Moment police officer sobs after 'being punched at Manchester Airport' Police officer sobs

Vile the police officers were attacked by the media and by politicans. However, this is a seperate issuse - I don't think she should have been sent to deal with this in the first place.

How do you feel about other roles that place people in often violent situations? Nursing?

As a woman of a similar build I have been in situations where my size often helps and being a woman helps but I’ve also been assaulted. I’m not going to hide away and let my colleagues deal with the violence because I’m a delicate little flower.

Gloriia · 11/07/2025 09:05

Guavafish1 · 11/07/2025 06:35

If I was attacked I too would sob

its a human reaction.

Sobbing is understandable but she was hysterical, her own colleague had to tell her to calm down. She kept saying he'd ruined her looks or something.

I hope the arseholes who did this are convicted and given maximum sentences.

This female PC does not seem suited to front line work. Her female colleague seemed more than capable so sex isn't relevant, rather capability.

grumpygrape · 11/07/2025 09:08

Golden407 · 10/07/2025 22:22

if most women are physically incapable of restraining most men, are they suitable for front line roles?

We’re not talking about ‘most women’ though are we ? We’re talking about trained Police Officers.

Golden407 · 10/07/2025 22:30

if the situation turns violent it absolutely matters who is strongest? If the situation turns violent as it did here, women are at a a huge disadvantage, there’s nothing controversial about that it’s absolutely true

No it isn't

EmeraldShamrock000 · 11/07/2025 10:07

If the violent thugs walk on this or get a poor sentence it will pave the way for further vicious assaults on emergency workers.

Given the two tier policing systems across Europe that exists, I expect that they will not face severe consequences.

sunseasex · 11/07/2025 11:09

DH is a police officer. I was one for 5 years. Honestly, women can often talk someone down better than a man can. But the risk of getting hurt is huge, and it's scary. Small men can suffer too. DH is huge, and has never been hurt, but his male partner is very petite, and a few months ago in a brawl he sustained life changing injuries.

KimberleyClark · 11/07/2025 11:13

Dududud · 10/07/2025 21:42

PC Ward, who described herself as 'quite petite, 5ft 2in and 8st', told the court that she was part of the three-officer team going to arrest Amaaz on suspicion of headbutting a man minutes earlier in a Starbucks café.

Never should have sent a 5'2" 8 stone woman or man to deal with a violent offender.

Never mind a heavily pregnant one.

She was heavily pregnant?

She is now. Not back then.

Oh please!

women are just as capable.

No, no we aren't.

There is no way the average woman could fight the average man. Policing means getting physical with people, and the average woman is not capable of physically dominating a man. And since it's usually men who are violent . . .

It's a lovely idea and all, but not based on reality.

Policing really isn’t about fighting people. If you think that, you’re very mistaken.

LaChanteuse · 11/07/2025 12:34

Anyone who thinks police routinely fight people needs to step away from the TV and get a bit of fucking sense. Most police officers never touch a person other than to put cuffs on them or to comfort them for years on end. Most of policing involves talking and paperwork.

I love that women are so brilliant and amazing that in a world where male police officers like Wayne Couzens exist the only criticism some moron can dredge up against female officers is that they might be a bit small to do a task that they rarely ever do.

Women are the absolute best. Men fucking suck.

EasyTouch · 13/07/2025 23:50

Fuck's sake; she had her nose broken!
You'd bawl, too.
Furthermore, it was ALWAYS the small girls who knew how to " fight like a man" when I was coming up.

Must be that lower centre of gravity and knowing that people may think that they are an easy proposition.

A lot of us women can turn off the "lady" when need be. Or catch a fool on the rebound after licking a few wounds.......

There's bawling and there's hysteria. You would think even with an injury she'd have been able to control her screams. Her female colleague whilst not injured must've been equally as shocked and distresed yet managed to remain calm and in control throughout.

Maybe to test this theory someone should smash you in the face and see how you react. If you would bawl with a broken nose or go “oh my goodness, how dare you. I must ring the police immediately and ask for a burly male officer to protect me” 🙄

I've said 'bawling' is one thing I'm sure we'd all do that. Screaming hysterically non stop is quite another.

They are highly trained police officers and should be able to keep their cool in extreme situations. Her female colleague was professional and in control so no need for 'big burly men'.

Oh wobble your head and get a grip. They are still human even if they are highly trained. But for the record, she’s an unarmed officer whilst the others are firearm officers. Nonetheless no one can predict how it feels to get your face smashed in, so professionalism might go out the window there. Go back to stirring your stew Gloria and stop critiquing a job you wouldn’t have the first clue how to do.

I have a grip, don't need to wobble my head and don't have any stew to stir.

I would have been distressed, anyone would but police officers are highly trained to deal with extremely challenging situations and her non stop screaming was not how you'd expect a PC to react.

Her colleague was telling her to calm down. What if the screaming lady's colleague had been seriously injured?! I bet she'd have been neither use nor ornament.

WorthyReader · 14/07/2025 17:57

Yes you are being unreasonable. You cannot discriminate based on sex, you think women are less capable of dealing with a violent offender?! There are some women who are extremely skilled and are well equipped to do so. I am an ex police officer so I am speaking from experience, I have also dealt with some suspects who if I were a man would fight but they wouldn’t fight a women. So it is not always a negative. I am only 5ft I am not saying that I am as capable in a fight as my
ex male colleagues but I wouldn’t expect to be told you can’t go to that job because you are a women either. It would never happen we have equipment for a reason

powershowerforanhour · 14/07/2025 23:47

"There's bawling and there's hysteria. You would think even with an injury she'd have been able to control her screams."

She reckons she briefly blacked out (no wonder seeing the weight of the punch) so was probably concussed. I'd give her a bye ball. People coming round from general anaesthetic aren't accountable for their behaviour - same/same.

pineapplecrushed · 18/07/2025 18:22

she didn't though?

Southern25 · 30/07/2025 22:21

The man assaulted a member of the public and broke a female police officers nose. All on cctv? On what grounds can he plead not guilty ? Will he likely get a long sentence? Especially for not going guilty..

Southern25 · 30/07/2025 22:24

No one deserves to get assaulted at work. But if you’re in the police , you have to accept you’re going to deal with violent people.

It doesn’t matter if you’re a man or woman , policing takes a certain type of person to do it. Very few people are actually suited to it. That’s both men and women.
