Do you always have the fan on, or the window open at night? We can’t really open our bedroom window so that’s not a choice and the fan is so noisy!

Shut your windows!

British people don’t know how to manage hot weather. I grew up in a very hot country where people kept windows firmly shut in very hot weather. It makes sense. Why let hot air in to your house?

Your routine for weather over 28 degrees should be:

Keep curtains and shutters closed all the time
Only open the windows at night when the air is cool
Fans don’t work properly if the windows are open all day when it’s hot as they are just moving hot air around

I slept with the window open last night. I don't sleep well with a fan on as it is noisy.

I have an air cooler in my home office which works a bit better than a fan but the dog is in here with me currently and is scared of it so it isn't on at the moment! I did have it on earlier and will be moving it around with me this evening but turn it off when I go to sleep. Might need to let my son borrow it for his room for a bit too.

Windows closed aircon on = good night sleep. Best money we've ever spent, even the water softener comes 2nd to the aircon unit in the bedroom. (Bedroom is south facing so is very hot in the afternoon even with the curtains closed etc.)

What unit did you go for? I want the get a couple for my DC's rooms as they're on the top floor which is the hottest part of the house.

Windows shut to keep pollen out , fan on low ...it's a shark flexibreeze, very quiet and cool, it's so lovely

Me and DH are warm weather people so, so far we haven’t needed a fan at all.

No idea where the fan is, so no, and can't open the window at night due to grass pollen.

I’m currently sitting with a fan on me and a cold wet towel draped over my head.

I am not a hot weather person. I love cold weather.
