Where are the trans men?

BlueandPinkSwan · 27/06/2025 12:11

Just that really, we are always hearing about men wanting to 'become women'. Phycially, mentally and emotionally impossible, but why aren't women rushing to do the same thing in reverse?
Just interested to know as I'm gender critical, and hate the patriarcal society we live in.
Is it because men wouldn't accept it as a trans man being part of their tribe but women are forced to put up with trans women invading /trying to enter into woman only spaces?

My husband is a trans man, he works in a men’s prison, uses men’s facilities and generally just quietly gets on with being a man.

Porterpart · 27/06/2025 14:43

“There are young straight women who identify as gay men and who are starting to encroach on gay men's spaces. The men don't like it because it kills the mood.”

I don’t agree at all. The gay men for the most part don’t seem to mind a great deal. Women are at risk in these spaces physically, even if they think they’re men.

Whereas female people are about 50% of the population and in some situations, not just physical but also social, professional and cultural, we face signifcantly different experiences, risks and challenges to male people because of our physical sex and the way our culture's mores and expectations are still shaped by the sexism of the past.

So we should be able to allowed to sometimes define ourselves by our sex, as people who share the same needs because of our sex instead of people who all the same sort of mixed sex hand wavy gender/personality type.

It should not be controversial to say that since we face sexism because of our sex, and sexual assault because of our sex, and bear a higher physical, social and often economic cost of raising children because of our sex, we have the moral right to mitigate these things.

And it should not be controversial that at times that can include saying we only want to compete in sports with people of the same sex, or we only want to be touched for intimate treatment or care by someone the same sex, or we only want to be counseled or supported by someone of the same sex, or we only want to be in spaces we are partially clothed or otherwise in a state men are known to fetishise with someone of the same sex, or we want to create a professional support network or training or one to one mentoring that is specific to our sex and the challenges of our sex to create opportunities for our sex.

And these things should not be considered to be somehow an act of hate or rejection of trans women because ultimately it's nothing to do with trans women and whatever they feel about themselves and what is fair to them, it's about what female people need and what is fair to us.

And if the rights trans people are asking for cannot allow for this, the problem is not with women, the problem is with what they are asking for.

Edited

The amount of trans women even competing in sports is negligible, so idk why this is being used as a soundboard when discussing the very real struggles they face in the world (including sexism, because transphobia at its route is enshrined in misogyny and the idea that being a woman is “less” so how could somebody possibly be a “woman by choice” and that any trans men are just trying to “get male privilege”. The arguments in themselves are stupid. Trans people are far more likely to be victims than perpetrators and the hostility around them is just making things more unsafe not just for them for ALL of us. I’ve lost track of the amount of times I’ve been accused of being a man by another woman just because I’m a bit taller and have a squarer jawline (of course I do! My parents are Dutch for godsake)

Also, since when were segregated sports actually made to protect us? They were made to keep us out of the “boys clubs”, I remember back in the days of real feminism we used to dream about playing alongside the men.

Pinty · 27/06/2025 14:48

Well I know two trans men and no trans women
The first trans man I know transitioned over 20 years ago and the other is in the process now.
It's not a modern phenomenon

Yes of course they're at risk. Have you not come across gay men complaining about this though? Did you not see any of the reaction to the inclusion of a woman on I Kissed A Boy?

I spoke about opportunities as well as protection. Please re-read.

@KerryAnnSalford - but you know (and we know!) trans identifying men are men. Or otherwise how do you answer: what is a woman?

Persephoknee · 27/06/2025 14:53

There’s no dressing up in lipstick and mascara opportunities, hence so many less applicants.

You cannot transition unless you believe that some personalities are more "female" than others. It's absolutely an offshoot of the same misognist thought system as patriarchy. The whole concept of a gender "spectrum" with traits that are more or less maculine or feminine is Patriachal.

LoveItaly · 27/06/2025 14:55

As a family we know 4 transpeople, 3 of whom are trans men in varying stages of making physical changes. I’m quite surprised that we know that many as most people I know don’t know any at all.

RanchRat · 27/06/2025 14:56

The patriarchy supporting GC women just can't stop hating. They have won a victory over trans women and now turn their bottomless hatred to trans men.

An Adult human female, which for me includes trans women.

trans women are women in my eyes and trans men are men. No amount of bigotry or dog whistling is changing my opinion on that and I’m thankful that most outside of the mums net echo chamber seem to agree with me on that

Yes I'm sure most feminists dream of the day when women can get beaten up by men in the boxing ring.

HangryLikeTheHulk · 27/06/2025 14:57

I know one trans man and three trans women. All absolutely adorable people.

This is why I think the online hatred directed their way is a total pantomime, and a form of radicalisation.

TaffetaPhrases · 27/06/2025 14:59

Because they’re not entitled misogynistic bullies and if they did start to get difficult; they’d get slapped down pretty fast by the menz.

Wanting single sex spaces is not radicalisation. I too know perfectly nice transpeople but do not want to be in a women's changing room with a trans woman

Look folk don't have a problem with how others live for the most part - but woman's changing rooms, sports etc should be reserved for natal women

I think it’s more subtle than that. There are plenty of trans identifying young women. And were told the explosion in their numbers simply represents more awareness and acceptance and is definitely not social contagion/self harm/internalised homophobia/ a manifestation of their autism.

which begs the question, where are all the late transitioning women? We hear about plenty of middle aged men who realise their authentic self is a woman, but almost zero middle aged women do the same. If the youth figures are the true proportion of trans men, then where are all the middle aged TIFs?

weird, huh?

Beat me to it.

So biology to you is just a vague feeling? See, for me it’s more tangible. The only thing all women have in common is biology, the real kind of biology not your new definition.

No she is a biological woman who dresses as a male and you are either a lesbian or straight.
maybe the men she works with don’t care but others would.

changedusernameforthis1 · 27/06/2025 15:09

I'm a trans man.

Came out at 12. Not a great reaction from my Mum (understandably - as an adult I do not support children transitioning).
Came out again at 16. Worse reaction, went back inside.
Came out at 20, lost friends and a family member. Opted to stay in a bit longer.

Eventually came out permanently at 28. Now 35. Just living my life without demanding others live it with me.

Toseland · 27/06/2025 15:12

It's because fetish and sexual paraphilias are much less common in women than in men. Women don't get sexually aroused by dressing up as men.
