DH fascinating over my tablets

I have an inner ear infection, DH reckons he does too - which ironically came on after I told him my symptoms. I went to GP Wednesday and have been given antibiotics. Ever since, DH has been sniffing around my tablets, keeps asking to share them but I’ve told him I need them all as I have to finish the course! Last night I went to take my dose and they were missing - I found them in a shoe (accidentally as dog just happened to pick that shoe up to carry around). DH reckons he doesn’t know how they got there. This morning I woke up with a bad stomach, DH says it’s the tablets causing it and I should stop taking them - he basically just wants to get his hands on them. Lunch time they were missing again (found in a random cupboard). AIBU to be furious at his behaviour?? He did this last time with my sinus spray.

Put them somewhere he wouldn’t think of looking like in a tampon box is he always so controlling?

Magnalux · 06/06/2025 16:26

I’ve read some odd things on here in my time and this is right up there!!

Loub1987 · 06/06/2025 16:30

What?! Does he eat the beans or store them? Not sure why, but I am so interested!

Where does he keep the antibiotics? Is it just beans or other tins?

I would be saying “oi fuckface, I need to take the full course. If you’re sick, go to the doctors”
then hiding the bloody tablets and contemplating what other shitty things he does

Indeed - EVERYONE knows you have to take the full course and they do not give you extras!

Septembiosis · 06/06/2025 16:36

That gives me the creeps. I'd be hiding the medicine where he can't find it or keeping it with me at all times. But really, who wants to live that way? I wouldn't want to stay married to someone I couldn't trust not to steal my antibiotics!

PluckyBamboo · 06/06/2025 16:36

Early finish for schools today?

There once was a man, who for kicks
Stole his wife's antibiotics
When she said he was mean
He nicked all her beans
And pretended to be very sick

I am snorting like Daddy Pig 😂😂😂

Lemonyyy · 06/06/2025 16:41

So has he been to the doctors for antibiotics a lot, and instead of taking them he hoards them? This would explain why the docs won't prescribe anymore. Is this some sort of misguided prepper/doomsday fatalism, like if a nuclear bomb goes off he can survive on baked beans and he'll have antibiotics if he's sick???

I think the man might be quite unwell, and I'd be echoing suggestions to tell your Doc that's your partner is trying to steal your medication.

babyproblems · 06/06/2025 16:43

What a weirdo. It’s controlling and deceitful.
hide the tablets. Think about divorce!
hope you feel better soon x

amberisola · 06/06/2025 16:44

WTF? I hope this post is a wind up. If not, I couldn't live with someone like that.

skyeisthelimit · 06/06/2025 16:45

His behaviour is beyond bizarre and could affect your own health if you can't finish the course.

Get a lockable box for your meds and hide the key from him. For the moment, hide the tablets in a safe place.

Lemonyyy · 06/06/2025 16:47

My God wtf did I just read???

Goody2ShoesAndTheFilthyBeast · 06/06/2025 16:49

get a big lockable box for your medication and tell him to get himself a good therapist.

itbemay1 · 06/06/2025 16:49

Weirdo

Iloveshoes123 · 06/06/2025 16:52

He sounds mentally ill and needs to get a to a doctor asap.

SugarPlumpFairyCakes · 06/06/2025 16:54

What a freak.

PurpleLemonade7 · 06/06/2025 17:04

Tell him to just buy them online. Only £200ish

ButItWasNotYourFaultButMine · 06/06/2025 17:05

You need to lock up your medicine so he can't get to it.

jljlj · 06/06/2025 17:08

He sounds mentally ill

PlasticAcrobat · 06/06/2025 17:12

I don't think it is a coincidence that his only other hoarding/theft habit is baked beans.
I reckon it is the shape that compels him -- tablets and beans are both plump little ovals. That's what he craves.

ButteredRadish · 06/06/2025 17:12

This reminds me of the ‘T-Rex-ing in Asda’ & ‘snapped & farted’ poster 😆

Namerequired · 06/06/2025 17:13

How bizarre

DoyalikeDags · 06/06/2025 17:16

Tell him to go to the Drs himself if he thinks he has an infection! And remind him he could prolong your infection if you don't finish the prescribed course.

Has he got form for being 'ill' with the same things as you? It sounds like a mental health condition. Health anxiety?

Your belly ache could be caused by the antibiotics though, it's a common side effect.

popdepop · 06/06/2025 17:16

Creeps me out also. Urgh, very bizarre. Would want to get as far away from him as possible.
