How can anyone in this day and age be an anti-vaxxer? London and West mids currently suffering from a meassls outbreak. DS is under 1 so cannot yet have vaccine, I know of someone whose 10momth old contracted measels as they were too young for vaccine.
Ridiculous that reckless and tardy parents are putting all our children at risk. Actually terrible.

I remember a fit footballer had a heart attack on the pitch live on Tele. The NHS won't check for any possible underlying issues in any of their patients unless necessary because it would cost to much money. I am not knocking the NHS but they are struggling and they don't have the money.

Sorry but no you didn't.

There have been cases of professional footballers having a sudden cardiac arrest.

This is normally an undiagnosed cardiomyopathy

There is a campaign to have young athletes screened with echocardiogram. That is not the NHS's job. Football clubs make enough profits to pay for the screening.

My point is the NHS wouldn't offer it anyway. The only way you will ever understand your body is if you paid for a private test.

I dont get your point. Are they supposed to test everyone for every congenital outcome just in case. How do you know thst its not something that develops suddenly and no amount of testing will pick it up. The footballer you mention had blocked artery which was not congenital.

I am not trying to knock the NHS but it's not fit for purpose. Unless you can explain to me why it is. I have found another example, a young woman died at 25 from cervical cancer. She asked for tests but was denied because she was under the age of 25. She ended up paying for her own smear test privately but it was to late.

This is incredibly sad, but we must not forget the 2.8 million cancer checks that were done or the 320,000 people treated for cancer each year.

My mother would still been alive to meet her granddaughter, if her gp had screened her 6 months earlier. In and out of the doctors she went and was fobbed off - that was 29 years ago and she died 27 years ago

RafaistheKingofClay · 15/07/2025 18:29

An MI in a 20 year old is exceptionally rare. I doubt any country is screening for that.

Otherwise cardiac screening is available free here

A fair amount of people, especially younger people, who took the covid vaccine, did die. Just not of covid. Hence why people question it. For the older vaccines there is very little (if any) real evidence that they cause harm or death. I’d give my kids the MMR without a second thought. I wouldn’t give them a covid jab.

100% agree I’ve had several male friends in their 40’s suddenly die after to Covid jab.
I know someone who was very ill for two years after having it, but even she despite her illness from the jab still gave it to her children

sashh · 16/07/2025 06:22

That's a different situation. He didn't fall down dead on the pitch which was what I was talking about.

And as I said there is enough money in football for all players to have an echo, not on the NHS.

@bruffin er your friend who died had a congenital heart problem, he might have appeared healthy but he wasn't.

It's always shocking when people die young, and while covid certainly contributed to this in recent times, it's important to remember that young adult deaths were a tragic reality long before the pandemic, as were child deaths. Before modern medicine, countless lives were lost to diseases like cholera, gangrene, measles, and smallpox. Beyond infectious diseases, a myriad of other factors contribute to early deaths including heart issues, strokes, cancer, meningitis, sepsis, pneumonia, and accidents.

Life is inherently full of risks, and it's crucial to understand the actual cause of death rather than oversimplifying complex situations. While it's natural to seek clear patterns, taking perspective from the actual causes of death is more helpful in understanding the world and the risks it holds.

Why are you posting the exact same thing multiple times? One woman dying is statistically insignificant. What country are you posting from?

nam3c4ang3 · 16/07/2025 11:18

i know OP - sone people are so stupid arent they - the whole 'what i put into my body has nothing to do with you' is just so irresponsible - my cousin almost DIED of measles because my aunt felt the same about being anti-vaxxer - as in he was in a coma/ICU and almost DIED - she doesnt feel the same now safe to say thank god.

I couldn't be bothered her response ignored that post and she gave a simplistic answer. Do you watch the news or read newspapers? The NHS is failing and all the doctors demand is more money.
