DH not changed bedding for 4 weeks

peachescariad · 01/07/2025 12:36

He's in a separate bedroom. Flithy f**ker not changed his bed for 4 weeks, so this morning I asked him if he was thinking of changing his sheets as he's been in them for 4 weeks.....he doesn't have a clue how long they've been on....If I had not mentioned it, I wonder how long he'd have kept them on.
He's in our son's room and he's coming back end of July so have ordered some nice new bedding for him 😄

OP's assessment is only in one area that she finds filthy, so seems fair.

To her.

No way could I sleep in a bed with sheets that are that old. I change our bedding twice a week as I love getting into a bed with freshly laundered and ironed bedding. Even the kids who are still at home change theirs every week its just a good job that our cleaner loves ironing!

It’s not an agenda 😂 I wash pyjamas, cardigans, jeans and anything else that has touched my skin or clothing after each use. If I tried a pair of knickers on and changed my mind I’d put them in the wash! What the hell?!

using a towel more than a week is musty crusty and dusty

There’s little point in showering often if you wipe yourself with a towel that is washed infrequently.

Gloriia · 03/07/2025 07:25

'its just a good job that our cleaner loves ironing!'

I bet she she does.

How lovely to be so proud of your twice weekly sheet change when you've got a cleaner to do it for you Grin.

What a strange comment. 🧐

I asked my wife and apparently in our house it’s fortnightly. Good girl.
If it was left to me I’d just buy new ones after about a year. The Caveman.

Sounds like psoriasis. You can get a steroid cream for it.

He's got steroids, multiple creams as well was hospitalised for it a few months ago cause it went so infected. Waiting for dermatology to hopefully prescribe some better creams but obviously long wait list!

BlondeCircus · 03/07/2025 08:53

Well it’s ultimately down to him you are not sleeping with him . I couldn’t personally sleep in a bed with 4 week sweat etc on the sheets I love getting in freshly laundered sheets change ours once week

thepragmatic · 03/07/2025 09:01

Ha

It's nothing more dramatic than a loving wife who appreciates her husband and reciprocates his care for his family. Sad state of you to be triggered by that!

Why is he in the other bedroom? Are you separated? If so, it’s none of your business

She said he's coming back end of July maybe just a break?

Fortnightly is about right, slightly longer is also fine. But if she starts doing it more frequently gently suggest she gets a hobby.

I used to do it Fortnightly, ours one week the kids the next. Since my partner retired I handed it over to him, he does it about monthly, but I'm not about to complain bc I've got better things to do with my time.

Lourdes12 · 03/07/2025 12:15

problem also is, our washing is so heavily fragranced nowadays so people think washing is clean when fragranced and dirty when fragrance stats to wear off

YesButNoButMayybee · 03/07/2025 12:17

Ours isn't very fragranced because I specifically don't like that. And we never use softener. Our bedding mostly smells of fresh air.

AnotherBrickIn · 03/07/2025 12:21

I’m do ours weekly in summer especially. Towels are washed every 3 days

Some people are just mingers

Jeezus! I'm sorry to hear that. I had it badly for a period on the underside of my forearms, but it cleared up when I stopped drinking milk due to increasing lactose intolerance. That might just be coincidental. 🤷‍♀️
I used a tanning bed as well (it was a long time ago) and that also kept it away. It just came back a few years ago after I had my first my dc. Derm told me pregnancy often triggers it (lovely)🙄, but it's not as bad and in different spots now (knees and ankles). So, back to steroid creams. If your dp's is as bad as it sounds have biologics not been prescribed or at least suggested?

eta: I misread dp for dc. As an adult, maybe try a tanning bed for a bit? It does help and my derm actually uses uv therapy for some cases.

LOL! @Putneydad7 😆 If my DH called me a 'good girl' for doing the household chores, he'd be staring down the barrel of an envelope with divorce papers in it!

Bonkers. You need to chill a bit. Skin is not a poison. Here's some jeans washing advice. www.levi.com/US/en_US/blog/article/the-definitive-guide-to-denim

EmotionallyWeird · 03/07/2025 17:35

His bed, his choice. If they end up permanently discoloured he can either live with them discoloured or organise and pay for new ones himself.

Good for you to be able to afford a cleaner to do your dirty work. We would all get our bedding changed every day like a hotel if we could afford cleaners.but
most of us are hard working humans who haven’t got money to even afford the electricity to run a washing machine. And who care about the planet for our future kids

So until you asked, you didn't know how often she does it... Not just efficient but also discreet! She really is a good girl 🫠
