People are just vile

Numerous stories about the tragic air India crash all over my socials at the moment. The comments sections are fucking grim. Racist jokes, racist comments, conspiracy theories about the sole survivor, not to mention the gutter press posting photos and names presumably before passengers have been formally identified and families informed.

It’s as though people have become so detached from reality they just don’t care. The fact so many people actually died in such a horrible way seems to be lost on them. No sympathy, not even a respectful silence…they all just want to stick their two penneth in. It’s really bothered me today.

Basically keeping screenshots of the relevant comments. Receipt keeping = keeping evidence.

Just in case in about X months time they pop up in some other context. It's why quite a lot of various elected officials end up having to sheepishly apologise or even resign for various bits of bile they were happily spouting 🐳 in their echo chamber

Do you think reporters say 'too much' sometimes? If there are two BBC reporters covering the same news like this, they ask each other questions - I am thinking of the time they discovered someone survived - and carry on a conversation which includes speculation?

The BBC has a 'verified' system and now it seems that everyone thinks everything is verified. That is the problem with fine ideas - they don't always work out that way, and some people who listen cannot understand the difference, hence you get the posts on social media.

Don't look op, basically a toilet wall for every idiot that thinks they're clever/funny. and thinks we are all drooling to hear whatever thought bubble farts across their brain.

Some people are vile....like all reform voters..haha

I totally agree. I can’t stand Jimmy Carr and think he’s an insecure, immature k**b, and as for Frankie Boyle I will always turn the channel over if he’s on anything l. He’s absolutely vile. Regarding the initial post. I’m currently having problems with fb so I can’t comment, but if this is true, then I hope Karma pays a visit to these awful beings. I totally despair of the human race sometimes 😔 and would rather spend my time around animals- obviously the furry kind🐕 🐈

Whoops: I attempted to quote someone’s comment but unfortunately it didn’t attach to mine 🤣😜😇

There is no such thing as ‘Facebook’ as regards their attitude. You create your own Facebook based on algorithms, based on what you have liked posted and approved in the past. I got no comments on the crash just my normal stuff: against animal cruelty for beautiful gardens and lots of lively doggy stuff, Oh and some heartening gender critical and women’s rights. It should be a place you recognize and feel comfortable in.
The crash was too awful for words. Heartbreaking.
Got more stuff on crash on X-Twitter but all heartfelt.
Make sure you bother to approve of positive things and ignore the horrid and negative or it will come back and bite you. The algorithm thinks it is pleasing you with these comments so take note - ignore all you disapprove of. I think even arguing will show you are responding. They are powerful free tools but you have to be very aware how to use them.

Sounds like your typical tory/reform voter.
Vile people are naturally attracted to them.

Sample of FB 'discussion' on the interview with the survivor, posted by The Telegraph 😔

People are just vile

I am still puzzled about this. I am on social media including Facebook with a fairly high number of friends and followers (it helps with my art work) and I have not seen a single nasty comment. The only mentions I have seen are people expressing sorrow and sympathy for the loved ones. I am not suggesting that there aren't any nasty comments. But I do think that as far as social media is concerned, there are algorithms that filter out different posts and shapes what we see.

I gave up on Facebook 5 or 6 yrs ago it's full of conspiracy theorists, fake stories and vile racist haters.

But you need to know what people are saying. Forewarned is forearmed, and all that.

It does have a lot of that, I agree. It's quite an eye opener! However it does have other things which are more pleasant. I do think FB is coming to a natural end though, it's far less busy than it was.
