Do you always have the fan on, or the window open at night? We can’t really open our bedroom window so that’s not a choice and the fan is so noisy!

Big French windows wide open, it's cooled right down all of a sudden here, it's lovely. The window will be open all night.

No fan- too noisy.

i never used to be able to have a fan on, but I found if I focus on the noise it's actually soothing.

SummerInSun · 29/06/2025 22:44

Both DC asleep in their rooms with a fan each blowing on them (and windows open). Only own two fans so DH and I sweltering.

Don't own a fan. Hate the sensation of air blowing on me. I like air conditioning, but don't like fans. Don't they just move warm air around?

Not if you put them in front of an
open window.

mrsfollowill · 29/06/2025 22:46

We are still downstairs and have 2 fans on - 1 at either end of the room. I've shut the windows on the ground floor now- air has warmed up weirdly. Bedroom has a 3rd fan on and window open a bit- I know we'll get cool air in the morning. Fan is on year round I need the white noise to sleep. DH likes the breeze year round he is like a fucking furnace to lie next to! I think we'll both sleep on top of the covers tonight- looking forward to Wednesday in my part of Yorkshire- 19C sounds great!

Ok, but it's pretty warm here tonight so I feel like it would just be blowing warm air around.

UndoRedo · 29/06/2025 22:48

Fan on, low setting and windows slightly open. I would prefer them wide open but cats would launch themselves out in an attempt for free so not an option

Sophiehoney · 29/06/2025 22:48

Yep, in bed right now, naked with nothing but a sheet on me, fan on full blast and pointing right at me.
Windows are open but my bedroom windows are always open, even in winter.

mrsfollowill · 29/06/2025 22:49

Also have cooling towel things from Amazon- you soak it in cold water and pull and 'snap' it and drape it over your face or put round your neck- spot on to get to sleep.

ChaliceinWonderland · 29/06/2025 22:49

Aircon been going all evening upstairs. Makes a big difference

Iwantsandybeachesandgoodfood · 29/06/2025 22:50

I’ve got a small fan which I keep turning on and off. Windows are always open because we have a dog and but I can’t sleep with a fan on, I feel the cold more than the heat so don’t sleep comfortably at all.

beforetherain20 · 29/06/2025 22:50

Windows closed as ground floor apartment
fan on but will go off before bed as I worry about fire/can’t sleep with it on

It's still warm here too, but the combination of open window & fan are creating a cool waft of air! I have the fan oscillating so I focus on it going from my head to my toes & back up again. It's cooling & soothing.

And I hate the feeling if a fan blowing air on me, am I the only one?

Ohdearwhatnow4 · 29/06/2025 22:52

All open and air con on.

minipie · 29/06/2025 22:52

No. We’ve had a fan on during the day but the rooms will have cooled down plenty by the time we go to bed. We have all the windows open and there’s a nice cross breeze.

BeamMeUpCountMeIn · 29/06/2025 22:53

No fan. Window open a bit.

jay55 · 29/06/2025 22:53

Window open, blind shut, fan on, cooling spray being liberally applied

Hollyhobbi · 29/06/2025 22:56

I have the windows open but the damn bark all night long dog has just started barking in his back garden and he will be barking all night long so I’ll have to shut them to get any sleep. How the neighbours put up with it I don’t know. I think his owner must be on sleeping tablets.

MichaelandKirk · 29/06/2025 22:56

I am sensitive to noise but have a Pro Breeze tower fan and it’s fab. Better than my Dyson one tbh.

Kissedbyfire1 · 29/06/2025 22:57

Bedroom windows are open year round. Fan is on now but will probably turn it off to sleep as it’s noisy. Also a lot of aircraft noise this evening earlier on.

FishChipsAndVinegarPlease · 29/06/2025 22:57

I bought a meaco fan, from argos, it's very quiet.

The kids have nicked it. 🫥

Wildywondrous · 29/06/2025 22:57

Windows open, fortunately we have 3 in the bedroom, front, back and side so it pulls the air through nicely.

I'm scared to have a fan on overnight, we had one set on fire during the day and I worry about it happening when I'm asleep.

NoisesOn · 29/06/2025 22:58

25C. Window open as it is for almost every day of the year. Not yet resorted to the fan.

FishChipsAndVinegarPlease · 29/06/2025 22:58

I also have the window open, dh opened them all, but I worry about the spiders and moths and crawly-bities. Also, the pollen and dust. Wail.
