Moment police officer sobs after 'being punched at Manchester Airport' Police officer sobs

Vile the police officers were attacked by the media and by politicans. However, this is a seperate issuse - I don't think she should have been sent to deal with this in the first place.

It’s not though is it 😂

What’s not?

I personally am and always have been a feminist but can definitely say that there are physical differences between men and women and some scenarios where size and strength and fitness matter and this is one of these times - I also would not send a v weak man in to this situation- no matter the amount of training women's bodies not not as strong and able to withstand as much force as a man's body nor fight (for want of a better word) as hard as a man - there are plenty of police roles that a woman can do but I agree with the op - someone who has already downed a man would likely be able to chuck an 8 stone woman aside with one blow. And could potentially cause a lot more damage than he could a man.

Did you know restraining someone isn’t about strength but skill

its usually 2 officers and they work as a team

YouWillFindMeInTheGarden · 10/07/2025 22:38

Golden407 · 10/07/2025 22:37

You would not be capable of restraining the majority of men within that prison

I think you’re on the wind up!

Golden407 · 10/07/2025 22:33

But ultimately it wasn’t the women who dealt with this situation, it was the male officers who physically subdued the attacker and they were the ones who risked losing their livelihoods and liberty because the female officer couldn’t handle the situation. Is that fair?

Again, so what are you saying? Ban women from the force? Or give them a desk job? While we’re at it we should do so with the army, prison jobs, security etc just so men really know they run this town.

Golden407 · 10/07/2025 22:40

Pistachiocake · 10/07/2025 22:35

Absolutely! Many women are bigger/stronger than some men. Even if we admit that on AVERAGE we're smaller, training/tactics come into it. The best fighters in the world aren't all big. And policing is not just about being strong.
Many challenging (emotionally and physically) jobs are primarily done by women.
Everyone, male or female, should be allowed to apply for all jobs.

There are weight classes in professional fighting for a reason

Just because you feel incapable of dealing with a violent situation doesn’t mean all women are.

All of those officers got stuck in and dealt with the situation, she didn’t stand by regardless of the fact she was a woman, she didn’t run away. She did her job and the public was protected because of it.

Venalopolos · 10/07/2025 22:40

Golden407 · 10/07/2025 22:30

if the situation turns violent it absolutely matters who is strongest? If the situation turns violent as it did here, women are at a a huge disadvantage, there’s nothing controversial about that it’s absolutely true

Well her male colleague was on the floor being kicked (and apparently with a gun too) - so tell me again how he was better equipped than her to resolve the situation.

Picklechicken · 10/07/2025 22:41

LittleLilac · 10/07/2025 22:28

It’s not about physical strength, it’s about their bravery. That 5’2 slim woman put that uniform on because she’s willing to risk her life to save yours. So be damn grateful if you ever need to ring for help someone like that has shown up.

Completely missing the point. It has nothing to do with being grateful or ungrateful.

There are weight classes in professional fighting for a reason

“Police what’s your emergency?”
“Hi, there is a fight at the local pub”
”okay thank you. Please find some scales and weigh the aggressors so we can ascertain which type of police office to dispatch for this job”

Lalaloope · 10/07/2025 22:42

Based on sheer strength alone, I don't think most women are suited for police fieldwork. Not even as a team of 2, never mind when working alone. For their own safety.

I also think it's embarrassing, the lack of physical fitness, strength and endurance training in the police force for both men and women.

No, don’t ban women from policing, but I don’t understand the rationale for pretending we’re all the same? Most violent crime is committed by men. The vast majority of men are bigger and stronger than the vast majority of women, that being the case are most women suitable for a frontline role?

Police fieldwork?? What the fucks that?

Messycoo · 10/07/2025 22:43

I’ve not read all the other posts. YABU .
No one has the right to hit and attack another person. Regardless of gender!
I hope they throw the bloody book at all of them!
If it had been white men attacking an Asian officer there would have been riots !! Yes I know, I’ve mentioned race, but I’m sick of double standards.

I bet they get a lenient sentence and a slap on the wrist !

Absolutely no excuse to react they way they did!!

YouWillFindMeInTheGarden · 10/07/2025 22:44

There WERE riots!

EmeraldShamrock000 · 10/07/2025 22:13

I disagree, female officers are a valuable part of the police.
I don't think anyone is fair game for such violence.
She should have pepper sprayed them.
I wish there was suffient prison space so vicious humans can be locked away, I'd love an automatic 5 year sentence for anyone who assaults public protection staff, and medical staff.
They know that the consequences are not a big deal.

Its not as simple as that an automatic 5 year sentence would be unfair. And it really depends on what you class as assault. In this specific case absolutely but a lot of "assaults" arent like this

Meadowfinch · 10/07/2025 22:47

Dangermoo · 10/07/2025 21:35

More importantly, let's see what sentence these arrogant thugs get. Pleading not guilty with all the footage. Scum.

What sort of person headbutts someone and than punches a woman police officer in the face? They are animals, and hopefully their sentences will reflect the level of their aggression.

They aren't fit to walk the streets.

Nobody is pretending we are all like for like. But you seem to be fixated on the fact that you have to be a unit of a person to be on the frontline when most people are saying there are a variety of skills and tactics that men and women use in order to respond to incidents that are / can become violent.

grumpygrape · 10/07/2025 22:47

Golden407 · 10/07/2025 22:22

if most women are physically incapable of restraining most men, are they suitable for front line roles?

It’s about skill as opposed to just physical strength. Defusing situations is far preferable to physical restraint as well.

alexalisten · 10/07/2025 22:47

You absolutely need women in policing but their is times i see police officers male and female and think wtf even i could take them.

Messycoo · 10/07/2025 22:48

Honestly? I agree. I'm all for equality of opportunity and women's rights, but if I'm being attacked, I want the 6'3" built like a rugby player guy to turn up, not the 5'2" slim woman. That's the truth. I'm aware it makes me a hypocrite, and I'm comfortable with that.

It doesn't make you a hypocrite, it makes you a realist

Hibernatingtilspring · 10/07/2025 22:48

@Golden407 you clearly know nothing about street fights, or professional fighting.

SpiceDad · 10/07/2025 22:49

Police officers should be strong, tough people that are capable of dealing with very violent situations.

Really? You don’t think weight classes are necessary in fighting?

DontBuyANewMumCashmere · 10/07/2025 22:50

I haven't rtft

I am conflicted on this. I am a female police officer, but a 6' rugby playing one...
I spent 10 years in uniform and have seen and done all sorts.

I joined with tiny woman who also did riot training with me and she literally couldn't see over a long riot shield.

She was a brilliant cop, later detective, and supervisor. But she wouldn't be my first pick for a public order situation.

I might not be many cops first pick for public order.

But, we take what we can and work with whoever wants to join, within reason, and I think she's all the braver for being fucking tiny and still doing this job.
