DH not changed bedding for 4 weeks

He's in a separate bedroom. Flithy f**ker not changed his bed for 4 weeks, so this morning I asked him if he was thinking of changing his sheets as he's been in them for 4 weeks.....he doesn't have a clue how long they've been on....If I had not mentioned it, I wonder how long he'd have kept them on.
He's in our son's room and he's coming back end of July so have ordered some nice new bedding for him 😄

You should research how quickly and how much bacteria grows on your damp towels after use! It's quite disgusting!

KmcK87 · 04/07/2025 07:14

We don’t only do things “when they make us ill” though, sometimes it’s just about standards. No one will get ill from not using deodorant, or not washing their hair for months but we still do that frequently because smelling manky is frowned upon.
But again, you only need to spend some time in public to realise people don’t care about hygiene and reading this thread backs that up.

Jeezus! I'm sorry to hear that. I had it badly for a period on the underside of my forearms, but it cleared up when I stopped drinking milk due to increasing lactose intolerance. That might just be coincidental. 🤷‍♀️
I used a tanning bed as well (it was a long time ago) and that also kept it away. It just came back a few years ago after I had my first my dc. Derm told me pregnancy often triggers it (lovely)🙄, but it's not as bad and in different spots now (knees and ankles). So, back to steroid creams. If your dp's is as bad as it sounds have biologics not been prescribed or at least suggested?

eta: I misread dp for dc. As an adult, maybe try a tanning bed for a bit? It does help and my derm actually uses uv therapy for some cases.

Edited

I've suggested this actually! He's waiting for dermatology to finally see him (after nearly dying earlier this year from an infection related to it 😩) but I have suggested the tanning beds. It's awful isn't it!! It's all over the body too, not even just 1 spot. He has allergies but not dairy but does require an EpiPen, so honestly it's difficult! But till we get it sorted I will need to change the bedding lots 😂

How gross is your mind!

Good luck to him. It's an awful autoimmune disorder. (And I def agree on the bedsheets!) 😊

That is very unpleasant. The longest I could go is 7 days but often change bedding after 4 days as it is so much nicer sleeping in Freshly laundered bedding. I know that some people think that is excessive, but I like what I like. (I shower twice a day too 😉).

A whole month……… in the current heatwave…???

Not everywhere is affected by the heatwave.

Certainly not here in NE Scotland.

Good for you to be able to afford a cleaner to do your dirty work. We would all get our bedding changed every day like a hotel if we could afford cleaners.but
most of us are hard working humans who haven’t got money to even afford the electricity to run a washing machine. And who care about the planet for our future kids

We are both "hard working humans" - I am a financial advisor and DH is an NHS consultant and therefore what is wrong with having a cleaner we pay her well and she has been with us for years so she benefits from our ability to pay her and she makes our lives so much easier as when the kids were small she also did babysitting and she does dog sitting for us when we go away obviously at an extra cost. We both work hard so why shouldn't we pay for help.

I am a domestic cleaner and have several homes with both peeps working hard and I do all I can to help them. 🙂

Buzyizzy217 · 09/11/2025 07:39

What? You need to get a life! Firstly it’s a massive waste of energy and money and totally unnecessary.

So we are still in drought conditions here in the SE and now it’s looking like next year there will be even more shortages. Do you not think that wasting that amount of water is a tad selfish? You clearly have OCD issues, could someone point out to you it’s not really a good idea to waste that much when so many of us are keeping our usage to a minimum?

Soonenough · 09/11/2025 12:27

Duurty bastard

JHound · 09/11/2025 13:19

I am pretty sure my sheets have been on my bed for longer. I don’t see the issue.

@JHound

the issue is that the sheets will be dirty. It’s not rocket science.

FateReset · 09/11/2025 17:36

Did he change the pillowcase?

Lots of people in RL only change sheets and duvet cover monthly!

”Dirty” is subjective but of they are…so? He’s the one sleeping in them. I don’t see the issue.

@JHound
you’re right maybe he should just go the whole hog and wear the same pants all week. Dirty is just a subjective term after all.
no. Certain stuff is dirty. End of. Sleeping in same sheets for so long is poor hygiene and gross. He needs to stop being idle and change them. Cos that is what is at the root of this - pure laziness

If someone wears the same pants all week it may well be noticeable to others due to smell. But if someone isn’t washing their bedding regularly, and is showering in the morning before going out, who would ever know or notice other than the person using them? There are many behaviours that are more unacceptable in public but not so much in private. If someone wants to go home and put on dirty pants every evening and never ever wash them it’s no one’s business but theirs surely? As long as you aren’t stinking everyone out in public it really shouldn’t matter what someone does at home?

His dirty pants will stink and bother others.

Sheets - not so much.

IGER · 01/01/2026 11:51

DO U BATH AFTER WORK BEFORE U ENTER THE KITCHEN OR NOT???

Hedjwitch · 01/01/2026 13:14

NO

iliketobereasonable · 01/01/2026 13:32

I don’t get the fuss. I have a bath before bed and wear pyjamas. That’s clearly a different scenario to someone who showers in the morning (and therefore goes to bed dirty) and goes to bed naked. 4 weeks is fine.
