU.

You think you’d be safer??

Worldgonecrazy · 10/07/2025 21:42

Yanbu. Female officers, even with the best training in the world, will be at a disadvantage when up against male strength and violence. There are other areas wherein female officers could be more suited, eg dealing with victims of violence, trauma, general visibility etc.

Dududud · 10/07/2025 21:42

PC Ward, who described herself as 'quite petite, 5ft 2in and 8st', told the court that she was part of the three-officer team going to arrest Amaaz on suspicion of headbutting a man minutes earlier in a Starbucks café.

Never should have sent a 5'2" 8 stone woman or man to deal with a violent offender.

YABU. It’s a normal response to pain. What a weird post.

Lifestooshort71 · 10/07/2025 21:43

Do you mean because she cried?? Many people shouldn't be in the police for a variety of reasons (because they're bullies, dishonest etc) but if you're going to be then you must be prepared to do whatever the men do - my daughter is in the Met and would be horrified if she felt she was being sidelined because of her sex.

YouWillFindMeInTheGarden · 10/07/2025 21:43

female presence is known to work well at diffusing situations

i talk men down on the daily!

In some jobs if you re not as strong, you're not as capable.

Rubbish!

grumpygrape · 10/07/2025 21:46

Not all police officers are suited to all situations, nobody is a perfect all-rounder.

To single out females on the basis of one incident is daft.

Chazbots · 10/07/2025 21:46

I'm pretty sure if you were punched like that, you'd not be insisting on a stiff upper lip as your reaction.

MultipackItem · 10/07/2025 21:47

The job of a police officer is not to be a punch bag. In the absence of robocop the benefits to have women on the force is huge and there is no need to reduce their role any more than it is to not allow the six foot blokes to work with victims of crime.

MoominUnderWater · 10/07/2025 21:47

She had her nose broken and also feels she was knocked out momentarily. Which could have happened to anyone and temporarily incapacitated them. It’s quite unusual for a police officer to be physically attacked to that extent.

wasn’t it a female officer who managed to taser one of them? The male armed police officer was on the floor having his head kicked in and worrying about his gun been taken so he wasn’t faring any better 🤷‍♀️

I’ve also seen a video of a separate incident where a male officer was getting pulverised and a member of the public had to help p him.

The 1960s called they want you back.

Id love to hear one of the cops on my shift refuse a call because shes just a little ickle lady.

There are thousands of female officers daily handling violent incidents brilliantly and very capably regardless of their size. Writing them off because of one incident is ridiculous

MoosakaWithFries · 10/07/2025 21:51

Completely disagree.

Other threads are full of how misogynistic the police are, heightened by the death of Sarah Everard. We need female police officers.

Yes, there are situations where women or men are suited better, however with the lack of police officers in the first place deciding who is best suited (skill set/build/experience/race) is not possible.

What do you want OP? Women to be back behind a desk typing? Dealing with sexual offences or situations where there is no violence?

And that PCs relation was because she'd just been assaulted. It's also the face of officers - male and female - all across the country day in, day out.

Noshadowsinthedark · 10/07/2025 21:51

I think a man would likely be in pain after having his nose broken too.

It was a particularly violent attack. I’m not sure a man would have faired much better.

Espressosummer · 10/07/2025 21:52

There was the male police officer getting a kicking on the floor - do you think men shouldn't be sent to scenes like this one?

Define 'strong'.

I've seen a petite female officer deck a 6'6” brick shit house of a man by using skill as opposed to physical strength.

I've also seen a female officer 'talk down' a violent man after male officers had wound him up.

I prefer to see a mix of qualities and sexes.
